"So, you definitely are a voice. But what makes you The Voice? Are you the King of All Voices? The King who helped me out? How does that work?" Liselotte mused, a grin on her face. Sure, she was grateful to the Great King for saving her life, and for giving her a purpose -- a vague purpose, but a purpose nonetheless. But it was hard to stay serious when she felt like this -- not yet whole, perhaps, yet full of more color and life than she had ever felt. She felt solid. With her feet firmly on the ground, she could walk, skip, jump, and run the rest of the way without fear of losing hold on what tenuous existence she had. It was enough to make her forget about the terrible things she saw in that gray world.
For now, at least. There was a more important task to worry about.
Besides, how could she stay sad when there were such cute animals waiting for her? She cooed and gave a pat to each one, but ended up gravitating to the fluffiest of them all. She was pretty sure it was called an alpaca. It reminded her of the white creature in one of the memories the Great King had returned to her -- Nanabey, she said her name was. Her familiar.
"Maybe I'll call you Nanabey, huh? Or how about Nana?" She said, stroking the alpaca's soft head. "Come on, Nana. Let's go explore!"
After ransacking the old shack for supplies, Liselotte saddled up her new mount and sent it galloping off towards adventure.

"We're making pretty good progress, aren't we, Nana?" Liselotte said proudly, rubbing her faithful alpaca's fluffy head. She (as Liselotte decided) bleated in reply. "Yup, I think we're about... a quarter of the way there!"
She stared proudly at the map. Then realized that it was upside down.
"... Oh. We're... not all that far. I was wondering why I could still see the shack from here..."

"Okay... so... we didn't make much progress..." Liselotte muttered, tilting the map around to make sure she did, in fact, have it right-side up this time, "And I might've fed you a bit too much. That's okay. I can't ask you to puke it up, and food is good for growing alpacas anyway. I'm sure we'll have enough to reach the end!"
Then, as if the plains were conspiring against Liselotte and her misplaced optimism, a gaggle of bandits galloped towards her, astride four powerful horses. Before Liselotte could react, they made off with one of her supply satchels.
"THIEVES!" Liselotte yelled, drawing her sword. "That doesn't belong to you! GIVE IT BACK! Nana, come on, we have to chase them!"
She tugged hard on Nana's reins. Unfortunately, her ambling gait simply wasn't enough to catch up to the bandits, and they were soon lost to the mist, while Liselotte and Nana were no further than where they started. The only consolation was that the knaves hadn't stolen any food.
"Let's just keep going..." She sighed.
