OOC exclaim Make sure before reading this you have read this thread first and followed the OOC or this part will not make any sense
You, and one more figure, are once again in a large hallway. A red, white, gold, blue, and green carpet glides along the floor.
"You have returned." The Great King is standing, hovering. They look at peace. "If you have returned and, then you have completed my final request. " A figure wearing black robes, holding a stave steps forward.
The figure nods, and then bows, to the Great King. "My liege."
The Great King steps forward. "Arthur." A pause. "You have always called me by my name. Arthur Pendragon. As you are not the thousand names you weave yourself in but simply Merlin. It has been a long time."
"Too long," the black robed figure agrees. "I existed too long as a meager shadow of myself. Finally, I return, and everything finally, completely, makes sense. My only desire now is to fulfill our agreement-"
"This agreement has already been completed," The Great King sounds oddly humble, more sympathetic. "Our time has long passed, since then. Tell me, Merlin. Have your desires been fulfilled? Are you ready to return to slumber?"
That which was once Revenge simply bows lower, kneeling. "Of course. If you accept my return, then it is enough for me. My spirit will finally know peace, the peace we fought for. Perhaps I truly loved you most. Now, I wish to sleep, and only to sleep. I am ready to leave my legacy behind."
"You have served me well." The Great King steps forward. As he does so, that of Revenge fades away, becoming nothing but an orb of black light that retreats into the lock.
You notice that the all the visible locks have been unsealed. The blue pillar is gone. Instead, next to the Great King, like a brighter shadow, is an armoured knight carrying a great sword. He looks at you.
"I am here to Protect," he explains, as everything else, the hallway, the locks, even the image of Great King freezes, still. "I am the last Legacy of the Great King. What you see in front of me is my, and your memory. Do you remember everything now?"
You do not.
"It is fine," the last Legacy of the Great King says, beginning to sound more and more like the same voice that guided you through your journey, and the same voice that helped you regain your memories through each task, "I wanted to save you from a painful memory but it cannot be helped."
Time starts again, in the scene playing in front of you. The hallway glows brighter. The Great King does not notice Excalibur, but instead, fiddles with the locks. He puts a hand on the box. "Then we are at peace. It is time for us to leave this world, and our Legacy behind."
No.
A thin wooden staff protrudes through Great King's skull. It creates a hole, and then begins to crackle along the center, upwards in spider-like branches until-
- The box clatters onto the ground, along with a single memento of what remained of the Great King. His crown.
"I loved you most." Merlin picks up the box, placing the crown on his own head. "That is why I and only I understand the depth of this Revenge." He suddenly pauses. His voice takes on a mocking tone. "I know you're here. You were her to prove me wrong all this time weren't you? I guess it would make sense for you to know me best. The last Legacy of the late King Arthur, Excalibur."
Slowly, the armoured figure reveals himself, reluctantly. He steps forward to face Merlin, sword already drawn.
"I see through your futile attempts," Revenge, the figure in black says, readying his staff. The end of the staff now shimmers a deep muted violet, "You are only a vessel of the Great King after all. Using borrowed memories to overwhelm the Legacies, just enough to send them truly to sleep. Destruction was first, the Lady Morgana. She rose so quickly only to be overwhelmed by the memories you sent to consume her, trapped and chained and then ultimately set her to rest, her power and hold finally broken. Again and again you did it, the Throne and the Grail were easy, they always served your King, after all. Even the poor Mordred, and Nimue were subject to the same treatment, overwhelmed, enough to rewrite their own Legacies, before you pushed them to eternal sleep. A true death, with nothing lingering behind. All the Legacies would disappear and so the world would be saved from their awakening. You would have all been heroes, you, the Great King, and those you had summoned in hopes that their sacrifice, their memories would save the very world they lived in."
"It almost worked. No, it worked on everyone but I. Maybe ultimately, you were hoping for this. We have been together for a long time, have we not, Arthur's last Legacy? We have been together, bound in a timeless eternity. My impurity is a part of you, my thoughts, my voice, my revenge. You know what I wanted, and you gave this to me."
"No," corrects Excalibur. He steps forward. "I didn't wish for any of this. I just wanted you to rest as well. I just wanted all of us to rest."
"Then sleep like the rest of them." Merlin laughs, mockingly, and then tosses the box onto the ground, the chains clattering. "Be like them. Your work is done. You are no longer needed."
The last Legacy of the Great King moves closer. He raises his sword. "I vow to protect, and I still will, as long as I have power. There are others who have fought this entire journey, who have sacrificed everything they believed in, to their very essence, to see this carry through, to see their worlds saved. I will honour their sacrifice and their memories."
"Sacrifices." Revenge spits the word out. "Is this your backup plan? To use the memories of those you called for help as sacrifices, as power? These useless, insignificant, impure memories. The memories of worms. Those memories do not help you, they taint you. They corrupt your power with their own selfish greed and desires and make you more mortal than you would ever wish to be. I know you, Excalibur. We have almost been one for so long. I know mortality is not what you desire, you wish to die with honour, and so I will grant you this one last wish. I will destroy these memories. I will take them, and shred them, piece by piece, bit by bit. There will be nothing left. They will cease to exist, until you will be able to never, ever use them."
You suddenly become very aware that you are still there. Merlin is staring right at you. You notice, too slowly, as he presses, no lunges, forward, and then grabs at you with one clawed hand. Your form begins to quiver, shake, as you loose all that you gained, as you become undone, your memories consumed-

. .. ... Someone is calling. You don't see it, you feel it. You hear it but inside of you, from your very existence. It beckons and whispers to you. It welcomes you towards it.
Sight doesn't quite make sense, neither does the physical aspect of touch or hearing. You have been trapped so long as a convoluted mess of everything, without sense of self or meaning that you have forgotten what it is like to be yourself. It is quiet. It feels quiet. You feel alone. Slowly, you take one step, a second. It feels odd to move, it feels odd to move and realize these are actions of your own deliberation only. You feel weak and strange. You are no longer a fragment but complete. Whole. The body you move is yours alone.
It is white around you. Fog. You were once this fog, a cauldron of thoughts and broken memories churning over and over together eternal limbo. Now it seems oddly still. It is quiet. No memories.
A door awaits in front of you, and on it is inscribed a single sentence:
Who are you?
You are-
Someone-
- a promise -
- forgotten-
- betrayal -
- who -
- why -
A long winding path.
All memories lay on each side of it, frozen.
"This is not the end."
You continue to walk forward.
"You still have your promise to keep."
You continue to walk down this singular path.
" I waited this long. Do you remember why?"
You continue to walk down this singular path.
" I let you make your own decisions. Do you remember why?"
You continue to walk down this singular path.
" I gave you time to ponder. Do you remember why?"
You continue to walk down this singular path.
" I protected you all this time. Do you remember why?"
You finally reach the end of the path. There is something blocking the way. A wall.
"Do you remember why?"
You press your hand against the wall and regain your last lost memory.
A lost memory And at the end there is only a vortex. A black, seething mass of destruction, tearing everything apart. Memories, names, people, everything is sucked in until there is nothing but darkness and revenge. "I have shattered the precious memories you gathered," Revenge continues to speak, but it sounds distant, muffled. Deja vu. "Your help has been destroyed. Scattered. Devoured. It is too late." A barrier of blue however, protects you. You feel someone watching you. You feel Protected. "- It is done," says the voice, the barrier. "But it is not too late to regain those memories. I will protect you until you are complete again. You will fight then, when you return. You will fight to save everything you believe in. You must do this to remember yourselves. Only you can put your memories together. All of the memories that define and create you. Remember why you are here and when you fully remember why, come back and find me again." You look at Excalibur and everything that the last Legacy has fought for. It feels cold and dark. Your vision is blurring. You look at the one Protecting and wonder if you will truly remember them. No. This is a promise. You will remember what occurred in order to fulfill the promise, the sacrifice. You will return. The last thing you see before you close your eyes and all your memories are scattered is the darkness of Revenge looming against you, laughing. You hear their malevolence seep through even your subconscious. "You returning makes no difference. The world will end. This world will become nothing. I will consume this world. I will consume this world because ------- . In the end you are worthless, and your memories are as good as scattered dust."
The wall finally shatters, and you are once again met with a terrible sight. A world of darkness, mutated, rampant, out of control. It consumes everything it touches, all the memories it presses and expands into.
"I have been waiting. Do you remember why? As long as there are memories of the world that existed, I will remain."
A voice. You know it. The last Legacy of the Great King. The rise, they awaken, and they strike back, a burst of bright blue that pushes the darkness back one step at a time.
"As long as there are those who wish to Protect, I will remain."
The darkness shrieks, terrible, in agony, as they continue to be pushed back.
"As long as there are those who wish to fight, I will remain."
With one final shriek, the darkness fades away. You have won. No, you have simply regained what is yours, finally and completely. You remember who you are, where you are. You remember what happened now.
You remember waking up earlier that morning and seeing that terrible, horrible gash in the sky. Putrid reds and greens, oranges and whites curling into the sky and bleeding into everything. The Tear. Distortion, creating leaks, false memories wherever they touched. It happened so fast before the tear consumed all reality. Even those the greatest of enemies banded together. They had everything to lose. It seemed futile.
You remember then, being called by Excalibur. It was a dream maybe. It was a calling. You remember being asked to trust your memories to them. They could protect everything you believed in. So they could stop the Legacies from reawakening. They could close The Tear. They could save you and the very reason you existed.
If you could save everything, if you could return everything back to the way it was, from absolute annihilation, from pure oblivion, who were you to refuse? You only had mere moments before all was consumed and you stopped existing. You took their offer, and all they asked in return was to borrow your memories, the memories that created Distortion -
- And Excalibur used them to summon the memory of the Great King. He used them to place the rampant Legacies to rest until only one remained. Merlin.
- Merlin, who saw through the plan. Merlin, who took your memories and shattered them, wholly and completely. Everything you had worked up to now had to be remembered again, one more time.
"Do you remember why?"
Excalibur was still waiting. You still had a promise to keep.
You had promised to sacrifice your memories to save everything you believed in. Memories, your existence, those of your friends, those of the very fabric of this reality.
This is your story as a hero.

"Or so it goes."
What was light turns dark again. The hunger and anger this time is more terrible than ever. It breaks right through Excalibur's shield and claws at you, threatening to eat you, to devour you. You are but tiny morsels, morsels of memories that they can use as power. Indeed, memories are power, they are Distortion. If Distortion is power, then power could be used for Protection or Revenge.
Excalibur is too weak. Your return is not enough. The darkness begins to consume him, and he reaches out to you with the last of his power.
"It is time." You now know what they are talking about. Perhaps you feel a bit sad, but you did already promise. "It is time for your sacrifice. Your regained memories, I will treasure them, and I will use this power to turn everything back to the way it should be. Memories are precious, old and new. They are the reason why each and every of you is so important."
There is no choice. You promised. Excalibur even explained it himself. Fight Distortion with Distortion. Fight, to bring back your old world. A last battle, Protection against Revenge.
"It is time," repeats the last Legacy of the Great King, quietly and gently. "Do not worry, I am only borrowing your memories, just their power as memories. We will do this together and then, once more, these memories will be returned to you. It might take a while, you may have to search them again, but I promise I will always guide you."
"It is too late" counters Merlin, and the world, your world twists and unfolds once again.
It is ugly and marred. Odd, unusual structures crumble in what should have been a sky, blotted and discoloured, irregular shapes flow burst out freely from all directions. Everything is undone.
"It is too late now." The Legacy of Revenge clashes against you, and you feel a blast of pure, raw power, and for a moment, you feel overwhelmed.
"Your memories, quickly now." Excalibur protects you, but barely. "We can still win."
OOC: THE FINAL BATTLE THE FINAL BATTLE: VERSUS, MERLIN PART 1The world is consumed by ??? and broken. Everything you know is now twisted and broken, not like Insanity, but more than Insanity. Distortion, created from memories. The byproduct of the Legacies of King Arthur tearing into this world through Distortion. The byproduct of Merlin using Distortion to bend this world to his will. Colours run wild and amok. Buildings twist and turn into organic trees and then convoluted spires before turning upside down; it is too saturated, too real, and too horrendous to look at, as if trying to look at multiple overlaid images at once that simply should not exist in the same area, if at all. Merlin controls this distorted world now. He controls all the memories the Distortion in this world. Everything will cease to exist. And yet, Excalibur has reminded you of the promise. You promised to help protect and save this world. You promised to sacrifice your memories for this cost, the price that he mentioned. Excalibur promises to return those memories, the memories that were so difficult to regain. You are faced with a dilemma. Are you truly ready to sacrifice them again? gaia_crown [ Sacrificing Memories: ]- At this point your character has regained ALL THEIR MEMORIES prior to the meta INCLUDING the ones leading to it (see the scenes above). - This battle is different from any and all boss battles prior. You can only "attack" when you sacrifice a memory, by giving your memory to Excalibur. Excalibur will be powered up by memories that you offer to it. At the end of the round he will attack Merlin with the memories you have offered. - Please post at the bottom of your post in OOC QUOTES the points you have sacrificed, and the CUMULATIVE points (by adding the points from the person posting above you) that you have used so far to "power up" Excalibur with Distortion. You do not need to write the whole memory, just a sentence snippet is fine. You can post them all in the same post, just tally it upExcalibur has been waiting a long time for you to regain your memories back. He is weakened. We will need memories (Distortion) in order to power himself up. - At 50 points, he will be able to protect you from all harm - At 100 points, he will be able to restore his power - At 300 points, he can finally move. He can finally counterattack and strike against Merlin. - Any higher and ???? A major blessing counts for 10 points. To sacrifice a major blessing, it must be in your Heart Log. Post the image of the blessing. Then, write a memory related to it. Simply write a memory that the Major Blessing has a theme of, for example if it says "Strong", write a memory of something "strong". Offer this memory to Excalibur. You will then forget this memory. A minor blessing counts for 2 points. To sacrifice a minor blessing, it must be in your Heart Log. Post the image of the blessing. Then write a very quick memory related to it, just 1-2 lines related to that memory. It can be anything, but it has to be one complete memory, and it has to be one you regained from this metaplot event. Ie, in this meta prior to regaining all your memories, your character remembered the time they spent with their grandparent. You can now use this memory as a minor blessing sacrifice and write about it. gaia_crown [ Meta Timeline and Visual Aid ]: - Full timeline synopsis version - OOC Visual Aide (Prior to Merlin's d**k Move) gaia_crown [ Phase 1 Deadline ] You have until Sat at 7:30 PM PST before this phase ends and the second phase begins. gaia_crown [ Recording your posts ] Make sure you record your memory sacrifices in your Heart Log! All the ones you posted to sacrifice, repost them again in your Heart Log, so you know yourself which ones you made @ what your character temporarily gave up, so they can regain them later! These memories you sacrifice will be temporarily lost but you will have the option to RP post meta and regain them! gaia_crown [ NEXT POST: ]- The next meta installment is SAT AUG 23rd AT 7:30 PM PST

Shun was a little dazed. A lot of things were happening before him, and him regaining all of his memories at once coupled with the events at hand were a little overwhelming to deal with. The staff.. revenge.. Merlin. He had just struck down the Great King and now the blade, Excalibur, Protection, was defending them all against the black malevolence. He rubbed his temples. His head ached. If nothing was done, then the world would be consumed by Revenge's madness. This much, he was able to understand. He never considered him to be a hero. He never thought once that he would set out to save the world or anything like that. But quite frankly, if the world was to be consumed, it would be the end. It'd be the end for him, the end for Mitsu, and the end for just about everyone who mattered to him. The Reaper didn't think it would be good to just idly sit by when there was something he could do here. Grimacing, he took in a deep breath. Protection needed memories... With some reluctance, he began to give them up. Of all the people Mac could bother to join his stupid group for battle of the bands, he had to approach Shun.
Shun struck the training dummy hard. He had to keep training if he wanted to improve.
He was out of sorts. He was in pain. Yet, she still needed him. She needed a pillar of strength now more than ever, after what she had been through. It wasn't hard. But Shun had to try, for her sake. He needed to take care of himself...
Moving in darkness unnoticed wasn't too difficult for Shun. He managed to get through Invictus's trial on his first attempt.
There was no way that Shun could know if Mitsu was still alive. She could have been turned into a weapon by now. But he couldn't give up hope that she was alright...
After having Mitsu be silent for so long, hearing her voice again was a blessing in itself.

- A barrier dagger hat plunged directly into Gale's hand, pinning the Hunter's arm down. A foot pressed against the back of Gale's head, forcing his face completely down as the pressure increased against his hand, the weapon twisting several times through sinew and bone. The electric-blue crackling from the dagger runes, tore hungrily through raw flesh, a blackened, charred mess. It hissed and crackled, travelling up one arm, peeling away skin upon contact, leaving an undescrible agony, miliseconds trickling into nothing but raw pain-
