This again, huh? The baku--no, the shui gui (she reminded herself that was actually a ghost and not a demon--cringed as her comrade fell, staring at the poor figure guiltily before taking cover. Well, she already knew what came next--that giant knight was going to go after her. Either that, or she could sneak around, but...
Dashing out of her hiding place, Xiu swung her weapon around and brought it straight into the knight's side. With the help of her shadow companions, it seemed like she would possibly manage to make it out of this battle in one piece.

Cringing at as she took a hit, she countered by swinging her weapon back around and straight at the knight. She wasn't going down here, that was for sure.

And again. This weapon, Xiu noted, was rather hard for someone of her frame to wield...but it was pretty damn strong.
...Now she just needed to make sure she didn't miss.

And then Xiu overkilled it, swinging her weapon in a wide arc and bringing it crashing--hard--into the knight.
Panting, she moved on to the trapped hallway, pausing only to take a drink of water.

Despite having been here before, it was impossible to avoid all the traps. The baku bit down on her bottom lip as she dodged arrows and spears, ducking just in time to avoid getting her head cut off as a blade swung down from the ceiling.
In the end, she made it through. Not 100% okay, but still semi-decent considering.

Oh Jack, this part. She absolutely hated this part, but there was no way around it. Casting a worried glance at her companions, she let out a deep breath and made a run for it.
And came out...alive. Not unscathed, but not dead or mortally wounded, at least. Her companions were all safe as well, which came as a huge relief to her.

The tile you step on gives way under your feet... and nothing happens. As you step on this tile, something wet sprinkles on you from above. Whatever it was, you feel better. Recover 15 HP. A tower of flame shoots up from the tile, badly burning you. Take 10 damage. CLANG! Something hard and heavy falls from the ceiling. You forget something. You activate a trap. Take 5 damage. You activate a trap. Take 3 damage. A companion reaches out and pulls you to safety! Nothing happens. As you step onto the tile, you are filled with a feeling of... elation...? Recover all HP. A companion reaches out and pulls you to safety, taking your place! Except... they're gone. Lose a companion. CRUNCH. You can still hear your companion's screams of pain as they suffer heavy damage. Take 50% HP loss (ie if you are 30/40, take 15 damage).

Fighting the Guardian, Xiu realized, might not be the best idea. It didn't seem too bad at first, but uh...
It seemed like a pretty huge mistake when she lunged out at it and was promptly thrown back.

...Until one of her companions dove into the Guardian's path. As he disappeared, the ghoul felt herself being filled with a renewed vigor.
Or maybe it was rage, because she totally had all six of them for a second there one of the figures had fallen to the Guardian.
