Taiki wondered around the edge of the lake, snuffling at the sweet grasses and watching as the lake water lapped on the shore. He was probably one of the few here that had actually been over the entire length of the valley, and outside of it as well. But he never got tired of walking around it. It was his duty provided by the goddess to watch those of the valley, and he rather enjoyed it. Though, his adventures had brought Tibini into the valley but that was alright too. She was an interesting girl. He took a moment to reach down and take a mouthful of grass, enjoying the intense tastes of the grasses found near the lake.

Atalanta was running through the valley as she was trying to explore. She loved to run and was very fast. She also loved to explore new places and find interesting things. As she ran a lake caught her attention. Walking up to it she drank very thirsty and looked up to see a strange horned horse there eating the grass. She continued to drink then stood up straight smiling at him. Her tail flicked as she watched him.

Taiki's ears flicked backwards as he heard another inhabitant approaching. He raised his head as he saw her take a drink from the lake, and then smiled back with a nod. "Hello," he called out in a friendly tone.
Atalanta relaxed as he smiled back and bowed her head then looked back up. "Hi there. My name is Atalanta. What's yours?" She made her tone just as friendly as his and walked over to where he was standing.
Taiki nodded again. "My name is Taiki. I haven't seen you around here before." His nose flared curiously as he took in the scent of the new mare that he had met. He always seemed to meet new inhabitants, no matter where he had been. His long tail fluttered behind him as well, while a few strands of his mane blew across his forehead, and were stopped by his horn.
Atalanta watched him nod and smiled. "Yes I don't really stay many places long enough for people to know me. I love to run and explore new places. But this place seems nice to me. It's nice to meet you Taiki." She watched him as he took in her scent. She walked closer flaring her nose to take in his scent as feel. She was curious about this guy he was interesting. She watched the tail flutter and a few strands of his mane caught on his horn. His horn was very impressive.
Taiki nodded enthusiastically. "You as well. I am the same. I have been up the cliffs of Emeratarak to the Uusk valley. It's surprising how many I have met, though sadly I don't know anyone really well." His ears flicked back briefly. It left him alone a lot of the time, but just seeing those roaming about, and watching the foals scamper through the valley made it all worth it. He would keep them safe from the threats that rarely came to the valley. Though he felt sad for Atalanta that she really didn't know anyone either. She was a pretty buckskin Taure mare, though it appeared she had had a few run-ins on her own. "May I ask, and I do not want to seem rude, but how did you get those scars?" He was told once that his inquisitive nature was going to be the death of him, but he just couldn't help it.

Atalanta watched him nod enthusiastically and smiled. She smiled and listened to him talk about what his life was like and how they were the same. "Those places all sound amazing. I haven't been quite that far yet but I would like to. I don't know anyone really well either. But I am sorry you don't know many people well." She watched as his ears flicked back. She let her head fall down to graze and smiled as she tried the grass. It was very good and full of flavor. She would need to remember this place for the future. She watched as he looked at her scars and she smiled. "It's not rude. Don't worry I have the problem of being very curious too. When I was younger I was attacked and managed to escape but not without these scars. Many don't like them that's part of the reason I always travel and don't stay anywhere long enough to know people." She smiled at him to let him know his question where ok with her. She didn't mind that he had asked. It was better than what many did.
Taiki couldn't help but feel a little bit sad about one of those here that had been injured. Once of the times he and the other Kirin had failed in their duty. Who knew when it had actually, and he knew better then to ask her age. Mares seemed to be a little dodgy about that. "It shouldn't affect how they see you. It just means something happened, and not everyone will always be perfect, nor look the same. The fact that you survived should be a mark of dignity to others. Me, I can't stay because I have so many places to be, and there are so few of us to watch out for all of you." Which was true. The gods granted so few Kirin life that they had lots of things to do. But it also meant he got to travel a lot.
Atalanta saw some sadness in Taiki's eyes as she spoke of being injured. It wasn't that big a deal to her. But it must mean something to him. Maybe because he was a Kirin she tilted her head and smiled at him. She smiled more as he spoke and shrugged. It shouldn't but it did. Many stallions preferred the unmarred mars. But she didn't like those stallions anyway so she thought in that sense her scars were a blessing. Kept those males from perusing her. She had grown to see her scars as a type of beauty and strength. They made her different. And different was a good thing in her opinion. "Thank you Taiki that is very kind of you to say and I agree. I see them as a mark of pride that I survived something and they set me apart. It's interesting not many have scars so it seems to give me a uniqueness. Or at least let me be a bit different. And I can understand why you would need to travel so much. I wish there were more Kirin so the few wouldn't have such a burden to bare." She smiled and relaxed more.
He smiled back at her, and shook his mane, shaking himself out of the mood that he was falling into. "It is as the gods wish, and we do what we can. May the goddess bless us with more little ones, and one or two be fresh guardians. Though, watching regular foals has always been fun as well." He pawed playfully at the grass, sending a butterfly scampering to another flower. "Do you want to play, or are you busy?" He couldn't help it. New friends were always nice to meet, and no matter how old he got, he was always going to be a kid at heart.
Atalanta smiled wider when he smiled and seemed to shake himself out of the mood. She was glad to see his smile. She liked making people laugh and smile. She nodded. "Yes it is all up to the gods and I do hope they smile favorably on your kind. It would be nice to see more of you all. I do hope the goddess blesses all with more little ones they are so much fun and just too cute." Se watched him paw at the grass and grinned as she watched a butterfly fly off to another flower. She giggled at that. She nodded. "yes I would love to play. Though I did not think one so noble and important as you would want to play. But yes I really would love to play I'm not busy at all." She was glad to meet someone new and he seemed like fun. Maybe she had made a new friend.

Taiki snorted in mirth. "Noble? I had a Arasti follow me into the Valley. And as for play, one is never to old for play. The day you are, is the day you are visiting the gods personally instead of praying to them from a distance. And as for smiling favorably, I hope they do as well, as well all with all kinds who wish to bear children." He liked her smile as well, and it was not distorted by the scar on her eye. It just added more emphasis for him. And her giggle was infections. He found himself grinning wider. He couldn't actually remember the last time he had played with someone.
Atalanta grinned as she heard him snort now that was a very funny sound. She giggled again and nodded. "Glad you don't think anyone is ever too old for play. I love playing and it makes life so much more enjoyable. Also yes that would be nice for all of those who want children." She smiled more and pranced wanting to play very badly. She grinned more as his smile got wider. "Come on let's play. Show me what you got."
Taiki watched her prance in place, and figured he knew which game he wanted to play, but would see if she had the same feelings about it. He quickly reached forward and touched her with his muzzle, and shouted "tag!" as he then wheeled on his haunches and sped off across the valley, laughing. He didn't gallop too fast, as that would make it unfair, but enough that she could wouldn't catch him too easily either. The day was clear and bright, and the air was plesant and not to warm, and not too cold, as it was not blowing from the direction of the three goddesses today. Reski must be feeling generous today and helping her sister Zovan keep the plants alive to support those on the ground.
He always enjoyed these days of sunlight, to help him through the colder times when Uswin and Emeratarak had their yearly fight and Uswin brought the longer night and Emeratarak unfurled her cloak in a rage and smothered the green and warmth of the valley. But he was not going to think of that time now. For how, the goddesses and the gods were in harmony, and he had a new friend to play with.
Atalanta smiled at him and pranced more wanting to play. She waited for him to figure out a game for them to play. She watched Taiki reach out quickly and touch her with his muzzle. She grinned as he galloped off wanting to play tag. She ran after him but wasn't ready to catch him yet. She loved to run and this was a perfect day for it. The warm breeze running through her mane made her neigh in excitement. Loving the way it felt and the way the ground rushed away underneath her. She ran keeping Taiki in her line if sight as she chased loving the game he chose. She liked his new friend she had made. Him liking to play tag made him even better to play with.
