He had tried getting out of it.

He had tried reasoning that there was no need for such a creature, no need for him to sully himself by riding on the back of something that clearly was in need of a good bath and some grooming. And yet, for the most part, it hadn't worked particularly well.

The only positive side to this was the fact that he did not have to walk on foot, which he supposed could have been seen as a good thing (the only good thing) about this whole ordeal.

It was the horse he chose; it somehow seemed a bit more stable to him than the rest, somehow more practical -

- and really the only on that didn't chew its own cud or spit at you.

The first few steps felt very slow indeed, Mengyao's horse plodding along at a relatively ill-timed pace. He dug his heels into its side, trying to make it move faster, but the creature seemed entirely content with its snail-like pace.

Still, there was something very serene and calming about it...

His horse, which Mengyao had decided to call Peizhi, trotted along at a fairly steady pace, though she seemed to be slowing down a bit on certain parts.

She was going faster now, which was a relief, because when she slowed down, the world seemed to slow with her.

He slowed to a trot and then to a walk and then to a full stop, Mengyao glancing around at the path with slightly narrowed eyes. It seemed that he had gone, not further than he hoped, but in fact, a lesser distance than he had originally believed.

Well, that was certainly vexing.
