Natron was much less smug this time, when he went to meet General-King Zinkenite. The man's chastisement rung in his ears, and he prayed that what he'd done to fulfill his assignment would be enough to raise him in his General-King's esteem.
He was well aware that he was desperate for approval, but given that the climate at home was moving decidedly towards "hostile and uncomfortable" he needed to know that someone was proud of him. It was sad, really.

Zinkenite, more often than not acted as though he was –waiting- for people, at least when he wasn’t buried in his notes and ultimately distracted. This was one of those times where he seemed to have been waiting. He nodded at Natron, a greeting and an affirmation, even going so far as to pull down the mask that covered the better part of his face, revealing a small but sincere smile. He nodded, “Natron.”

Natron relaxed a little when the General-King removed his mask. It was easier to feel comfortable when he was staring at a person, not a faceless superior.
"General-King Zinkenite." He bowed, which still seemed polite to him. "I'm here to report on my progress completing the assignment you gave me. It's gone well," he said, opening quickly with positive news.

“I do look forward to hearing your report.” He said with another nod. “I hope you have found it as beneficial as I am –sure- I will?” He gave a small nod of his head in turn to the bow, an acknowledgement of the gesture of respect. “Start then at the beginning shall we?” He waved a hand inviting the man to begin.

"My first subject for research was Eden Page of Cosmos." Ah, poor girl, she had been so scared. "She attempted to talk me out of taking a civilian started. When I proceeded anyway, she attempted - rather poorly - to fight me. Not a threat now, far too frightened to be any danger, but her weapon was some kind of candle lantern, which was slow to swing but I imagine would hurt if hit. No magic." He frowned. "She was something of an optimist, I think. One of those who sees the good in everyone."

He nodded, interested. “Do you have papers on her description? Poor fighter or not she could get better, it’d be in her best interest to learn.” He waved his hand, brushing away the thought. “No…go on, when you fill out the proper form in the database, we will have everything and it can be complied to other files as well. Pages don’t generally seem to have magic, they’re not unlike Lieutenants.”

"I do," Natron said. He had a decent-sized file of things to send over to the database after his meeting with Zinkenite. When Zink made the comparison between Pages and Lieutenants, he couldn't help but think back to what Camelot had said. "A Knight told me, a long while back, that officers are Knights infected with Chaos, much like our Senshi. Is there evidence for that?" Zinkenite seemed the one to ask.

“I think there is some truth in the –roots- of that thought.” He nodded. “The castle in the rift… it was once the castle of earth, cast down thanks to the ‘Royalty of the Moon’, but they will always refer to us as ‘inflicted’ or ‘corrupted’”
He shook his head and exhaled softly.
“But for all their ‘good’, we’re not the one bringing small children into this war… are we.” He hissed and waved the thought away. “Go on, sorry to subject you to my train of thought.”

Natron nodded. Perhaps in the past, there had been some connection. The idea that his starseed had once belonged to a Knight rankled at him, but at least he was on the right side now. "A matter of perspective, I suppose." That was how it was in a war, each side trying to demonize the other.
"No apologies necessary, sir. The ones they call chibi senshi...they are disgusting and horrifying." Involving small children in an awful war.... Still, he had reports to give. "There was a second Page as well, of Neptune. We fought, but I like to hope that I made him doubt, at least a little. I wonder how many of them really think about where their names, their titles come from. Not many, I suspect."

Songstress Kitsune [/quote “I doubt it as well, they might recognize a handful of names from literature, say…Camelot, Babylon, but I wonder if they consider the rest. Look at our own, part of the bones of the earth, Minerals and stones, the strong roots of the world.” “The different natures of the stones.” He shrugged slightly. “Senshi, named for stars, constellations, the fact that that makes them almost boundless is perhaps… not a good thought but if you think about the fact that they are appearing almost exclusively now in this city, it explains about their numbers, don’t you think?”

Natron nodded. It seemed natural, to him, that as the champions and defenders of Earth, officers should have names of stones and minerals and all the things that built the planet.
"Hm. Is there a senshi, then, for every star in the sky - do you think?" That was an awful thought. It made their enemy endless, almost unstoppable. But that didn't mean it wasn't worth it to fight. "If that's true, then it does explain why there are so many...like flies, they're everywhere."
