Rei has reached back the place he met with the Great King. It was once a great throne in a hall full of luxury...but now it was just ruins.
He can't find the King anywhere.
"Just...where did he go?" Ge groaned. All that walking has made his feet sore, so he casually touched the pillar, stained in green...
You feel something moving beneath you. The air is pleasant and warm, complete with a brisk chill. Before you can open your eyes you feel something heavy clap your shoulder.
With a jolt you awaken, blinking and squinting at the bright light you find yourself facing. Loud laughter erupts from around you as the weight lifts from your shoulder, only to reappear as a quick slap on your back. "Haha! Fell asleep there, eh?" The hand belongs to someone made out of shadows smiling widely at you. They are riding upon a shadowy creature. You notice that you are on a similar beast.
Another beast and rider pulls up next to you on the other side. "Come on, it's not that far now. We'll be able to get this all sorted out soon." They nod forward, "See? It's already in sight."
You can make out a building in front of you. The building is decorated with figures that have been worn down by the passing of time, leaving them open to interpretation. The building itself looks as if it was carved out of the cliff-side it was built into. Or was it built against it? It's difficult to tell from here.
"Oh, not this agai...?"
He trailed off. The movement of the companions slowed.
Time slowed.
Before coming in a complete stop.

The frozen world turns grey as the Goddess of Ruin leans on her scythe, looking down on you. "Haven't you done this before? Or at least seen it? Ah; I thought so." She shakes her head. The Goddess raises her fingers and snaps. She vanishes; the frozen gray world vanishes and everything rushes on as if nothing happened. Where did she go, more importantly, what did she do?
"-Hah!" As you look around, you notice you are surrounded by a group of seven shadow-people, each one mounted upon a shadow beast. There is a sense of familiarity about them, then the memory teases itself free: all of you set out together, each unified in a single goal. There is something here, something that is hidden at the end of the map. Didn't you pay a pretty penny for that map? Or did you steal it? It's... it's a bit unclear, and hurts to think too much upon.
Your thoughts are shattered as a shout reverberates throughout the area. A dark arrow hisses out of the surroundings, lodging itself into the throat of the shadow-person beside you. You watch helplessly as they fall off their beast with a gurgle, clutching at their throat. "Take cover!" It didn't matter who shouted it; whether it was you or one of your six remaining companions, you now have something else to worry about.
That was...the Goddess of Ruin!? Just what...but that mean, we are still in their world, although not as a shadow anymore?
Rei pondered. And what is this about a reward?
This time, he decided to move out of the flow. He already know that this is just a fabricated reality; a memory that he's forced to partake.

THE GAUNTLET - PART ONE
You dismount off your shadow-beast and run, taking cover. There must be several hiding, watching with bows drawn and arrows notched for any of your party to reveal themselves. You can hear the determined stomp and crash as others still search for your group on foot.
Your companion who was shot earlier is still there in the middle of the road. As you watch, they slowly begin to fade away. There was no time to pull them aside, to offer them last rights. And to be truthful, there are more pressing matters on your mind. You need to get out of there.
Your group can either fight them directly or sneak around. Should you have multiple player-characters in your group, you may choose different options.
Rei sighed. He found what have changed. The shadow companions in 'this' memories, twisted by Ruin Goddess' powers, is unlike the companions from the gauntlet before: they hardly talked, and the way they moved...well, It's just like they're just...there for something.
It's like, they are just side-attachments.
I kinda miss them... Thought Rei, when the knights started to move. Wait, it's now becoming a battle royale!? Groaned him, summoning his scythe-
THUD.
"-waugh!"
Instead of a Scythe called Lost Memories...a Greatsword popped up; while it was a lot lighter than what it appears, still the overall weight is higher than the one before.
"What happened to the scythe!?" He asked, lifting the large blade with two hand to parry an attack.
"...this would make your adventure this time more exciting...you may thank your 'Heart' for this one." the Goddess of Ruin whispered from somewhere. "-I thank you for your concern but this is HEAVY!!!"
A knight wandered from the horde, which has been pushed back by the shadow companions-
He tried to dismiss the greatsword to no avail. "Don't tell me I'm going to drag this all way iin!?"
With a thud and a clank, the shadow Knight readies its blade. It says nothing, but it doesn't need to. Not when it is fighting with murderous intent!

Somehow, he can feel that. The large arms seems unwieldy at first...but after a few swing, he can move it perfectly as it were weightless-

Defending himself, he gave the blade a quick kick, sending it forward-
And knocked the Knight into the air. After it landed, the Knight didn't move, and turned into smoke.
"So...this counts as a win?" Rei stabbed the large weapon onto the ground---only for it to disappear a moment later, making him lose his balance.
"-gah! Oh, the companions has routed the rest of the knights...all is well then?"

The companions moved before he can finish that sentence, triggering all kinds of traps aiming for...HIM!?

Staggering from the wounds he got in the last room (at most it was scratch wounds, since he summoned Sorrow's Tear , Rei entered the room---
Only to see a companion carelessly jumped on the tiles! "WAAAAIIIT!!!" He pulled the shadow- CLICK. "Uh-oh." A spear sprung from beneath! He's going to have one more hole on his crot-
A shadow pulled him aside, and got pierced in process. It dispersed into black particles a moment later. "Nooo! You shouldn't-" Click.
A strong smell of gasoline suddenly wafted to his nostrils- "Crap-"
Once again, one of the companions pulled him aside, taking the flaming pillar of flame---
Now the companions has reduced into four shadows.
"Can we really beat the Guardian like this???" Groaned him. At least he remembered which tile triggered the healing sprinklers, but...
