There is usually only the memory of him going to bed and closing his eyes, then strictly followed by him becoming conscious with his eyes seeing the back of his eyelids, and snapping them open as the day greets him by flashing in sunlight through the holes in his curtains. However, it was a little different this time.
There was most definitely darkness in his world, but he could feel himself walking along a corridor. It was just big before for him to fit in, but long in the length he had already travel. He could feel himself simply walking straight in the darkness, with no room to turn left or right at all. So deeper and deeper he went, and slowly, light started revealing the path.
At the end of the tunnel there was a bright white room. On the walls were the odd flashes of red, both because of flicker decor and blood. In the middle, there was an odd figure, sitting cross legged and facing him. A bowl of noodle seems to be there in their grasp, as well a large mountain of food in the back. Clyde wasn’t sure how to take on this weird situation or this dream at all. So he let instinct take over.
He walked towards the stranger.
The guy never looked up, but as Clyde was merely a meter away, the figure stopped his eating. The food in the background disappeared and so did the décor of the room. Everything disappeared excluding Clyde and the stranger. He could feel his eye twitch at the strange scenario, and a strange look at the individual’s outfit. Who is in his dream? He questioned, but at a closer glance…is it him, or does the guy look like him?
“Took you long enough,” The fragment greeted, slowly getting up from where he sat. A small smile on his face as they thought about how awkward this situation might be, “Yea, we look almost exactly the same don’t we.”
Clyde reeled back, but the fragment only looked at him in amusement. “Don’t worry, I didn’t bring my bow. Friendly fire isn’t going to happen anytime soon.” A joke, but it barely got the varcolac to lower his battle stance – slighty.
“Don’t worry, I’m not here to fight. I just want you to listen to something – a favor.”
“Why should I…”
“I’m not finished.” The fragment cleared his throat, “I had just gone through a lot of things. The destruction of the kingdom I had thought was my home, the disappearance of the world I had thought exist, realizing I don’t really exist…”
The last part caught Clyde’s attention and, this time, he was the one to sit down. This seems to put the fragment at ease. “I am a being created from a fragment, more specifically, a fragment from you. That’s why I look and sound-like you. There’s some subtle differences in how we act and physically appear,” He trailed off pointing at hie outfit, “But I’m very much you.”
“So you’re telling me to take responsibility of something I didn’t even know had happened.” Clyde questioned, getting a little irritated at the possible suggestion. However, the fragment shook their head. “No, I just…it’s more of a selfish reason. I just don’t want to disappear.”
Clyde raised a brow, resting his chin on his hand. The fragment continued with a sigh, “I want the memories that I had experience to live on because that’s all I have left. If I share my memories with you, you’ll hold onto them and then my existence would have been confirmed. Everything, the kingdom, the people I had met, the world I believed that had existed, and the hardship…They would not be in vain. So please.”
“This isn’t going to be like a huge headache thing right? Or some flashy light bomb thing?” The question took the fragment by surprised but he only laughed. Clyde let out a lopsided grin and then stood up, “So…when do we start?”
“Come on, down this corridor. All the memories are down there.”
“Right…By the way, welcome back.”
“If you ever see anyone from the Red Kingdom, maybe you could say hi for me.”

When Clyde woke up that morning, he had never felt better. The dream had shown him strange memories that weren’t real, but as he had promised the other him he would remember them in his place. A strange promise since it was himself and because it happened in a dream, but hey, the fragment had sounded pretty real. And taking note of the joking request, maybe he should talk to some of these guys one day or greet them with a simple hi.
Maybe they, too, were given memories that were and were not of their own.
