Zia seemed to have her 'rich face' on tonight was she looked down into a wine glass and seemed entirely uninterested in the mingling going on around her. Whose party was this? Whose house was this?
Why did they give her wine and not Scotch?
So many questions, but as she took a deep sip she realized all the answers were uninteresting. She had arrived in elaborate updo and little black dress in a haze of perfume and jewelry at daddy's request. Part of her felt the grinding urge to point out she was almost twenty-five and could do what she wanted but considering she had recently lost her job, that wasn't a point of contention she could really afford to make with the old man.
Shunning social interaction, she adjusted the strap on her large purse and faded from the social scene to do some wandering, eventually ducking into a room off to the side that didn't seem to be populated with guests. And finding a shred of peace, she pulled out her papers. She could keep herself entertained here and resurface in case she was paged or questioned.
The papers with seals of various knight symbols and other alien characters were weighing on her mind, as her projects tended to do, and she couldn't stand not looking at them for so long anyway.

There never seemed to be anyone of interest at his parent's little get together. Honestly, why was he even voluntold to do this? Oh, right, because of him being 'antisocial' as of recent. It wasn't as if his brother or sisters saw the same things he did! Why weren't they here? Oh, right, because they had 'friends'. Hey, he had friends too. Or a friend. It wasn't his fault that his friend was busy.
Maybe the most insulting thing was that they had him dress up in his fancy, shining formal clothing that was from his own country. Was he supposed to be a prized fish or something?! There was no way to go unnoticed in these clothes! At times like this, he wished he was a girl.. Maybe then he'd relish in the attention. Plus, their clothing looked FAR more fantastic than his own, with their swooping Sarees..
Ah! He couldn't stand it anymore! He had to escape from all of these prodding adults, telling him how cute and small he was. Isha was 16 years old, for heaven's sake! Just because he stayed at a short five foot two, didn't mean you could prod him like some sort of spectacle! Of course, It would not be proper to cause a scene, no not at all. Instead, he quietly bowed out, using the excuse of having to go 'relieve' himself.
Instead, he found himself wandering to a nice quiet area of the house. It shouldn't be too hard to hide from everyone. Especially in how huge this place was. And yet.. There was someone. Someone who seemed rather suspicious in his house. After all, why in the world would someone just be going through what seemed like portfolios and folders of who knows what? Maybe they were someone trying to investigate his family! For all Isha knew, there was no dirt to hide. His parents mostly kept to themselves, opting for video games and sailing away, instead of social gatherings. There were times they had to keep up appearances, like now, but other than that, they didn't really enjoy being around people.
"Excuse me.. It seems you have wandered away from the party. And.. Excuse me again for being so forward about this, your actions are causing quite some suspicion. It's not like you're rummaging through our things or offices, this is just a parlor room, but.. What is so important to be looking at during a party?" He came closer to the woman, smiling though. So what if she was suspicious? He didn't want to be in their either, so he plopped down in a seat across from her, taking in a deep breath.
"Those parties kinda suck though. Like I really care what the fancy rich adults are doing. I'd rather be in my room, or out trying to complete my list of things.."

Zia jumped at the intrusion, which probably wasn't helping how 'suspicious' she looked. She snapped her hand closer, pushing the papers against her chest to hide their strange characters from prying eyes.
She looked intense and unwelcoming, at least in her eyes as she watched him come sit down across from her. She looked him up and down and seemed to relax her shoulders just a bit. But she did raise an eyebrow at the way he was dressed. She'd seen him out in the party, but here, it was especially obvious.
"Are you their son or their pet?"
She almost appeared to be shaking something off. "Nevermind, I'm sorry. Um," She cleared her throat. "I'm sorry, what list?"
She was a bit antisocial herself. There was a time in her life when she could just waltz around these parties, socializing, being charming. But that was over. She was older now and she wasn't content with being 'Robert's daughter'. She had left the social scene and returned to rumors and a surprising lack of tolerance for it.
She wanted to be in here, in the quiet with her notes and books.
Notes she rested back down. Isha was a teenager, he probably wouldn't question the strange writing on the parchments, and she was slowly convincing herself he was no threat to her.

"Did I startle you that badly? I'm a kid, I don't bite!" He laughed at his own joke, undoing one of the snaps on his high collar. It was hard as heck to breath with the thing so tightly around his neck.
"Son, pet, it varies from day to day. But it's okay, they feed and water me, and I'm treated well, so if they want to show me off sometimes, as annoying as it is, I can deal with it, for now."
"Yes, yes, a list!" He pulled it out of his pocket, excited to show it off. Everyone who took a look could be a potential teacher. Even these snooty, up tight types.
"See? There's so many different things here." He handed her the list, grinning as he ran a pen down the list, stopping at each one he had already accomplished learning.
"There's 64 total. And that stems from the 64 Kala, the 64 Arts that Krishna, one of the incarnations of a Hindi deity, had known. Just the basics of everything, and since I have been feeling so listless recently, I decided that it might be a good idea to, you know, get to it and learn a few. You wouldn't happen to see something you're good at? We could use that as an excuse as to why you disappeared from the party."

Zia just slowly raised one eyebrow as she looked at him with awkward suspicion still. But then again she was always suspicious of all strangers these days.
"I see..." She mumbled, putting down her papers between them to take the list. Her own studies were notes and parchments of varying age with scribbles and post-its with mostly cryptic things. A few things written in shorthand with underlined passages and questions for herself to answer, but some more incriminating words were highlighted like senshi, homeworld, and Sailor Aquarius and Alfheim Knight, which made sense since her lexicon was starting with samples from those two outposts.
"Some of these look a bit... how would you even do that?" She ask, angling his list to point out the one about cockatoos.

There was no way to actually avoid noticing the eyebrow raise, and Isha simply gave her a half glare. How dare she judge him? She WAS in his home after all! But it wasn't as if he was really going to say such a thing. He was raised to be a wee more polite than that.
There was a slight glance at the papers between them, and though he opened his mouth to say something, to ask more about it, he closed his mouth again, instead opting to simply let her take the list, and leaning back again.
"Yeah.. I admit some of them aren't quite conventional, but there is another modernized list floating about. You can't exactly train a ram to fight and it be legal in the states. There are actually two different lists, one for girls, and one for boys. I'm thinking about going through and re-compiling them to make one that's good for me. For now, I like just going through what I can learn already though." He ran his finger down the list, stopping at one particular item.
"I wonder If I can cross out the combing hair one. I do that every morning! Though I guess it's not the same as knowing how to style something."

"There is a little bit more to styling hair than just combing it," Se said in a distracted, almost musing sort of tone as she read down the list. "Goals can keep a person busy, I guess."
Which she could sympathize with more than she wanted to say. Without her knight project she probably would've spiraled down to a much deeper depressive state over the years. Goals and a purpose almost seemed necessary for survival sometimes.
"Lexicography?" She said with a pause and looked over the list at her sheets. But she wasn't sure she was about to volunteer her alien languages to an average civilian boy. Especially one that had parents with enough connections to her father to score him an invite so he could demand her presence at this party in the first place.
"It's all very ambitious. Your parents must be proud."

"Yeah, I figured as much. I've seen some crazy hair styles in my lifetime, and I bet it takes years to master such a thing. I might put that one on the backburner for now. Life has just been so complicated recently, what with all the crazy things that happen in this city, so I though a distraction was needed."
"Yeah, you know, the whole thing about eventually making a dictionary? The question is.. What would I even focus on? I was thinking about some of the people I've met.. Some rather strange people. Perhaps I could just organize my own little contact book with info on them. Make it like an art project or something." He turned his head to cough, choking a little on his own spit as he laughed about his parents being proud.
"Proud, probably not too much. They are probably just happy I'm leaving my room again. I had a pretty bad.. Encounter a few weeks ago, and it left me pretty rattled. I'm pulling myself together nicely now, I'd like to think."

"Ah! Ha," Zia handed him back his list and started delicately picking up her parchments. The poems were very delicate artifacts, it was probably irresponsible to be toting them around for the sake of being able to entertain herself while her father pretended he was still relevant among the elite class.
"Well, there are lots of strange people and encounters to be had in a city overrun with terrorists and scandals. It wasn't one of them, was it?"
There was a bit of a weird pause as she held her papers close to her chest and that eyebrow rose again. She was endlessly sizing him up, but that was a habit she had.
"Your terrible encounter? Was it one of them?"

"It was.. There was this man.. A scary man, clothed in black, covered in blood. He said that he was part of the Negaverse.. And with my encounter with him.. Err.. Right after I left, he killed so many people, and they just.. hung from the side of the rooftop, dangling down from nooses." A hand came up to rub his neck, shaking his head quickly to try to get that image out of his mind.
"Yes, terrifying, and who would even believe me if I told them what I saw. Either way, I think I'm better now. I'm not scared to go outside anymore, anyway. It's kinda silly, really, I had a bunch of weird dreams, and in the end, I think the message was basically 'don't be scared'. And I woke up one morning, over the whole thing. Have you ever had any encounters with those people? I know the news says that they are the 'good guys' but how can anyone believe such nonsense."

"Well," Zia didn't seem any more or less tense than she was when the were discussing cockatoos. "Most people don't call them the Negaverse unless they follow Mr. Swagger's expose, as far as I know," She said, flipping through her things.
"For the longest time they have all been terrorists. Do victims really differentiate between senshi and the Negaverse? The Carnival Massacre tells a different story than scripted television," She didn't look up, but she held up one hand that still had a few scars from the mauling her arm took.
"Good guys is a matter of perspective and individual. Chaos, Order, whatever," She said, tapping her stack on the table. "But only the Order aligned ones can travel to their homeworlds so only they're useful to my own research, which takes a bit more depth than TV personality Tag Swagger."

"I don't really know what to think. I knew of the Senshi.. The Knights.. The Negaverse, but then there was this whole, new faction that I had never met before. One called the Dark Mirror Court. Out of all of them, they seemed the most kind. Atleast to me. Certainly every faction has their own bad seeds, just like how every society on Earth has that one small group that just ruins things for everyone.. To me, maybe they would be the ones who are doing what's right. But like you say, do the victims even really know? Not at all, because the ones I'm talking about are dead." He sat back, finally folding his list back and slipping it into his pocket. That was indeed a question he had been mulling over, whether anything anyone was doing was right. Personally, he just wanted to move to Canada, in the middle of the woods with nature all around and ignore this mess that he had found himself in.
"I heard that they could travel to other planets.. But I don't understand how they can do that.. It's always baffled me, especially with the technology for such a thing on this planet being forever and a day away.." Isha tried not to sound too interested, lest he risk himself being exposed as someone powered as well. He had been trying for a while to figure out how to get to his own planet, but no one he met ever seemed to know..
"And why are you researching them anyway? How do I know you're not one of the magical people either?"

"You're obviously very well informed if what I'm saying doesn't sound like nonsense, why pretend?" Zia said with a bit of a shrug, going through her papers with all the cold concentration of a very in the zone librarian. "If you're a senshi, you use your senshi phone. There's a button, any cat can show you. The Negaverse are just Chaos versions of knights. The Dark Mirror Court is very docile and well behaved, but they are also dead creatures animated by Chaos like youma. But I don't care about them."
She put a notebook page on the table between them and tapped the symbols and characters laid out in a chart comparing two sets. "You want to see a dictionary in the making? I investigate them because I enjoy culture, and magic, and the unknown vastness of space. Have you seen a universe before the mass death of Earth's little war? Ruination brings morbid fascination, it is only a symptom of being human to want to stare at it."

"Well, my experiences with cats aren't exactly the best. Getting shoved at some random monster and told to fight isn't the best "hello" I've ever received. And then they leave without saying anything further.. It's kinda insane, to be honest." The jig was up, so why hide it anymore. It wasn't as if she KNEW which senshi he was anyway, and that counted for something, didn't it. And worse come to worse, having such accusations, if she was some sort of 'tattle tale', would only end in her being excommunicated from this social circle at least. Not that he cared about any of that stuff in the first place.
"A dictionary? Honestly, I have no idea what you are talking about. I'm a kid, essentially. Wars are not mine to fight." In saying that, he still scooted to the edge of his seat, looking over at her papers on the table. "Would dictionary quite describe it?"

"Cats are there to answer questions. I'm sorry some cats are irresponsible. Just like some senshi and some negas are irresponsible," Zia said with a noncommittal shrug ,and kept tap tap tapping away at the sheet with her perfectly lacquered fingers.
"Ha! You people always have your war on the mind, don't you? Like that matters in the grand scheme of the universe. What questions would you even ask a cat if you had one?"
She pursed her lips and looked at her not-dictionary. "Oh, no, I guess that's the wrong word. I'm not so good with languages and arts." Numbers. Everything should be translated to numbers.
"It's more like an inventory of the common characters found across several documents, and over here, trying to find some basic roots and figure out... why?"
She slid out a picture of the ruined towers and vast fields of Alfheim wonder. "Why would something written on these letters found in this ruin on Earth be in a library in deep space on the Surrounding? ******** if I know. But I'm dying to find out."
