Acanthite sat at a table on the sidewalk, having decided on a different method for patrolling tonight. It was a bit early for her to be out, just after sunset. But from her vantage point, she had a good view of a small park, and a piece of strawberry shortcake to go with it.
It still weirded her out sometimes, knowing that the people walking by and seeing her out here in the open would never recognize her as Mayumi. And as long as she kept her translucent black scarf handy to hide the fractured hole over her breastbone, she would not be anything more than a goth lolita girl dressed up for the night.
She turned her gaze away from the park to focus for a bit on eating her cake instead. So far as she could tell, no senshi were nearby for the moment, so the grey-eyed girl could enjoy her strawberries and whipped cream in peace for now.

Hood pulled up enough to shadow his face, Zippeite was hunting for something. He wasn't sure what, but he was certain if he ran into a senshi, their head would meet an untimely end with the weighted tip of his staff.
Well, except he did run into a senshi. And he hesitated immediately. Standing there in the park, he sacrificed his quick, stealthy movements to just stare at her for a moment, even pushing his hood down to get a better look.
The aura coming off of her was definitely senshi, but corrupted. Not like Virtus and the other mirror senshi, but negaverse. He'd seen them from a distance in large groups and meetings, but never up close. He knew they existed, he just didn't know what to think, really.
"Who are you?" He asked with a slightly raised voice, keeping a bit of distance between them.

The aura of a negaverse captain was more familiar to Acanthite; her experience in meetings had taught her that she was a minority. One of the senshi who had been fortunate enough to be awakened on the correct side. A new ally was a welcome sight tonight - she needed to meet more of her comrades in arms.
A car crossed between them on the road that separated the cafe seating and the park. He seemed to want to keep his distance from her, so the auburn-haired girl beckoned for him to come join her. As far as uniforms went, his seemed a little out of the ordinary, but maybe sitting with a girl in a crinoline at a cafe would make them both seem more normal. It was not like they were dressed in the pretty white seifuku of the terrorist senshi, or anything.
"I feel rude yelling across the street," she called back. "Want to join me, and we can chat?"

Senshi were ******** weird, Zippeite had decided a long time ago. Well, he had been told, but it was a fact he adopted fairly easily. It was the whole basis of his corruption. They're not like us, they're alien. They're different.
There had been a total neglect about the ones who had come to their side, though.
When she invited him over, he looked around and behind him. On his side of the street was dark trees and sparsely populated hunting ground and on hers was... pleasant society and pastries. He looked almost skittish at the prospect of crossing the street to join her foreign world.
She was an ally, he had to remind himself. He could feel it in her aura. Alien, yes, but right.
Still, when he crossed the street and ran a hand through his newly exposed, spiky hair, he couldn't hide a tinge of contempt in his expression.
"You're one of ours."
Of course right now she was doing an excellent job of not looking like any kind of non-human at all.

The girl's pleasant smile faded as she thought she caught a look of dislike on his face. For all her new-found confidence as a senshi, something of Mayumi's fear of rejection still crept through in her powered state.
"I am one of yours," she replied quietly, blinking. By his aura, the stranger was her superior. "Um, that's not a problem, is it?"
She gestured to the chair of iron scrollwork across the table from her. "We are allies," she stressed. "So I hope we can get along." Acanthite looked down to her plate, thinking to offer him something to eat as incentive to join her and chat, but it contained only one half-eaten pastry. "Um, would you like me to get you something to eat?"

There was a bit of a weird silence while Zippeite stared at her and weighed his options. He did not like senshi. At first, any hope that Nega senshi were not equally horrifying had been diminished by his throwdown with Nickeline but the one in front of him seemed decidedly less psycho.
That meant nothing, because he was sure there were some psychos who were great at pretending they were not psychos. Still, this was several points ahead his other interactions with various different kinds of senshi. So he eventually managed out a, "No, it's not a problem."
He looked at the chair. His movements were slow and clearly took a lot of thought, like he was cautiously thinking over his options. Eventually, he did pull out the chair and sit down.
"Okay."
Conversationalist extraordinaire here, Zippy.
He cleared his throat and glanced to the side, trying to calculate something about this conversation, or lack there of thanks to his gloriously lacking charisma, and realized it might be nice to at least do introductions.
"I'm Captain Zippeite."

Acanthite watched the officer as he joined her, his movements awkward. A faint smile graced her lips as she wondered if he was like this with all girls, or if it was because she was a senshi. If anything, she felt bolder when she was powered up than when she was little Mayumi; it occurred to the girl that it might be just the opposite for this poor captain, but she did not venture to ask.
Awkward was not a reason not to be nice to him, though. "I'm Acanthite," she replied, her smile becoming more obvious as she bowed ever so slightly where she sat. "Nice to meet you. Do you patrol here a lot?" The senshi kept her voice low and stole one glance towards the door in to the shop. Fortunately it was late enough that they appeared to be the only ones there, aside from the proprietor himself. But it seemed prudent not to draw too much more attention to themselves than they already were.

"Nice to meet you too," He parroted after an awkward pause and a lot of effort. This was so weird and creepy and strange, oh god. Behind his stiff expressions, his brain was exploding wit thoughts racing a mile a minute about what she could possibly be up to and he should probably be more aggressive-- no, he should be nicer. Wait, no, something else.
Social affairs of any kind were apparently not Zippeite's strong suit.
"No," He answered finally. "I stick to other areas. Places that serve... however you say that," He pointed to an ad in the window showcasing a French pastry, "And cappuccino are a little too ritzy for me. I guess."
He glanced at her half eaten snack and looked at her with half lidded, almost unamused eyes. "Is this how you patrol? Enjoying dessert on the patio while your sparkly White Moon relatives tear up the city?"

What had been mild amusement at the Captain's manner faded promptly at his insinuation that she was slacking off. Acanthite's brows drew down and her mouth hung open for a moment before she replied, "I haven't felt anyone nearby so far tonight, except you."
Upon registering fully what Zippeite had said, she added with slight fussy indignance, "And I thought you were my relatives."
She relaxed then slightly, and reached up with one hand to fiddle with her hair a little. "Besides, a lot of the White Moon girls want to talk to me rather than fight, I think." Fortunate experience thus far, anyway. "I've just done my best to get them all on our side."
Maybe the Senshi of the Cataract had been consciously avoiding combat a little too much, though. Her cheeks flushed slightly. "I guess if you want help tearing up the city looking for the White Moon tonight, though, I can join you?"

"You're a senshi," Zippeite reminded her coldly with no remorse for his earlier statement. "One who's seen the light and come to our side, but still a senshi." He glanced down and picked up a napkin to busy himself with tearing the corners.
"I've always wondered how much of a senshi's nature leaves when they come over to the proper side and decide to fight for earth instead of simply being invaders. I suppose it's just curiosity, but I still wonder."
His mouth stayed pressed in a straight line as he denied eye contact and thought about what she had said. It relatively matched his experiences. White moon and even most dark mirror senshi were easily beaten down as they pleaded for reason.
After that awkward moment of silence, he did bring himself to offer. "If you... want?" He was a little baffled as to why she'd want to join him after his poorly hidden contempt but morbid curiosity kept him from being entirely opposed to the idea.

His contempt frustrated her, certainly, but Acanthite took it as a challenge. She was a senshi who had seen the light, and she wanted to personally make sure that she changed his tune about that. She wanted Zippeite to respect her, and she was determined now to make him respect her.
"What kind of 'nature' are you talking about?" the girl asked, fiddling with a lock of hair that had come free of one of her intense side-buns. "I haven't felt any compulsion to tear down any buildings, if that's what you mean." The fork went into her mouth and she sucked the last of the frosting from her treat out from between the tines. Then Acanthite set it on her plate and stood up, not taking her eyes off the captain.
"Tell you what, how about I gather up the energy of everyone inside?" Her heart fluttered at making the boast, but the Senshi of the Cataract was gradually more confident in her energy draining abilities.

Zippeite shrugged in a causal, flippant and inattentive way, as if her question wasn't important enough to grip his interest. Wherever senshi went, there was trouble. He figured this was a typical hazard of being space aliens in a foreign environment.
But her boast made him snap to attention, and his gold eyes, well, what was visible of them behind his shaggy mop of hair in desperate need of a trim, stared at her, and then slowly turned to the building as he tried to count who all was inside.
He looked back to the senshi and very intently scanned her up and down, and then just kind of stared with his mouth pressed into a small, straight little line of neutrality. Or stunned silence.
"...Okay, do it."

His ready agreement took Acanthite a bit by surprise, and she hesitated a second before nodding. She chewed her lip briefly, then forced a sweet smile.
Well, she had wanted a chance and he was giving her one. Just like that. Best to make good on it.
"Okay," the dark senshi affirmed with a nod. "Watch the door for me please?" she requested, then strode into the cafe.Carneli (( Sorry that took so long. orz Shall we call this one a wrap here? ))
