The world was beautiful and empty for one moment.
Then the white transformed into darker shapes that let him see the wisps of light that wanted him to move forward. At peace, he was happy to oblige. What more could he want than to see what the goddesses wished of him? Or if not them, then their allies, whom he was starting to wonder about . . . more than one power was at work here clearly. Who was the Great King, after all?
Mort found himself in a forest at length with just a blink. Or maybe he had always been there and simply not seen it. Either way, the lights led him to a tree who asked only one thing of him: to preserve her legacy.
He was touched, and a hand rose to his breast as he bowed. "It'd be an honor."
The lake made him slightly nervous (why would water do so?), but it was made of light and gave off a serene aura. He was mesmerized for a moment before he dipped his hands in the water to feed the dying tree that would become birth her child. And maybe, in an odd way, his godchild.

A world that reminds him to never give up.
Quote: Rolling a 5: Your character has been a minipet their entire life. They grew up in the Scarefari, where their parents told them to go to Minipet Battle School. Their hopes is to one day breed with a big, strong minipet and create beautiful children. However, on the way there are many adventures, including being bullied by stronger minipets in the Battle Arena, and nearly being sold to the Black Market, or taken to the Altar of Sacrifice. It's a cruel world in the minipet world, and not everyone is out to help them. If you are a horsemen, hunter, or student, it doesn't matter, you are a minipet, in the minipet setting (anywhere on the site is fair game for interpretation "icly"). You are only writing your character's POV but you can borrow NPCs and any players characters you got permission from.
He was a nervous sort of minipet. Constantly twitching, making sure his glasses didn't fall, making sure he didn't accidentally brush against or touch or disturb others. He felt weird among others because he had been born with a limb that didn't like to stay stitched on--the uneven metal clanks every four steps made him even more self-conscious.
But soon the Minipet Battle School finals would come! It was the final week of preparation, and once again Mort was a mess of mrrs and fur as he studied his notes: elemental weaknesses, the best techniques, what boss gave what loot . . . Oh sweet Minipet Warden, there was so much to learn! The only comfort he had was knowing Alex and Belladonna were over to study buddy, but unfortunately bonds didn't exactly help him memorize things faster . . . if anything, he became more nervous.
Performance anxiety and all that.
But he would do it! They had all promise to graduate together, and that's exactly what they would plan. Mort knew they had their individual strengths (his was just mental fortitude apparently), and together they would pool them together and win this! Yeah!
Good thing he didn't have to sleep, though . . .

A world that demands blood.
Quote: Rolling a 9: Your character only knows about the Arena. They exist in the Arena, they fight in the Arena, they are slaves in the Arena. Every single day, they live, caged, watching countless faces also get roll in, and countless faces die. Every single day they wait for their 99th kill. They are on kill 98. Tomorrow will be kill 99. Tomorrow, they will face - It is up to you how your character looks, and (optionally) what weapons they use as well as who they face. You are only writing your character's POV but you can borrow NPCs and any players characters you got permission from. Undead endurance really was his trump card. Mort was not a particularly proficient fighter, but he was one who could keep going and going long after most would be finished. Lose a limb, beat the opponent with it. Get spelled, overcome it with sheer willpower. Mort had no heart--it made it much easier not to care. No organs, skinny as a pole, clever as a fox: those were what he used to his advantage.
For 98 battles he had avoided her name. The 99th was not so kind.
He stared at the roster with empty eyes as something twisted in a gut that didn't exist. Why? They had both been close to getting out; he had just begun to tend to a flicker of hope in his miserable body. And now, it seemed, their luck had turned against them.
And there they were, one half-rotten, arm sparking, scarred and bloodied and more corpse than person; one tattered, broken hearted, hair mostly gone and spark of light dying in her eyes.
The bell rang.

A world that holds intrigue.
Quote: Rolling a 6: Your character is a private eye detective, and this time, they have been hired on what is claimed to be an unsolvable case. You arrive there with only your handy notepad and your own, sharp eye. Something about the case seems odd, from the body, to the events happening, something paranormal. You feel like there is more to the story than what you've been given, but you can't place a finger on it, not quite yet. If you are a horsemen, hunter, or student, it doesn't matter, you are a detective, in Film Noir setting (in the 1930's). You are only writing your character's POV but you can borrow NPCs and any players characters you got permission from. Mort tipped his cap up and squatted down, examining the crime scene while his partner took notes. Claw marks were too large to be from a domestic pet. No large predators in the area beyond the occasional rogue raccoon or coyote. A sniff revealed there was a tinge of sulfur in the air.
"Odd."
He recited his thoughts to his partner, scratching his chin as he turned to the client, one rather calm Madame Amarus. Her incense reminded him of the Hindi. "Do we have your aid?" she asked, head held high despite the trembling corner of her lips.
"Madame." He pulled his cap down with an eager grin. "We have ourselves a mystery."

There was just a little bit left. Fed memories, the only thing left to do was give it more water, no? Mort nodded to the voice (not at all feeling silly that he was addressing empty air) and followed the lights back to where the . . . well there used to be a lake. Now there seemed to be pools of different water.
And a castle. Mort blinked and felt a tug of longing in his core. What must the inside look like . . . No, wait, focus, boil. Gotta tend to a tree!
There were different choices, but it seemed very simple to him. If the lake had once been a pool of light, why, he ought to give the sapling just the same! So Mort scooped as much of the water as he could and brought it over to pour over the seed. He watched as it grew at a tremendous rate, leaves sprouting like hair upon each new branch. Ad as he watched, Mort became soothed by familiar memories: warm embraces, fist bumps, kisses . . . He almost wanted to sleep enfolded in them.
"Are you satisfied with what I have become?"
"More than enough," he replied blissfully.
