He did not mind the traveling, mostly because it would give him a chance to be alone with his thoughts - and, since he had only just regained a small sense of his own self, this was a particularly good thing.

He simultaneously wanted to be alone and not wanted to be alone.

He spent a great deal of time debating which mount to take. The goat was tempting, as it was smaller, and the alpaca seemed quite friendly. The horse was sturdy, but rather large. And the camel, out of all of them, seemed the most practical somehow.

In the end, he chose the camel, mostly because it seemed just as stubborn as he was.

He tried to get on the camel, but it was a stubborn thing, and nearly bucked him off.

The second time it really did jerk too suddenly, and Gale, having only a very loose grasp on the straps of the seat, was unfortunately dragged forward and dropped ungracefully on the ground.

And so began the journey of one Gale Gentry.

He decided to dub his camel "Littlefoot," not because of its enormous toes, but because it's long neck reminded him of that dinosaur from his childhood, The Land Before Time.
