Warm, white light. Wilson closed his eyes at first, but as the light dimmed he realized it was separating from him. When he opened his eyes, he stared at the wispy tendrils, gesturing for him to walk forward, so he did. Everything was different—at least compared to Destruction. He liked the change in atmosphere. Thin mist trailed around his feet, but unlike Destruction’s fog it was wispy and gentle, almost forgiving. It allowed him to walk toward the music with confidence. The more he walked, the more orbs began to appear. He kept walking, looking up at them with an amused smile.
The trees were pretty—thin, silver, and devoid of leaves. But they somehow unnerved him with their almost identical appearances. At the very end, Wilson found himself standing in front of a tree that hung over the others. He was surrounded by only silence, but he felt something else. Another presence, perhaps? Wilson tilted his head slightly.
"At last," it echoes, a feminine voice, and you realize it is coming from the tree. "At last, someone has arrived to hear my tale. It has been so long, I have been silence too long, taken and hidden, my power feared but not respected, cultivated until I am barren and empty. This is all that remains of my Legacy, but I am not finished, not yet. As long as my powers remain, my children will prosper after me. They will take up my mantle, to protect, to serve, to remember, and to grieve. Men like the Great King will rise again, and fall just as easily, but I only wish to serve. Come now. Help me fulfill my last desire."

Her words bemused him, but he walked forward until he encountered a lake. Wilson hesitated at first, admiring the glowing orbs that bobbed over the smooth waters. The light bounced off the water, giving the lake’s surface a white sheen. Thin mist swirled around the trees as he followed the urge to step to the lake. He didn’t know what convinced him to, but he plunged his head into the water and heard the voice. It asked and pleaded. His heart tugged and Wilson obliged. He ran a hand through his dripping hair once the orbs gently pulled him out. With no other containers to use, he reluctantly cupped his hands and walked with extra care while the lights guided him toward the barren tree. It shook gently before suddenly sprouting an acorn. With a sudden shudder, the acorn fell and he reached out for it. As it landed into his palm, the tree withered.
The orbs guided him back to the lake. Wilson pressed his lips together when he heard silence, and reluctantly ducked his head back in. Grief. He found himself pulled deeper into the waters as shadowy figures formed. Curious, a hand reached for a bubble.

One had to wonder how many Asians actually lived in the Wild West, but that was a question Wilson Hopkins didn’t feel like answering or thinking about altogether. What he did know, however, was that his family had had one hell of a time making their way across the plains, and even now their life wasn’t easy. Sigh.
He walked into the parlor quiet as he could, trying to attract as little attention as he could. Lips pressed together in a thin line while he tipped his hat low to obscure most of his face. He couldn’t force himself to hunch over and kept standing straight, but tilted his head to avoid eye contact with most of the occupants within the room. Wilson stared at his boots as he managed to snake through the tables to his usual place at the far end of the counter. The bartender snickered soon as he noticed the young lad sliding into the stool. “The usual?”
“Yessir,” he murmured, cautiously pulling off his hat and setting it to the side. Minutes passed and his eyes lit up when the bartender returned with a mug. A delighted Wilson reached for the drink before the doors slammed open.
“Where is he?!”
He shrunk, hastily putting on his hat. Wilson slid behind the counter and placed a finger to his lips. “Don’t tell them I’m here.”

Wilson walked in with his notepad. The room was dim, but he could still see the horrible disarray it was in. Sighing, he reached for what appeared to be a lamp and switched it on to reveal the victim lying by the desk. At least, the detective could see the woman’s delicate hand peaking from it anyways. He sighed, but stood by the lamp to take note of the room’s condition. Mostly untouched, save for the papers strewn by the desk. One of the frames was tilted, with the glass cracked at the corner. He walked closer to examine the victim and wince when he saw the grisly sight. It was odd to see how clean the woman actually looked save for the beastly claws embedded into her corpse.
But then he squinted his eyes. The markings were far too large for a normal creature to make. Holding in his breakfast, Wilson knelt down to see the slashes even more. His initial observation seemed to be correct. Yet, what could be the cause of this? He angled his head away slightly, a gloved hand cupping his chin. The detective’s gut reaction was something supernatural.

He stared at his hands to make sure he wasn’t dreaming. It was absolutely possible Wilson had made this all up. For the longest time he had thought he had been just human, but he was wrong. The truth had finally come to light—he was a wizard. Not only was he a wizard, but attending Pigfarts, a prestigious school for magic. Lips curled into an excited grin as he walked through the school hallways. This was it! He was going to learn magic. He wasn’t normal. He was a wizard.
The young man seated himself at the table with the other transfer students who waited to be sorted. He laced his fingers together and excitedly watched the others before him fall into one of the four houses. While each had their merits, he definitely hoped he could land into Capricorn.

Wilson took a deep breath as he adjusted his goggles. They smacked against his head, but the pain was nothing. He'd done it a million times before.
He rolled his neck as he stepped onto the starting block. He stared at the water, then at the rival team. His eyes narrowed. They were vying for the gold medal too, but he would be taking first place. Sorry guys. Grinning, he slid down his goggles and knelt down, hands grasping the edge of the block. He kept his head down and as soon as the buzzer started, he leapt.

Wilson sat down on the floor, one book in one hand and casually scratching his summon with the other. He tilted his head slightly as he silently read his textbook. Darn teacher was going to give a pop quiz tomorrow, he could feel it....
Meanwhile, he calmly scratched the back of the dog's ear. He could hear the canine panting softly, its tongue lolling in and out. Wilson smiled as he decided to put the book down and suddenly wrapped his arms around his summon. "How you feeling, buddy?" he asked, which was answered with a happy lick to the face. He laughed and ran his hand through its fur. "I see, I see. Well, how about we go for a walk, eh?" he wondered, ambling to his feet and gesturing for the guardian to follow.

And then his seed grew into a sapling at last. But then he heard a voice. Wilson returned to the lake, but instead found himself treated to a spectacular sight. A castle stood in the distance, with water falling from rocks at varying heights. Picture-perfect beauty. The voice urged him to take water once more, and he did.
His gaze ran over the different pools before something urged him to take from the warm pool. Wilson leaned back as his tree suddenly sprung to life, orbs glowing. He grinned. “Of course.”
