From the rooftop, the streets seemed like streams of gold, and the sky seemed dark like the green-eyed cat who crawled across her notebook or crows or her first notebook. Did she really cry in public over struggling to feel auras? Really? How embarrassing. Letting go of stress and tiredness seemed so difficult, but at least she knew she could.
She felt somewhat more sensitive to her surroundings since the breakdown--as if she could spot each flickering light bulb in the view below--but did that indicate a true change in her ability?
The streets buzzed with red and green and white and yellow, and she closed her eyes, blocking out the flashes and moon and stars, looking within herself for that pearl of light. It seemed...clearer? Like a distant candle. She imagined the light reaching out to the city and felt something on the edge of consciousness, but just before she reached it, she tensed and thought, It's all in my head.
Sometimes it came so easily, but apparently not tonight.
She sighed and opened her eyes. The streets seemed dimmer, and the sky seemed darker as she brushed back a strand of hair.Orangeish Sherbert Yay first post! Let me know if this is okay! =D

Mariposite hadn’t really gone out since his meeting and chat with Camelot, but tonight he was quite sure that he would go mad if he stayed inside any longer, so out he went.
It wasn’t long before he felt the aura of a senshi and he headed towards it, for once deciding to see just what it was before going into flirtation mode. See? He had listened to the knight’s advice after all. And maybe it would get him someone who would flirt back.
Oh he would like that a lot. He moved quickly, approaching the senshi from behind, and oh. Oh it was a pretty girl.
At least from the back it looked like a pretty girl. He crept closer, being as silent as possible until he was close enough to reach out a hand, gently touching her shoulder. “Evening ma’am. Lovely night, isn’t it?”
There. If that wasn’t civil and not creeper like, he wasn’t sure what was.

Medea's eyes widened. Almost stumbling over the edge and plummeting into the shining streets, she leapt at his touch, but then twisted around to collapse onto him. Her heart thumped. She clung to his uniform. Her pupils dilated as she coughed. She hoped her death-grip on his clothing didn't cut off his circulation, but she felt waaay to scared to release.
"Hi...there..." She couldn't breathe. She almost died. He almost killed her. Okay, that seemed dramatic, but still! That would have been a loooong drop, and she really wanted her head intact. "Is that...how...you greet everyone?"
She closed her eyes and took a huge breath.
"Who...are you?" Could she feel his aura? No. She felt too panicked to concentrate. She slumped forward with exhaustion and disappointment and stared at the concrete. "My name's Medea. Sorry I'm like this. I'm was just a little...off-guard."
She loosened her grip a bit.

Mariposite couldn’t repress the grin that grew the moment when the senshi grabbed onto his jacket. Well well well. She just couldn’t keep her hands off of him, and boy was he quick to respond to her as well. His arms snaked around her and held her close, not wanting her to fall to her death either. That just wasn’t what he was all about.
“Hi yourself. And no, normally I burst onto the scene singing some sort of sexy song in the hopes of ensnaring a beautiful girl into my loving embrace, but since the last time I did that it was an old man that I snared, I thought I should change up my routine.”
He continued to hold her, then took a step back, away from the roof edge. “Medea, hm? That’s a pretty name for a pretty girl. I’m Mariposite. Captain Mariposite. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Medea.”
The captain moved his hand to her chin, tilting her head up just slightly, giving an oh so charming smile. “A pleasure indeed.”

"Oh...Um..." She blushed. Maybe it was the adrenaline? No. He...He just had a magical power that made people blush? Nooo. She couldn't lie to herself about this. He caught her off guard. He flattered her. She felt soft and vulnerable. Like a daisy. Like a rose. She smiled for his smile, his kindness, the way he wrapped his arms around her. "Thank you! It's a pleasure to meet you too, Mariposite."
As he tilted her head to meet his smile, she glanced into his eyes. They were like amethysts. The echoed the color of her hair, like her ribbons echoed the colors of his uniform. How...strange. A good sign, but a strange one.
"You're not too bad yourself," she laughed, pulling his hand from her, but not releasing. "And an old man you say?" She smirked. "That sounds like an interesting tale."
"So tell me." The wind brushed the edges of her collar. "What are you doing up here? Just out for a stroll?"

This is what he wanted. To sweep the ladies off of their feet and just make them…well. Be adorable and sexy ladies. Mariposite took a piece of Medea’s hair and twirled it between his fingers after a moment, grinning still. “Ah. The talk of the old man, that’s a story for later, and yes. I was just out for a stroll. And you? What were you doing on the edge of the roof? Don’t you know that you can get hurt like that? Why, I almost sent you tumbling off to your doom. You should be more careful.”
There. Now did that sound like he was full of disgusting corroding chaos that was turning his soul to a black void of nothingness? Not at all. He was concerned for her well being. Because she was a lovely thing, and because he wasn’t a total jerk.
How could Camelot really think that he was going to change so much with chaos. Maybe Camelot should just chill out and take a hit of chaos and be done with the whole thing.
There was nothing wrong with him. Seriously.

Oh. He twirled her hair. He was hospitable. That was good. Hospitable people wouldn't throw her off a roof. They hugged her and told her nice things about her eyes and smile and hair and made her heart sing. She would never hurt the kind ones--only bring them deeper into her circle of trust. Yes. She liked him--this purple-suited man, who could be an agent or civilian. Why not consider him a civilian? It wasn't like she could feel a signature from him.
"I was just thinking about Senshi life." She chuckled. "We're not terrorists, you know. We rescue people, it's not like what you see on the news at all..." She sighed and brought her head against his chest. "A few Senshi saved me from this monster and made me one of their own. Without them, I probably wouldn't be here, talking to you."
She met his gaze.
"So we're really not evil, despite what others--especially the Negaverse--say. Some of them even join us, I think, but I'm not sure. A dear friend of mine told me, so I guess it's just a rumor for now."

Mariposite nodded, listening and continuing to play with her hair. It was such pretty hair. He had to say, he adored the color. Purple was his favorite, after all. “I see. I’m sorry that you had to join the group that has been labeled terrorists…that’s a shame…especially for someone as beautiful as you to have that stigma along with your name…”
He met her gaze as well, giving a smile. Well. Oh. There came the topic of joining up with the white moon and what have you. His smile wavered for a moment, but then he shook his head. “A rumor, all rumors hold truth though, Medea. Remember that. Maybe the agents of the Negaverse can turn to the side of good. I confess, I’ve heard the same rumor. Spoken from the mouth of a wise old man named Mr. Camel. He’s a good person to talk to about things like that, I think. But…Maybe you and me should do something other than talk, hm? What do you say, beautiful Medea?”
He leaned a bit closer, lips gently brushing against her cheek. Oh he liked this senshi. She was fun.

"I...um..." Medea blushed sooo hard and laughed. His touch felt soft, kind, understanding, wanting. She brushed back a strand of hair and pressed his face to hers. Staring into his eyes deep with intrigue and affection, she smiled. She looked to her extremely well-informed civilian like her flowers faced the sun--their petals outstretched, reaching, soaking it in. "Thank you. Are you always this charming?"
Don't get attached. She was attached. She wanted him to like her--to impress him. What could she do or say to make him like her? Maybe she would screw it up and he'd never want to see her again. Oh that would suck. Could she target his heart? Things moved so quickly--she wasn't expecting this at all.
She leaned against his chest and wrapped her arms around his neck. She sighed with a smile.
"You're so nice..."
She could have stood there for hours. She sighed. How relaxing.
And then.
Her eyes shot open. Coldness, fear washed over her. She pulled away.
"You're with the Negaverse?" Softly, sadly, she frowned. "Why are you doing this?"

He was relaxed against her, holding her, planting even more little kisses against her forehead and the top of her head. This was very nice indeed. Moving a little fast, but hey. What could you do. The thought of Aurora flashed through his mind briefly, but he pushed it aside. What she didn’t know wouldn’t and couldn’t hurt her. Besides. He was entitled to some fun.
”I do try to be this charming and nice, yes. It’s sad that most girls don’t appreciate it. You though. You’re different.”
And she was. She was sweet, very sweet. At least…until she pulled away. He frowned slightly. “Wait. Are you just now realizing this? I did introduce myself properly didn’t I? I’m Captain Mariposite. I know I said it before. But…does it matter? And why am I doing what? Being nice? Kind? What does me being with the Negaverse have anything to do with my actions, Medea. It didn’t’ bother you a moment ago.”
He took a little step back, face showing more hurt from her pulling away than he would have liked to have shown. “What changed?”

Poor Medea. A malfunctioning sixth sense. Blinded by her idealistic delusions. She chose not to believe him because she couldn't feel it, but now that she could...
Okay, it's not like this is the first officer you've flirted with. She smiled a bit. She couldn't tell him "Oh, well, I so desperately wanted to believe you were a civilian that I completely ignored your indication otherwise, and my crippling inability to detect members of your faction certainly affirmed that". That would make her seem lame and stupid and pitiful.
But what other choice did she have?
"I guess I didn't want to believe you," she laughed. "It's not like I can feel agents all the time. It comes and goes, I guess? I fooled myself into thinking you were a civilian."
She felt guilty. She drew near him again and pressed her hand to his face. "But this is okay, okay? I know you're interested in Purification, and that's enough." For now.
She kissed him in a sweet, gentle, I'm-sorry way, and pulled back.
"This could be good."

Mariposite raised a brow, frown deepening as she spoke. Well. Sure. By the end of it all, he took another step backwards. “No. So, I’m only worth talking to if I’m interested in purification? What kind of ultimatum is that?”
It wasn’t a fair one, that was for sure.
Taking another step away, the captain just shook his head. Girls. Senshi girls. The good girls.
They sure knew how to hurt, didn’t they. Why, between kicks to his crotch and this. This new trick, he was just about done with the whole lot of them. He joined up for all of this to get with them and do flirty things, but nobody seemed to give two shits about that, no matter how he looked at it. So. Fine. Fine.
“Forget it, Senshi. I’m not going to be your purification plaything. If you wanted someone to drag around like that, well. You picked the wrong captain. Have a good night and don’t fall. It would be such a shame to see your pretty little face smooshed against the concrete, now wouldn’t it.” He summoned his whip to his side, just for the effect it caused, then turned on his heel, closing his eyes and teleporting away. Sure, it was a lot of energy, and sure, he was a weak and trembling mess by the time he got home…but damn. It sure was a great way to make a dramatic exit.

"No?" Tempted to ask him what changed, Medea frowned. "But you..." Her heart sank with his disappearance. The whip unnerved her a bit, emphasizing the shift in his opinion. She blew it. Again. And she felt attached. Crap. When would she learn not to chase the baddies? It wasn't like he suggested she corrupt either. He seemed fairly open and communicative.
Unfortunately, this disappointment was her fault.
He could have stuck around to listen though or at least appease her.
She sighed.
No, another agent would have stabbed her to death or eaten her starseed or ripped out her hair. Not him. He reached out. He kissed her cheek. He gave more than she could have asked.
And she blew it.
If they met again, she would apologize. This was stupid of her. She should have listened/nodded/smiled/agreed.
With one last glance over the shoulder at the brilliant, glistening city, she started home.
