He remembered his true name.
Erebus, not Breuse. Erebus, with dark furry ears that twitched excitedly and a furry tail he tested out by wagging it side to side. He was Erebus once again and he had promised something. To fight. To save.
There is something around his neck, but he had worn collars before and so it didn't bother him. Instead, he was relieved to feel himself whole again. Whole and un-grey.
Hic choice was easy enough.
He placed a hand upon the pillars.
A clap on his shoulder jolted him awake, and he looked blearily around, only to realize that they all rode on a strange shadowy creatures... and so was he.

Marzena.
She had her color back, but she felt herself grow warmer as she remembered her name-- not Mnezara, the greyish girl that had belonged to Ruin-- Marzena, the selkie. Marzena with a seal pelt wrapped tightly around her waist; her fingers drifted down to stroke it with a soft sigh.
She remembered something. But all that mattered now was to move on from here, and she found herself turning away from the throne. She did not need that power.
Marzena touched the pillars and everything went dark, until a touch shook her awake. She glared in the shadow's direction, which only guffawed as he rode away. "Come on, it's not that far now."
With a start, she realized that one of them was not like the others. A boy with ears and a tail, and color like she had. Taking the reins, she urged her creature forward. "What's going on?" She hissed.

Someone addressed him, and he turned, to see a girl not like the shadowed figures riding beside him. "Uh..." Erebus started, but was interrupted by their other companions.
"See? It's already in sight.
"We're here for something." He said suddenly, and then wondered where that came from. "I'm not sure what, but it's important and--"
"Take cover!" Someone yelled, and there was a whiz of an arrow near him, which lodged itself in the throat of a shadowed person beside him. There was no time to panic; Erebus found himself acting on reflexes and dismounting, pulling at the reins of the creature where the girl sat. "Let's go!"

"You don't need to tell me twice." Marzena said grimly, and followed her companion's lead. They ran, together with the six shadowed companions they had left. They soon found cover, and the eight of them were safe. For now.
Marzena felt herself breathing deeply, regaining her composure, as she chanced a peek around the corner. "He's dead." She said grimly as the figure that had fell began to fade, and the shadowed figures bowed their heads in sadness.
"We need a plan." She muttered. "Gods, we don't even know how many of them are out there."

"I don't think we can take them like this." Erebus whispered, and one of their shadowy companions looked at him, puffing out its chest. "And why not?"
"They might have back-up." He explained. "The logical conclusion is to sneak past them. Follow my lead." With that, Erebus chanced a peek to make sure none of the soldiers were looking this way, and darted out, weaving deftly through the surroundings.

As Erebus left, the rest of the shadowed figures looked at Marzena expectantly. "What?" She hissed, shoving one of them forward. "Just follow him. I'll take the rear."
They nodded, and one by one, they followed Erebus' lead, until it was her turn to silently sneak past all the shadowed Knights.
Finally making it to the end, the party motioned her into the building, and she shuddered out a relieved gasp.

A fountain greeted them, and Marzena watched as their shadowed companions rushed forward to quench their thirst. "Not thirsty?" The boy with the dog ears asked, with a quirk of an eyebrow.
"No." She said, crossing her arms. "I'm fine."
"Oh yeah, I forgot to introduce myself. Name's Erebus." He held out his hand, and Marzena eyed it questioningly for a few moments before--
"And I'm Duke!" One of their shadowed companions interrupted with a laugh, grasping the boy's hand and shaking it firmly. "Edward!" "Cadence!" "Richard!" "Vaike!" "Sirius!" Erebus soon found himself surrounded by a flurry of introductions, as Marzena slowly backed away, lifting her hands in the air in protest.
"Marzena." She bit out, as they all stared at her after the last name was yelled out. "Don't. Touch. Me."
"Oh come on, we're all in this together!" The one named Duke guffawed, slapping her on the back and she cringed, shooting him a dark look.
"L-let's just move forward, shall we?" Erebus said desperately, because Marzena looked like she really wanted to kill Duke for ignoring what she had said earlier.
"Indeed! Forward, men!" Duke clapped an arm around Erebus and marched forward, Marzena bringing up the rear from a distance. They didn't make it far before Erebus halted the party as they reached a narrow alleyway.
"This doesn't look right."
"Nonsense, Erebus!" Duke boomed, and was about to take a step forward when Marzena picked up a pebble and tossed it in.
"I suggest you actually listen to advice." She said with a roll of her eyes as traps sprung to life as soon as the rock touched the floor. Yet, the shadowed figure still beamed, puffing out his chest. "Nothing too daunting for the mighty Duke, fair maiden!"
"Then show us." Marzena said curtly.
"Wait, I don't think--" Erebus started, but Duke had already saluted them and took a step forward. They all watched, cringing as a sword whizzed too near, or an arrow lodged in his knee, as Duke made his way through and disabled the traps. The party followed close behind as soon as it was deemed safe, Marzena still looking grumpy.
"I think I'm don--AUGH!"
"The mighty Duke, you said." Marzena muttered, watching as the shadow collapsed to the ground as the very last of the arrow traps sprung to life.
"He was brave." Erebus said quietly, giving her a stern look.
"More like stupidly foolish." She groaned.

It was obviously another trap, Erebus thought warily, drawing out a hand to stop the party in their steps. As if on cue, a rock clattered onto a tile and a blast of fire immediately obliterated it. He didn't need to turn to know that Marzena had thrown that.
"Okay." Erebus said, trying to formulate a plan. "We need to be careful this time..."
"The mighty Vaike can handle temperatures of any degree!"
"Wow." Marzena said dryly. "So you're tougher than a rock, huh?" A finger pointed towards the empty tiles, where only a little pile of ash remained from the poor rock.
"Of course!"
"N-no, pleas--" Erebus stammered, not willing to lose another person but Vaike had already stepped forward.
When the yelps of pain stopped, Marzena raised her eyes from her nails. "You guys should really stop calling yourself mighty."
"Let's just...move..." The boy sighed.

"Oh, you've got to be kidding me." Marzena groaned, drawing out her weapon as the large enemy loomed in the distance.
"Hey, you!" She called out to Erebus, lifting her weapon in his direction before drawing closer to deal a blow to the creature amidst raucous cheers.

"W-wha?" A strange sense of power surged through him, and it felt as though his weapon had grown heavier. Stronger. "What did--"
"Just fight." She yelled back, and he swung his weapon at the armored figure.

This was no time to be making small talk in a battle. Marzena glowered at where Sirius and Erebus stood.
"Look out!" A voice yelled and Marzena turned, leaping out of the way as a javelin grazed her leg.
"Thanks... Cadence, was it?" Despite not liking conversation, she knew when to thank people when necessary. Cadence beamed and nodded and Marzena offered her a small smile.

"She smiled!" Sirius said with a laugh. "If only the rest of us were that blessed, eh Erebus?"
"We need to focus." Erebus said desperately.
