People say I'm:
[A bit off. I'm friendly to those who I like, and ignore the people I don't, but they can all tell there's something that isn't right about me. Maybe it's the way I seem to know exactly what they're thinking.]
But they don't know me:
[I come from a long line of forest elves, and the one human woman who was foolish enough to fall for a tribesman: my mother, who to this day I dearly love. If it weren't for her, I'd have been raised with those barbaric elves, but she knew better than to stay with them. Cradling me in her arms, she ran away the night after my birth, leaving her lover (who had, of course, proven to be a different man than she had thought) behind. She quickly found a human city, careful to rename herself and blend in with society.
I was raised uneventfully at her side for several happy years; at least, until the fateful day of her murder. At the time I was only 12 but I suppose the elven blood in me drove me to search out the culprit. Of course, it was none other than my smitten father, come to take revenge for his broken heart. But my mother, the woman who fed and raised me, dead in her own room! It simply wasn't justified to let him live on. So, I pretended to sympathize with the man, and as soon as I was in his arms, I grabbed the bloody dagger from his sheath and stabbed him in the back.
When the police found his dead body, they found evidence of me and before long I was a wanted criminal. I had to evade them, and was able to do so successfully for nearly four years. In that time I learned the ways of pickpocketing, swindling, and even learned how to thieve from stores. My innocent childish looks got me far enough, and I only took from the better-off. Yet, in the end I was caught by the government regardless. I was put under study for a few months, to see just how "corrupted" I'd become-- I didn't buy into their claims, I'll have you know. Anyways, once they'd deduced what they could about my "condition", I was sent to this blasted prison of an academy, where I stand today... And that's my story.]
Telepathic Ability
[Ever since I came of age, I realized I was able to hear what people around me thought, and at one point I was even able to send my thoughts into the mind of another. Over time, I was able to hone the skill, so that I could freely communicate between minds and to some extent even create hallucinations. But as always, there's a catch. Making illusions is incredibly tiring, and because I'm a novice, it often sends me into a fainting spell if I keep it up for too long. Alongside that, if I'm not careful about concentrating on one person, I may accidentally end up flooding my own head with the thoughts of everybody in the surrounding area-- the pain is enough to have me on my knees. Its best use would be stealth, but in battle, telepathy will get me killed.]

[I've committed 2nd degree murder, dabbled in burglary, and been cited for disorderly conduct.]
