He stood at the end of the dock, still as a statue. Beyond him, anchored in deeper water, sat his ship, The Flirty Mermaid. But that was not what held his attention. His one eye, blue as the water, was watching his mid-morning snack bobbing just out of reach. The apple had escaped his grasp and now it teased him. Unicorn magic might have gotten it back if he had thought quickly enough, but it had drifted too far now for his slight powers to be effective. It might have well as been on the moon. Jolly Roger made an annoyed sound and continued to stand there, hoping sheer willpower and his angry stare would lure it back into range.

Overboard usually didn't get very excited of things. Put this was amazing. He had heard there was a real life pirate ship in Phonyland! A real one, not one that was for show either. Once he heard he just had to go see it. His dad actually let him go by himself too! It wasn't until he was in the area until he realized there was water everywhere. It was a real pirate ship, of course it would be in the water. No, he had to go see it, had to. How else could he appreciate the ship. He took a deep breath and approached the docks. But there was another foal there. He was staring at something off in the water. The other colt had an eyepatch? Was he part of the crew for the ship. He probably had to ask him to see the ship, it would be rude to just approach the ship. "Hello?"

Jolly Roger couldn't say he was pleased by the interruption, but he turned his head anyway, looking back over his right shoulder at his new guest. Then quickly reversed the gesture to look over his left shoulder when he was reminded he couldn't see a damn thing with the eye-patch on. A young landlubber, was it? The angry scowl that had begun with the errant apple was hardly lessened as he stared at Overbaord and uttered a single, grumpy, "aye...?"

Eye-patch, definitely a pirate. Must be on the crew of this ship, why else would this other colt be here. Unless he was there to admire the ship too. The other did seem to be looking at the ship, or the water near it. Either way he must have konwn something about the ship. Overboard took a breath, he was going to ask. "Is this your ship?"

"Aye," he said again, except this time his voice deepened with obvious pride and he looked less inclined to throw Overboard into the water just for speaking to him.

Overboard approached the other foal. He showed a bit of excitement from the other replying it was indeed his ship, a pirate ship. "It looks like a magnificent ship from the docks."He wanted to ask to see it but that probably was over stepping some. "Was there something wrong with the water there?" The other foal had been staring at the water pretty intently earlier.

Jolly Roger almost dropped the scowl completely. The other colt seemed so excited and appreciative of his beloved ship, he could help but respond in kind. "She is magnificent, more so than any other vessel."The pirate glanced over his shoulder back at the water, shrugging at the question. "Lost my apple to the depths."

He looked slightly pleased they the other colt started to smile. It was truly an amazing looking ship, indeed something to be proud of! When you found others who appreciated similar things it was nice. Overboard stepped cautiously and glanced from the dock to the water. There was an apple floating in the water. He'd offer to help but, but, water. "That's unfortunate. Can't just go in after it?"

"Nay..." Jolly Roger didn't elaborate on why he wasn't going to go in the water after it. He certainly wasn't going to admit that he couldn't even swim. Not that he was embarrassed exactly. The way he figured, anyone who got thrown off the ship wasn't worthy of getting back on.

Overboard starred at the apple, then looked to the other foal. The other foal really looked sad over the lost apple but why didn't he just get it. "I'd, uh, offer to get it but..." He took a gulp. Water, why did it have to be water.

Jolly Roger shrugged away the offer. "She's lost to the deep," he said, turning his back resolutely on the apple. The other colt was giving the water a very apprehensive look. Perhaps he couldn't swim either?

He sighed. It was pretty far away, the poor apple. "Water is... not my favorite, terrifies me actually." There, he said it. And felt ok with it, better actually from admitting that outloud, to another. Too bad there wasn't something they could do to magically get that apple before it was too far gone. Ruriska thinking we can wrap this up?

Well, that had been honest. Jolly Roger appraised the other colt again and began to feel that he should also admit why the apple was simply impossible for him to reach. One truth deserved another, right? "I can't swim," he said finally.

Overboard was a bit shocked. This other foal was a pirate, but he couldn't swim. That was certainly interesting and brave. Maybe if Jolly Roger could stand being on a ship, he himself could brave it too. Suddenly an idea washed over the colt, why hadn't he thought of this before? "I think we can get this apple. Maybe our combined magic can pick it up and bring it back?" It was worth a shot.

"Hm," was the only sound the pirate made as he looked back at the floating apple. They might as well give it a try. It wasn't as though he was doing anything else at the moment. He nodded to the space beside him, for Overboard to get closer so that they could work together, his horn beginning to glow.
