Jaida followed the light through the silver trees until she encountered a larger one, one bigger than the rest. “Oh~” she hummed as she looked up at its empty branches and gleaming silver color. Mist spun around her legs as she felt what she thought was a warm heartbeat within the giant plant. And then she heard the voice. More humming from the winged woman. “Sure! I’ll help you out.” The forest cleared, allowing her a view of the lake that shined white from the lights dancing above it. Jaida giggled as she stepped forward to step into the lake, and to her surprise she heard the voice once more.

“Is that so?” she wondered as she walked out of the lake. She spun around, droplets splashing everywhere before she bent down to cup up some water and carried it to the tree from before. Jaida cocked her head as the tree seemed to revitalize itself, enough to make one acorn that plopped into her palm before it died altogether.

“Uuuuh….”

Acorn: 7

The orbs guided her back to the lake and again she jumped into its cool, white waters. The voice almost rang inside her head as it fed her the next set of instructions. Despite the blurry vision, Jaida managed to spot the shadowy figures of a bubble and reached for it.

Of course Jaida would summon a zodiac rooster. Of course she would. This fact didn’t surprise her much. Neither did it surprise her family, they were just more amused that she now had a pet rooster of sorts to tote around the house and do things with. A young Jaida lounged up in one of the trees planted outside of their house. She adjusted herself to make her brightly-colored wings more comfortable while her rooster calmly rested on her shoulders. One had to wonder how the girl had managed to tame the bird and teach it how to do such a thing. She only smiled when asked.

“So, what do you feel like doing today? I guess we could train again. Perfect your eye-poking skills or something,” Jaida asked, a bandaged hand stroking the bird’s soft feathers. It clucked softly and jumped off, landing safely on the grass. “Um, that’s a yes, right?” She looked over and followed suit.

Jaida wasn’t interested in swimming. If anything, she’d rather learn how to fly a plane. So, why was it she was suddenly in the swimming club. She sulked in the very front of the bus, her hands and legs crossed as she stared at the window. Behind her, she could hear Iyari snicker, “Don’t be such a spoilsport. You’re pretty good at swimming.”

“Yeah, but I don’t want to have to wake up early to practice and go to meets!” Jaida protested, arms uncrossing as she twisted her body to meet Iyari face-to-face. She puffed out her cheeks and continued to grump for the rest of the bus ride. She clung to the seats, but found Iyari’s strength to be too much. The older girl had pulled her out of the bus and into the pool for warm-ups. Jaida popped her head out of the water and coughed, but then Iyari pulled her close and said in a hush, “Look at the other team.”

“Ha?” Her friend forcibly turned her head toward a group of unfamiliar faces. “It’s Deus Ex. Our rival team, remember?” She narrowed her eyes. “I hate them so much…I need to get my revenge on them for that horrible defeat last competition.”

Jaida sunk into the water, blowing bubbles all the water. “Is that so…?” Just leave her out of it!

She was a wizard. It was weird to think about, at least to Jaida. On one hand, she was something magical and amazing, something people thought they could find only in books and fairytales, but they were grossly incorrect. On the other hand, once she learned enough spells she wondered how she would resist the temptation to abuse her powers. The answer was she wouldn’t. Snerk. The girl snickered as she tossed a lock of dark blue hair over her shoulders while walking through the front doors of Pigfarts—the most prestigious wizarding school there was, and she was going to attend it.

The transfer student calmly seated herself in a free chair while she waited for her turn to be sorted. There were four houses within the school, and secretly Jaida hoped she wouldn’t be a Serpentarius. It didn’t fit her at all. She wasn’t cunning; academics had never been her strong suit either. Although it seemed they had a penchant to be vengeful, that didn’t totally qualify her for the house, right? She sighed loudly as she heard her name and she stood up. “Yes!”

When Jaida surfaced, she found that the acorn was no longer an acorn, but actually a sapling. She walked over to curiously poke one of its thin branches before the voice called to her once more. Sighing, she shook the water out of her clothes and wings before walking back to the lake, but this time she could see a castle and tiny waterfalls feeding into the lake. It was certainly pretty, but not what she had come for. Not exactly. “Yes?”

The voice sure requested a lot of things, but Jaida decided she would oblige. Curiosity urged her to take water from the cold pool and so she did. She shuddered at the memories but admitted, “Um, you look cool, at least?”
