Ying cracked the door open slowly, worried that something might jump out at her. The only thing in the room was a gargoyle with a strange purple hat- she kind of liked that hat so it was a plus for Ying.
"Lo! Tis a merry wanderer before me! I am the guide, Dirk Bladegod the Excellent. Thou must be on a mission of great import to hath wandered so far and found mine castle!"
"Oh! U-Um! Yes, I am very s-sorry for intruding um-"
"Yon locked door needs three keys to open, all turnt upon the same breath. Moving forward is not a task for a solo adventurer, so thou shall needest to keep a party of fellow heroes!"
Ying nodded. "Oh yes um, I suppose so ... " She hadn't thought about that at all. Would it indeed be easier with other people? She didn't want to put others at risk though. She'd hoped she could just sneak past the floors unnoticed, but it was proving to be more difficult than she thought.
"But worry not! Though it might seemeth empty of souls, many other travelers are on the same path as thee! We've just used the arcane majicks to summon the Power of the Instance to keep such company from crowding, littering, and throwing parties in our sacred halls! Just look inside and reflect upon thy need, chant the spell Ell Eff Jhee, and thou shalt soon findst a group of like-minded warriors to aid you on your quest. And now..."
Ying waited, hanging on his every word.
"Aw s**t." Dice went flying everywhere and the gargoyle began to grumble to himself.
"Well um ... thank you, mister," she said. Maybe the other doors would be better....

Through the door was a tiny table. It wasn't anything special, it wasn't anything extraordinary. On the table, right in the center, was a singular little nikuman. It looked rather out of place in such a place, but Ying's mouth was already watering. Her mother used to make those on the days of the Artisan festivals- it was one of the rare times she used profused amounts of meat.
Ying sat down at the table, memories of her mother fading in and out. One time with Papa sitting at the table. One memory of Ying stealing her brother's bun- Jing had cried and cried and eventually Ying was forced to return the bun, though somewhat begrudgingly.
She found herself quickly growing sick of the food, but the bun never seemed to end. It was so good, and yet ... the memories were making it sickly sweet.
It finally ended. The gargoyle approached her, mint and key in hand. She took the key first, remembering the big rule about this place, and took the mint second. "Th-Thank you um ... I don't know what came over me..."

Ying squinted. Was that a key around his neck? That was a key around his neck. She was going to have to swim.

Water fell over her head. It felt like her whole body was trying to inflate with water. She was definitely going to die. RIP Ying.

Suddenly a shark was behind her, causing her to jet through the water at the speed of light. She needed to get out of here, stat. The cramps melted away and Ying booked it.

Marzena had pretty much marched past the next gargoyle, because really, it wasn't giving her anything helpful. Perhaps behind this door, there would be something--oh.
She stared down a younger version of herself, who still had long blond hair.
"Papa will never like you as much as he likes Raddie." The little girl whispered.
