Silence filled the air around the still waters of the lakeshore Avior stood on. In his hands he held a few stones, and every so often, he would toss one towards the water, smiling as it skipped along, disturbing the surface with ripples in all directions. Atleast simple things like this never changed, Right? He was never one to dwell too much on the past, but with the way the world was unraveling around him, he couldn't help but allow nostalgia take over him. Even if his old home back in Maryland wasn't the safest, nothing that could have happened there could compare to what was going on in this nutshell of a city.

No one seemed to listen to him either. His pleads with his family to simply move away, maybe up north to Canada, where nothing bad ever seemed to happen, was ignored. In fact, they simply told him that he needed to see a therapist of all things, to help 'control' his anxieties and fear of the world around him.

What longing he had to return to the days of bliss and ignorance. His hands released the stones that remained, allowing them to hit the water with several small plop plop sounds. He supposed it was time to head back to his home. With the darkness often came danger. There was no desire to fight left in him for now.

And yet, it seemed that fate would, once again, not allow him to leave his sanctuary, not without a confrontation at least. Who it was he felt around him, he could not pinpoint, but it was rather hard to hide a body such as the man nearby's anywhere, even if the area was surrounded by trees. Maybe if he were to speak, to plead with him, he wouldn't attack. From here, the man seemed small, but then again, maybe it would be a smart idea to actually put on his glasses, instead of leaving them inside of the pocket on his apron.

"Whoever you are, friend or foe, I have no desire to fight! Leave me be in my solitude!" His words came out shaking, each breath he took seemed to rattle his entire body. Run. Avior's mind continued to command him to move, though his feet remained planted on the ground below. Certainly, he was tired. He wanted to give up. He wanted to simply let someone do him in, and be done with it all. Though, as much as he wanted to do such things, something inside of him would not let him move.

Titanlåvenite had been going through the motions of hunting alternately energy in its general, or hunting the final pie-in-the-sky prize of trying to bring home live prey as captive prize to his betters. Tonight had been the latter, and when he'd found a scout signature near, he'd wasted no time in tracking closer and closer, puzzling that it did not flee or approach itself.

When the scout shouted out across the lake, the lieutenant's brow knit close and hard. What was that even supposed to MEAN when you were in a war? There was no such thing as desire for it or not. Not for any of them. He kept jogging around the loose approximation of path until there was a count of yards that didn't require yelling across it to converse- but stayed far enough away that it wasn't immediately an aggressive, combative distance. "Solitude is yours on a battlefield whether you want it or not, even in a sea o ffoes or allies. But if it is that you don't want to fight, you shouldn't call your power to hand. That is how you have no friends or foes in a war. You scouts transform from people into what you are. Stay a person."

"Otherwise, fight. "

As the man drew closer, his size became more apparent. The man, oh god, the man was huge. In a physical fight, he could not win, that much was evident. But if he had not attacked yet, maybe he would not. Not that he had ever met someone like him who had not wanted to immediately take his life away..

His words held truth, perhaps a truth he had not quite realized before. And Avior found himself nodding abit, mulling it over in his mind.

"Perhaps I am bait then. Set here so that, though my desire to be alone goes unfullfilled, those who cannot save themselves might have a chance. What makes this a war, I never truly understood. More than anything, in this uniform, in this clothing, I feel more human than ever." Surprisingly enough to himself, the desire to run was slipping away, and in it's place came exhaustion. For a kid to look so weary, so downtrodden, seemed to be a sin in his own eyes.

"If what you say is the case, do you wish to fight? I have no reason to fight with you, as you have not hurt me. The one I seek is a cruel man who killed people for no reason except to show he was strong. The last encounter I had with him, with Bischofite, was here. And maybe, as bait, I can lure him out again, and save those who cannot fight from his blade. Atleast for a while longer." He bite his own tongue. What if the man before him knew of the one who he seeked? Would he spread the word? Did he just lower himself into his own grave?

"I've honestly have met only a few from your organization, so I can't judge anyone based on the biased understanding from the "White moon" or from the fights I've been forced into. As I am still just a youth myself, why should I fight based on something I don't understand? That, most likely, Is why I wish to be left alone. So I can Make a decision with my own eyes."

He was not impressed. Titan's mouth curled down like a horseshoe overtop of his goatee. "We all have a purpose. If bait is yours, then I don't envy you. And your time will be very, very short. Not beyond this night. "

Though the precise use of bait was a little concerning. Was the scout admitting openly that this was a trap? He supposed the senshi could lay traps as well as anyone else. They didn't seem to have enough infrastructure to want to take prisoners though. He didn't feel anyone else near. He wondered how that would work. Laying traps was certainly not his area of expertise. Being trapped probably wasn't either, since his size would probably make it hard. But it made him clench one of his fists at his hip, and he looked around at their surroundings just in case while listening to the other talk. "Were I you, I would hope to strive and see if I weren't something better. Something with greater use. "

At the name Bischofite, though, Titan snarled behind bared teeth, then spit like the action was a curse itself. "Some lords may have use for mad dogs. Plague doesn't know friend or foe."

"I serve the honor of my lord. That one serves his madness and himself. But he's put down than given the time to spread his disease."

"Don't judge anything, your own nobles or ours by madmen. It is good to want to learn, but why hold onto that when you call yourself bait? Bait is expendable. It is used once and then it is eaten. It doesn't need to know it's purpose, it just needs to lure and be done."

"If you want to learn, do not be bait. Be something meaningful to your people. Or join ours, where we know our laws and our goals. Who and what we defend. "

"You spit at the name. You know of him. And you do not fancy him at all, by the look of it. He is a terrible man, for he doesn't care who gets hurt. But If he does not come, then what reason do I have to be here. I will leave soon enough. I can that you are the first to seek some sort of reason out of me. A reason to be better than what I see myself as, and I do appreciate it." The boy allowed himself to smile. A genuine smile that he hadn't managed to pull out of himself for quite some time. Maybe there was truth to what he had told the one Corrupted senshi not too long ago. Maybe these people were heroes, in a way.

"Tell me, do you understand anything about the whole.. White Moon faction? Because I certainly don't. I cannot understand at all why my home, my world which is over 600 light years away from earth, would be concerned about the happenings on a rock so far away. I doubt my world would have even known about it, to be honest. And I want to learn more. I want to have some sort of structure to know if I am right or not, if that makes sense."

"What do you defend? And what are your laws and goals? What is it exactly do you seek. Despite how I talk of things, I do not wish to be weak or cowardly for long. Not at all, I want to be strong. Would you think your organization had a place for me? Would it be possible to exist without hurting civilians to further your purpose?"

"I do not like him." The real name for that officer didn't matter to Titan, nor did the use of any name for him. His conduct to Bazzite- the self interest and disregard for simple recognition of tragedy. Bischofite had no honor.

"I don't know if I understand much, but I spent long trying to learn. I was just a man, a civilian haunted by this war. "

"Tell me.....what is any man or woman to do against your magic? If your kind chose to use it against regular people? Nothing. Normal people have no defense against 'magic'. Not without great losses. "

"It is a peasant that holds a plow against a knight with sword."

"The energy taken from the people of this planet is a sacrifice. It is wrongly taken from them, but it is to keep them safe. It is the only way ever found to allow their nobles, their defenders....to be more than peasants. It powers our resistance and allows us to stand with real strength against you. Not with pitchforks."

"The world we stand in now...the world of this war...the regular people do not remember it in their history. But this was a kingdom. Earth was a kingdom, like the home you speak of. And Earth did not want to join the Moon. That kingdom is us. We fight for Earth, for the independence of that kingdom."

"I do not think that you are wrong, or evil. It is kingdoms on each other's land. You are a foreign noble, you recognize it yourself- your heart is there in that far place in space. That is where you belong if you swear to support the Moon. I understand....I have heard from one of your own people, a high ranked lady among you that all your homes are ruined. Defending your nobility there is meaningless, then. If you would find a new home, one not alone and ruined, this one you were born to now...join us and support the kingdom of Earth. "

"When this land is secure, its nobility secure, then there is no need to sacrifice. No need for warriors. No need for anyone to hurt."

"Is.. Is that true..? What is the energy even used for..? I know it's constantly taken, but to sacrifice an innocent to save the world, as you say it. It seems dirty. Wrong." He bit his lip for a moment, thinking about what he should do..

"I want to belong on my home, though I have never seen it with my own eyes. I have yet to figure out how to get there, or how to even understand what happened there either. If it is destroyed, then this is the only other home I've known. I want to belong here too. I mean, I was born here, right? I have pictures of when I was just a child. I am just like any other Earthling. So I should try to protect it too. Maybe it's not my place to protect it from Senshi or Negaversers or anyone else, just from madmen like those I've talked of before."

"And why can't we tell the civilians about it too? After all, this is their home as well. They should take up arms and protect themselves too. It seems only fair, right?"

Titan shook his head, "You call dirty what you will. Leaders make hard choices, and they are wiser than me for certain. You for certain, who doesn't even know who he is himself."

"There are many stories of ends justifying means. Many that say they do not. They are both right. It is what right you choose. I believe in my lord. He has fought longer than I have, has more experience."

"You cannot be both there and here. That is a child's dream, to have the cookie and eat it both. And you are not 'just like' any of us. You are a sailor scout. You are a noble. Magic is born in you"

"Whether you chose that or not doesn't matter- is a matter of cowardice to complain of it. You are what you are. What you choose to do with your power is what will define your worth."

On the matter of civilians, Titan shrugged, "Try to tell them, then. Where is the proof to hold up against the history books they teach you in school? Magic. You know, I hated that word. You ask science to recognize magic. How is it I cannot tell who you are? Or you me? It is magic. But we are not wearing masks. Tell science and the public to accept that. Or to accept that there was a kingdom on the moon that NASA just hasn't seen."

"You tell me how that goes."

"Who is your lord? Who could have done something so.. So significant that you trust them to always do the right thing? Certainly they must be someone to be honored. I almost feel jealous that you have someone such at that. Jealous also of the certainty you have in your duties, in your lord, and in your organization. It seems wonderful to just have that sort of confidence."

He listen further to the man, uncertain how to respond next. A noble, huh? A noble who was unable to protect his family, his planet. It was in waste, right? There was nothing left there, as the man had told him. And a coward. There was so many ways to prove that right, from his fleeing from the rooftop murders, to his pleading for his life at the hands of another unnamed, crazed general.. But what was he to say?

"Ah.. You are right.. It was an idiot's thoughts to even perceive that the public would understand.. And yet, it seems that the Negaverse had already confessed to being heroes to the public, right? Are you heroes? Is there even a place there for someone like me? I want that assurance you have, I want to know what I'm doing is right. I just want to actually be DOING something." He laughed a bit, though it came out as a scoff, knowing that he sounded like he was complaining once again.

"It's always I 'want' with me. I need to actually do."

"I am sworn to General Obsidian. He is not a kind lord. He is deliberate, but not gentle. He is a warrior. Obsidian valued me, made me strive, and promised to make a weapon of me worth wielding. Having watched this war a year in already, and having been part of it as a bystander, that he was willing to speak to me, to help me to no longer be a victim- and to have the power to prevent needless waste further...has meant a great deal."

"They only looked like strong hands before. Now mine can truly move mountains and build bridges."

"You could be the same- a lord that could command. You could also find what I have in one of our high lords or ladies to learn from and serve. You would have purpose and find where your strength is. You would have a home and we would be your family. You and I could be brothers. "

"I will defend my brothers even to death. " Even from themselves. Sometimes his lord's smiles were not cruel, not calculated, not even human. There was growing space between the general's soul and his darkness, and he wasn't going to pretend what made a man a man always won out in that sort of struggle. But that was for another day and another time, and not for senshi at all. It would be between Obsidian and his vassal, or vassals should Titan be so lucky to have companions someday.

"There is a place for you, if you want it. If you want it enough to take it with your own hands. It is the right of all to want, but it is privileged to have. You have to earn the privileged, to prove that you are suited and fitted to it. I did. But if you do,...just like with me, you will be rewarded. And you are already a noble. I was just a man. "

"Will you think about it? It's no good just making a decision in a night. But think about it. We can meet again, you can help me gather energy, see that I and others do not slaughter our own Kingdom. You can feel what it is to stand beside another as a brother. We can be to each other as shield and spear. Then you can decide."

"I do not think I would be one to command. It just seems outside of my nature. Walls were made to defend, not to attack afterall. But if I can find a purpose, someone to follow, someone who I can find reason to dedicate myself to, then I feel that I would be much like you, serving them with my life. And be content in doing so."

Lords and nobels, the man spoke of. A power that was given, not born with.. A place to belong to, a guiding hand in this dark and obscure world they lived in. And a brother. Someone to rely on and trust.. The more the man spoke, the more tempting his world seemed. It truly was not as if he had some sort of loyalty to the white moon court. Heck, he didn't even know who their leader was supposed to be! There was a cat that gave him strength, but nothing more. The offer the man gave, the proposal to go with him, there was no harm in it, right?

"If Energy could be taken without harming others.. I would like to see it. I do wish to come with you, if you would be allowed to do so. Could you show me the world, the kingdom you are trying to protect through your own eyes?"

"Well, my own path and service I can show you. The very gates and the throne I cannot show you. They are ..." He had to search for proper vocabulary for a long moment. "It is sacred. The place of tragedy and it has many memories and the ghosts of memories are very present. Ghosts are stuck...they only know the moment of their end. They died in the first days of war, and they were fighting the Moon Kingdom. "

"You are their enemy. "
"I must respect them. The do not have much peace except their solitude. I cannot show you the throne or the seat of the Earth Kingdom unless you have joined us and let one of the General Kings mark you as ally. "

"No tricks- meet me here in a week. I will bring no others with me. I will trust you will not lay a trap for me. I will take you on my duty, and we can work together, as I said. Brothers for a night. "

"I understand. I would not want to cause any offense to your home, and the memories that are there. I am certain that you'd do the same if you were to see my own. Maybe one day, When I learn how to make it there, I could give you a glance at my own destroyed kingdom." Even if there was no one left, it could still be beautiful in it's solitude.. Though he didn't know what it looked like, he imagined a vast, lush land, with water everywhere, and the star it remained so close to would look even more beautiful than the stars in the night sky here on Earth.

"A week it is then.. The next time we meet.. Would you be able to bring more information about being marked as an ally? If it truly is an option, then knowing more would be ideal."

Ivynian

"I would like to see your home, someday. That there have been other people, and other worlds, is very sad. But I like the idea of how much there must have been once. Like how many countries there are on earth, many a much as the stars in the sky. I like the sky. "

"Loss makes us appreciate and defend what we have."

"I will talk to my commanders, and ask them for specifics. I must admit, I do not carry information well, but I will write things down right after I meet with them. "

Titan considered their surroundings, the slow changing of clouds and light that accompanied time moving as they had talked. As he had not tried to attack this scout. He had more than one instance to talk to the superiors about. Important situations that might help Information, or might be very sensitive. I don't want to betray my people out of my own stupidity. It is no good that these situations have arisen around me. Still, if I am approachable, it cannot be wholly bad to see that made productive. It would be better for them to join us, rather than have to kill them. They do not have homes. They should join our kingdom, bending knee and swearing to cleave to this Queen.

"I should be going, at least. My business is not done for today. What is your name, scout-that-I-will-meet?"

"I'm Titanlåvenite. 'Titan' is easier, though." Shortening it to start was more companionable- a step towards expressing true sentiment and intention as a day of brothers to come.

"The sky is vast and free. Even before I became how I am, I loved the sky, and to know that there is something else out there, something that may be mine, is very exciting. And to be able to share it with someone would be even thrilling."

"Your efforts will be greatly appreciated, thank you. And my name is Avior. It's one of the stars part of the old constellation, Argo Navis, a huge ship. I hope because of this, I'd really like to think that there is water everywhere, and it is beautiful. Even if it's not, it's my home, and it will be beautiful regardless." He smiled again, looking out to the water nearby, imagining sailing away on a ship on his planet. It must have been glorious.

"I look forward to seeing you again, Titan. Thank you for listening, and thank you for your offer." He stepped forward, giving the man's hand a squeeze and him a smile, before nodding and stepping back again. "I.. I wish you good luck on your evening, and peace for the rest of you night."

He turned from the man, heading towards the woods once more. Once far enough away, he'd power down and head home. Perhaps it would be best to not go about for the rest of the week powered. If he would happen upon another one of the Negaversers who had it out for blood, perhaps he'd find himself backing out of there meeting.
