Standard SPOILER ALERT warning for those of you who did not catch it today....However, I am avoiding as many spoilers as I can so this isn't a full-throttle summary. Just my thoughts on a few points.
This has probably got to be the first time I've felt the urge to comment on an episode no matter how many I've seen. And normally any episode that ever involved time, especially with Renet, would make me flip off the tube....but that's just my personal preference.
I honestly had never truly pinned Donatello as a dinosaurs buff. This actually surprised me. He's normally so tied into his technostuff that the fact he had a hobby like this on the side was enough to make me watch the episode. My fondness for this particular turtle has grown in the past....four or five months....and I always had felt he got the short end of the stick when it came to stories that centered around him most of the time.
I thought a lot of the dinosaurs were really well drawn. And check out a certain wild scene involving Raph and Mikey....I admit I sort of skimmed parts of this episode until I came to this.
The crisis with Donatello and that bandage on his leg is slowly building up. It doesn't take a genius to figure out what he's going to go through, but it sure is affecting him more slowly than I noticed it did a regular human a few weeks ago.
In the meantime....well I always figured it'd be nice for our purple turtle to be seen with a girl once in a while and he sure got his share of it this time. Seems to me he spent a great deal of time literally hefting Renet over his shoulder......
Oh, I guess you could say, pet dinosaur alert, sort of. Raph gets surprised in an unusual way and I positively died laughing.
Oh, yes, Savanti....well.....I've had little to ever say on this guy so....I just wasn't all that surprised to see what'd become of him.
Your own thoughts, anyone?

I loved this episode. Of course, I've been a dino buff since I was able to speak, although I'm not as much as I used to be (they are still exciting, though).
My thoughts (keep in mind the sole episode of TMNT I missed was the first one with Renet and Savanti Romero, even though I have the comic it was based upon):
-I always knew Donny was a dino freak, at least according to comics.
-One's got to wonder if Chote will be in part 2 (he was the samurai dinosaur that Romero employed during this part in the comics).
-At first, I wondered how a tyrannosaurs' skeleton could possibly reform itself as Romero's dome, seeing as how the bones would not make that shape in any form. But, I told myself (and to quote The Simpsons), a wizard did it (because he did!)
-Mikey naming the triceratops after Zog was sweet.
-I wondered why the action figure of Romero looked so freaking different than the cartoon version... until I saw next week's ep. Yikes. Romero sure has a thing for bones! lol

I don't read the comics; too hard to get my hands on them around here anyways. I am familiar with some of the stories now and then secondhand; but stuff like Donny's obsession with dinosaurs (yes, I read extensively on them too believe it or not!) was still quite a surprise to me.

i was sort of surprised mikey wasn't much into the dinosaur exhibit. i thought it would be something he'd enjoy. and i'm also sort of surprised splinter didn't want to hear april's news. i take it he knows the turtles will be able to handle the situation...no matter what it is. 3nodding

I thought that too, about Mikey being completely disinterested in dinosaurs. He sometimes reminds me partly of Calvin from the comic Calvin and Hobbes, (the other part being a definte Raph streak....) but while Calvin loved both comic books and was a huge Dionsaurs fanatic, Mikey definetly is only into his comics.
I was not, however, surprised by him sneaking a bag of chips into Raph's stuff and having it tossed in his face for his efforts!.....ok that was funny.
Was was extremely funny though was (highlight to view, spoiler): That Triceratops that decided to follow them around first coming up and surprising Raph greatly by sniffing at his, uh, behind, and Mikey commenting on how few people like Raph's smell to begin with.

That part was indeed funny. Mikey's comment made me rofl.
I was pleasantly surprised by the ep, really. Wasn't expecting much as i twas, you know, about going back to dinosaur times. But it was enjoyable, especially everyone just kind of being annoyed by Renet. lol A little moment I particularly liked was when Leo just slapped his forehead in frustration from Renet's idiocy. That little thing had me rofling.
A lot of good funny moments. Nothing amazingly memorable, but enjoyable.
Edit: OH yeah. Raph took out a deinonycous(I spelled it wrong I know) with just a kick? Yeah. Right.

I liked the episode despite me thinking it was going to be stupid. I still haven't watched the last dvd I got so this is the first time I got to actually see Renet... and oh dear LORD. Wow she's obnoxious. eek The outfit is pretty frightening too but that's just me being a girl I think. *L* I do act like one on occasion you know. Donny being a dino buff didn't surprise me. While he definitely specializes in being a techno geek, he's really just an all around geek in general. I realized that when he was trying to figure out the crystals a while back. I had no idea that mutating into big freakish critters began with a cold though. *L*

Well another bug thingy gets at Donny, it takes him forever to mutuate, and all the while alien DNA and bug thingy DNA are doing no more yet than giving the poor purple turtle a cold?
Must be the turtle DNA having partial resistance, maybe?
Naaah. More likely the series writers wanting to build 'suspense' when we all know what's gonna happen to our poor Donny.....

I think Splinter was more in a mood of "Okay, don't tell me, they're in some wacky bind." In other words, he'd rather not know due to them always involved with some kind of weirdness.

So, it makes sense it takes a while for this new mutation to happen, as well as for it to take another form. And, Lady, if you like the outfit in the toon you'd LOVE it in the comics. smile

From how she put it Renet was so big I'd think she should logically suffer from rounded shoulders and severe back pain. *is familiar with that* I disliked Renet from the first for her overzealous teenybopper attitude....poorly done at that. Donny ended up carrying her around a lot, slung over his shoulder, this episode, and if her bazookas were as big in the episode as they were in the comic, no doubt poor Donny would've suffocated.....or at the very least, suffered a concussion.
