Alaska tried to swat away the floating orbs, but to no avail. Instead they seemed to be guiding her somewhere, and reluctantly she followed them until she could see silver trees. At last she found herself in front of a larger tree, barren as the others. She waited and was rewarded with the arrival of a voice. “Oh,” she noted with an unimpressed look. “Yeah, fine.” The forest cleared to reveal a lake and without pause or bravado, dipped her head into the lake to listen to the voice.

Once she had finished listening to it, she got out and scooped up a handful of water to take back to the large tree. She dumped the water, letting the liquid drip all over its trunk as it sprung to life suddenly. Alaska quirked an eyebrow, but watched on with mild interest as it deposited an acorn into her hand before dying. Oh. Okay. Interesting.

Acorn: 14 mm

She didn’t know why she was still playing this game. Alaska wasn’t into games anyways. She was too busy studying for tests or practicing basketball or practicing the 27384 other hobbies she wanted to keep up with while juggling her social life. At this rate she could join the circus as a trapeze artist. Sighing, Alaska signed on and perked up slightly when she received an IM.

SleepyNevada: hey

Alaska narrowed her eyes and typed back a quick reply while the game loaded.

ColdBurns173: aren’t you in the room next door?
SleepyNevada: yeah
ColdBurns173: i can’t believe you
SleepyNevada: just do this one quest with me, okay? I really want the loot drop
ColdBurns173: fine fine. Which one?
SleepyNevada: you know how the legacy event started right?
SleepyNevada: killer boss that’s hard to beat. need healers, but we got em!
SleepyNevada: need some more dps though you in?
ColdBurns173: fine

The raven-haired teen rubbed her temples before taking her hunter toward the designated area to meet up with her twin and the rest of the party. She couldn’t help but narrow her eyes at the giant group of white coats. All hunters. “Really?” she murmured as her hands flew across the keyboard to begin the battle.

All she had ever known and breathed was the Arena. She couldn’t remember when she had first joined, but it was far too long for Alaska’s liking. Bright green eyes stared coldly at the other figures huddled in their own cages. To think, someday she would likely face these faces in combat and she would mercilessly mow them down. It was a matter of life and death; that was all. There were no hard feelings between the participants because they were all pieces inside the Arena, just slaves waiting to die or fight the next battle.

And soon she would face her 99th. So close. The door to her cage rattled and she looked toward the lock. So it seemed her turn was next. Sighing, Alaska got to her bare feet and casually strolled out. She held out a hand for her usual weapons and gripped each leiomana tightly in her hand. Grimacing, the woman rolled her neck as she walked into the stage and found herself greeted with loud cheering. She wanted to laugh. Just let her go now.

And when she stepped out, she stared at her own face.

It was the End of the World. It was the End of the World, and somehow she was still alive, but now she was fighting just to survive. Alaska hissed as she tried to sneak through the ruins of a city. She didn’t even know what city this was. She found herself wandering from town to town, city to city, wherever she could seek shelter from the horsemen. Sometimes she would strike lucky and meet a fellow hunter or a member of the resistance, but for the most part she was on her own.

She clicked her tongue, annoyed. Alaska could hear her weapon’s giggle ringing in her head, then shrieking. The screaming sent her into alert mode, Alaska began to run for it, hands gripping her weapon. She clicked her tongue again when she heard footsteps behind her. When she turned around she could see the blacks and dark purples of a death horseman. “Really?” she wondered aloud, darting into an alley and took a sharp turn to the left.

I hope I can outrun this guy!

She walked out of the lake soaking wet. For the love of….Alaska was about to grumble, but then noticed that her acorn had magically grown into a sapling. Magic really did do wonders. Brows furrowed when the voice insisted she wasn’t quite done, so with great reluctance she returned to the lake, only it had transformed.

“Huh.”

Alaska wasn’t interested in the scenery, so she opted to listen to the voice instead.

Obediently, the hunter bent down to take water from the dark pool. Her eyes narrowed as the tree sprung to life, forming a bright red apple. It felt rather tempting, but heavy and regretful at the same time. “I’m not sure,” she answered honestly.
