Much like he had after obtaining his guns, Bren took a little break from helping others to help himself learn how to use his new sword.
He knew there had to be more to it than just lifting and swinging. The pistols had required little in the way of true marksmanship when he truly began listening to them, and he hoped this giant weapon would prove to be similar.
Brenley staked out a spot in the fog and stood with his eyes closed and his hands on its pommel, trying to feel a connection. Eventually, moments before he was sure he was about to feel something, there was an odd tapping at his shoulder.
All at once, he lifted the sword and struck, viciously stabbing its end into a mass of grey... fabric. Pegging him as easy prey, the throne tackled him soon after. He scrambled to his feet as quickly as his body would allow, moving away from his foe and raising the blade again. When it began galloping toward him, Brenley lowered the sword slowly. The creature staggered and slumped and as Brenley approached, he contemplated how much he had learned here.
