Iona wants nothing more than to enjoy life. She is a naturally playful and happy person, and not much gets her down for long. Her world is a fun place and she is not naive, but rather chooses to see the humorous in things. Although not reckless, she is no coward and gets a thrill out of danger. She's very easygoing about things and comes across as genuinely warm, charming, and friendly, which happens often since she deeply enjoys personal interaction (which she does with a lot of laughing, flirting, physical touching, and eye contact). As much as she likes to talk and laugh with others, she is actually very closed about her internal world and background, and she always finds a slippery way to change that subject. Cultural norms don't play an important role for her, except that she enjoys breaking them—not because she enjoys chaos, but simply because she thinks most rules are uselessly restrictive. This is one reason why she frequently engages in harmless rule 'bending', to shake things up or "punish" people who are too serious or try to dominate her. She has very strong inter-personal skills, and often times finds herself playing the peacemaker in situations. Since she can make decisions by using her personal values, Iona is usually very sympathetic and concerned for other people's well-being. She is also quite generous and warm. Very observant about other people and seemingly always able to sense what is wrong with someone before others might, and responding warmly with a solution to a practical need has always been one of her strong points. Though she might not be the best advice-givers in the world, because of her dislike for theory and future-planning she is still great for giving practical care. Definitely a spontaneous, optimistic individual Iona loves to have fun. For Iona the entire world is her personal stage and she is the actor with a love of being the center of attention and performing for people. She is constantly putting on a show for others to entertain them and make them happy so that others may simply have a good day even though they may be dying.

Iona as a child was a quiet girl who had a deep seeded hate for those in power. Her mother was an attorney and her father a politician always sticking his nose where it didn't belong. Her parents were constantly bickering and throwing accusations around that Iona was the result of an affair considering neither of her parents had her red hair. In her early child hood she was able to overlook it and play stupid to what was going on with her family. Eventually the girl grew sick of it and took her frustration out through fighting and purposely trying to hurt herself. Her father didn't notice it however her mother was quick to find out. She had known that since birth Iona been unable to experience pain due to underdeveloped pain receptors. Initially her mother didn't believe the doctor, but when a little Iona came up to her mother with bloodied knuckles and not a tear on her face, she knew it was true.
Eventually, her parents separated after the accusations being thrown around and the odd ball Iona. By the age of ten the fiery little red head never knew what the word pain meant physically, but emotionally and mentally she could. Yet out of stubbornness and not wanting to burden people called the pain 'irritation' or 'bitterness' towards those who caused it. In the divorce her mother was given custody and moved Iona to Ireland where they lived wither her grandfather. The man was the doctor in town and had nearly inhuman skills medically. When he was coming home from work one day he spotted Iona fighting with a local boy in town, and after pulling the young girl that was in tears off of him suggested she come to work with him the next day. It was that day the man figured out the little girl had amazing skill when it came to being a nurse. He spent the next years until she turned 15 teaching her the basics. It was Iona who took it upon herself to practice with the techniques her grandfather had decided to teach her, and then further her research.
When she turned fifteen that entire year after was a bit rough for Iona. Her mother remarried and left the girl with her grandfather. She was raised with love and finally knew something other than bitterness towards her own family. The resentment she held towards her own mother and father was gone. She was happy for once and enjoying life up until her grandfathers heart gave out while they were working one day. She spent everyday until she was sixteen working herself to the bone. On her sixteenth birthday she simply up and left . She left everything in the house she inherited as is and disappeared for three years. Nobody knew where she went unless they happened upon the note that she would be back soon and simply left to study abroad. In reality she had become a personal medic and to a wealthy man and was honing her skills in modern medicine. She wanted to get away from the emotions that she had never been force to identify with. Iona didn't realize it but she was running away from pain. She eventually escaped it but at the cost of her self respect. She received a wound while on the job one day from a tanto wielding attacker the ambushed her employer.
She saved her client but only for a price. She was hospitalized for several large cuts on her back and the single on the stretched from just above her eyebrow to the midpoint of her cheekbone. Her reward for saving his life after being healed were several meaningless nights in bed. She was released from her position as a personal nurse due to the risk it would pose her making an appearance at upper class events. Insulted and confused she bowed her head and returned to Ireland at the age of eighteen. She spent one year studying advanced techniques before returning to the hospital full time.
When she turned twenty Iona spent the majority of her time at the hospital, but spent her weekends and night at the tavern or searching for a better job. It was over this period of time that she also began to develop her personality and habits. She became known for her shopping sprees and her skill in medicine. Eventually, the government caught wind of her talent and asked her to take on the assignment of tending to 'troubled children'. She readily accepted and it was from then on that she became a more fun loving individual. Her love for fun eventually became an addiction. That addiction didn't compromise her work but it had taken a toll on her image as a 'normal nurse' after all who would have a kid disfigure themselves without letting them know that she could fix it just so they could gain more freedom?
Hippocratic Oath
Touch of Mercy: This touch is capable of numbing and healing the most fearsome of wounds that should kill a victim. The draw back is that 1/2 of the damage done is transferred to Iona.
Regenerating Sacrifice: Through the use of this Iona draws her own blood. Her blood being amorphous in nature [making her literally a universal donor] then places the blood on severed or broken limb to not only heal it but regenerate it as well. The down side is she cannot use this on herself nor can she fix impossible things just as being cut in half or decapitated.
