The dry air sucked the last remnants of water from him, making his scales itch. Merope stood uncertainly within the ruined shack, staring at the creatures before him. Only the Greatest can succeed., the Great King had said.
Merope stared unhappily at the animals (and by extension the task) before him. He wasn't great. He was anything but Great. But... But it would be okay if he tried, right?
His hands shook as he untied the Goat, eying the saddle warily. He didn't know how to ride, and he didn't trust himself in the saddle. With a tug, Merope lead the creature out of the shack and into the Plains.

Merope wasn't aware of the additional company until the reins of his mount were snatched out of his hands. The mountain goat bleated as it lashed out, kicking with its power hind legs.
"Hey!" Merope shouted, snatching at his staff only to shake it after the rapidly disappearing figures. A quick check of his supplies revealed the damaged done. The undead shook his head as he rearranged his supplies, ensuring that they were more or less in order before he grabbed the reins of his mount and lead him on.
