Char accepted the orbs Sam handed her from their last fight and tucked them neatly in her pouch. Vaguelly, she wondered where Sam kept all of his... He wasn't carrying a bag, or anything. While the Drakein plodded along on the ground, it was too easy for Char to get comfortable and accept the ride. She hardly even noticed that he mentioned the word 'fly.' "Sure." She agreed with a tiny smile. Of course, Sam sounded pretty tired too. And since he seemed to be a Gaili, his home was probably in the opposite direction of her ship... But he had offered! And by this point, Char's suspicions of him were practically nil. Maybe she'd over him a fishy meal if they managed to get back in one piece.

But one piece seemed a lot less likely once Sam was airborne. It was a challenge for Char to direct him, especially since she stayed tucked down against his neck and unable to see anything past his horns. She was too fearful to sit up and have a real peek at their surroundings. What if she was actually blown straight off his body? Would Samael even notice? She shivered, and then realized it was just as much from the cold as it was her fear. Ugh, Gaili Drakeins weren't even the fastest... Maybe a bonded wasn't for her, after all... She wouldn't be able to ride it like most would. With a scoff, she tilted her head back just enough to gaze at her little golden wings, pulled tight against her back. A lot of good these things would do her...

She sighed and put her head down again, holding the Drakein for all she was worth. Maybe if he had a saddle of some sort... Just then, the salty scent of the sea caught against the wind and Char's eyes popped open. As scared as she was, she also felt curiosity burn inside her; enough so that she slowly raised her head to look over Sam's horns and see the crystal blue expanse of the sea before her. "Woah." She whispered in awe. Of course she saw this blue mass everyday, but from so high up, with the sun sparkling against it, it looked entirely different. And there, anchored a bit away from the bank, was her ship. "There! Char pointed out to her mount in excitement.

Sam thought the flight went rather well, considering Char's attempts at choking him were all failed. Despite his best attempts, the ride involved a lot of unnecessary turns that could have been avoided, if the Orderite would just peek up and give him a proper heading. But because she didn't, Samael ended up following the coast for much of the voyage, instead of having a straight flight. Which was fine by him, except for the fact that the air was more humid around here than it was in his mountain home. The brown Drakein could tolerate humidity, but he really didn't want to get full-blown wet unless it was on his terms... That and after their teamed-up battle he was a bit tired. It would've been rude not to give this little girl an escort, though. Sam wouldn't have believed it if she'd said she could make it out of the desert on her own. And after the fight, he felt a sort of friendship toward her, not that Sam was very difficult to make friends with.

When Charlotte leaned up to point out her home, Sam couldn't help but grin. If there was anyone on that ship, they'd sure be in for a start! No one would expect this little blond runt to come flying in on a Drakein, that was for sure! A strong, earthy Drakein that could eat up a little thing like Char. Hopefully no one would think he was stupid enough to try and attack the ship and hit him before he got the chance to touch down, though... Oi, what a pain that would be... Would Char even stop them...? Ah, probably. The fall wouldn't do her any favors.

Suddenly feeling hesitant, Sam circled the vessel. It gave everyone on board plenty of time to note his presence, though there was no way of telling if they could spot Char or not... Char would be the only thing keeping him from getting speared here... Well, now or never. There was nothing else he could do. Sam glided down toward the deck, pleased when no one swung a sword at his belly during his descent. He landed heavily, his long claws scraping against the wooden deck. Fortunately, everyone was looking at him with more curiosity than anything else, and Sam felt his hope for this lot spike.

Charlotte could only grin at the looks Sam was getting from her crew mates as they glided down. Yeah, she could understand their confusion, but they weren't half as confused as a certain Dovaa when Char hopped from the Drakein's back and skittered across the deck right into the man's arms. If anyone was surprised, it was Kayden. The blond girl was pretty sure that it took him a few seconds to realize who was hugging him. "Heehee, I told you I was going on lots of adventures!" She beamed up at him cheekily. She proudly pulled her five new found orbs from her pack and showed them to him.

Kayden's surprise intensified tenfold, and he glanced from Char to Sam. He patted to her softly and smiled at her. "You must've had a bit of help to acquire so many." Charlotte was pretty sure it was an indirect thank-you to the Drakein behind her, but she felt a bit miffed none-the-less. Sam had helped, of course, but the blond Orderite found herself feeling rather displeased. Kayden thought Sam had done all the work for sure... She frowned up at him, her big fuchsia eyes full of disappointment.

She released him with a sigh. "I wanted to do something nice for Sam, since he helped me out so much. I was thinking of feeding him, so we're probably going to go relax and fish off the docks." Her voice was full of dejection. Of course, she'd really only come back to show off her progress to Kayden, but he seemed to think Char had done nothing to earn her new treasures! She slunk down below deck to retrieve the necessary supplies; poles, string, a few scraps of meat, and a canteen of water, just in case she got too hot while fishing out on the sunny pier. Then, hefting her things, she headed back out. "Sam, do you want to go fishing with me?" She questioned, puppy eyes on full blast. She hadn't even asked him if he wanted to, yet! He may be too tired! She'd certainly feel silly if the Drakein refused her now... Maybe she should've asked on the way...

Sam smiled waywardly at the girl as she scuttled off to wrap her arms around a Dovaa that was twice her size and had to be at least twice her age. He'd always thought Magescians frowned upon that kind of age difference... Though no one on this ship seemed to mind. Judging from the guy's lack of tact, however, he seemed kind of oblivious to Char's complete devotion to him. And even to the crushed attitude she held at the metaphorical slap he gave her. He inclined his head politely at the Dovaa's words. "Charlotte was very amazing. She isn't a Dovaa, but her magic is very strong. I certainly wouldn't underestimate her, if I were you." He tried to send the girl a reassuring smile, but she didn't seem to notice it too much...

"Hm?" He perked up at hearing her mention fishing in passing, before she headed below deck. The idea was news to him, but he certainly wouldn't complain! Fish was a treat he didn't get to indulge in too terribly often, if only because it was a bit out of his way to obtain... He didn't have rods and bait like these humans! And using his claws to try and nab them as they swam past was usually a rather disappointing endeavor... No, it was easier for him to simply hunt. At least he could chase land animals if they tried to escape.

The Drakein chatted idly with a few of the crew members while he waited for Char to resurface. He even noticed a little Keindred on board, but it stuck close-by to one of the Magescians, and Sam couldn't help but send it an apologetic look for it's state. But Char returned after only a few moments. "I'd love to!" He agreed brightly, lowering into a crouch to let Char climb aboard. Once she was settled, he set off, kicking up from the deck and heading back toward the bank. He wanted to comfort her in her distressed state, but he doubt she'd hear him over the wind... With a shake of his head, he glided down toward the little wooden pier. It was a chore for him to perch on... He felt like it might brake at any moment...

Charlotte smiled hopefully at Sam when he agreed. She might not be particularly fond of Drakein, but this guy was pretty upbeat and didn't seem too interested in harming much of anyone. He was kind of an anomaly to her, but she realized that she didn't mind too much. He was a great hunting partner! She clambered onto his back, pulling her armload of supplies with her as they set off. She was careful to keep everything tucked close, in case the ferocity of Samael's beating wings would pull them away. It was harder to cling to him with her arms full, though, and she found the ride extremely nerve wracking. Luckily, it wasn't half as long as the flight from the desert, and Sam was swooping down before too long.

Looking at his hulking frame on the slender wooden pier, Char couldn't help but giggle a little. His haunches hung off the planks in a comical way. "You might be more comfortable on the bank." She offered with a grin. After all, fishing was awaiting game. Who knew how long they'd be out here... On the plus side, she doubted Sam needed his food cooked, so he could eat it right off the hook, if he wanted to! Smiling again, Char set to the task of baiting her rod. She put the small can of bait right next to her at the edge of the pier, for easy access, then flung her hook out into the water.

Now was the waiting part... Char was never good at waiting... she always felt like she had somewhere better to be. The minutes dragged on. The only thing stopping the blond Orderite from flopping over was the brown Drakein behind her, waiting for his promised meal. She sighed. And just like that, her line tugged. Char's face lit up in excitement and she pulled vigorously. It yanked back. Hard, pulling the rod straight from the girl's grasp and into the water. Charlotte was instantly dumbfounded. She stood on the edge of the pier, gazing curiously into the water.

It bubbled ominously. Then, a spined head appeared from the depths with a roar. Char was instantly frozen and utterly filled with dread. A Peisio Dragon splashed from the water, snarling viciously at her.

Sam found that he wasn't too terribly keen on leaving Char on the pier alone. It wasn't as though the bank was any lengthy distance away, but he felt like she needed a companion after how her crew mate had treated her while she was trying to show off. Still, the dock was a bit small for him to sit comfortably on, and every time he tried to adjust himself to a more comfortable position, he swore it wobbled. And Sam hated to be unnecessarily wet. It made his membranous wings cling to his body like wet paper mache! Absolutely disgusting. So, it didn't take him long before he was fanning his wings and fluttering back toward the sand bank. Maybe a bit of sun bathing was in order.

The sand was warm, the sun was high... And a bit of relaxation sounded nice right now. The brown Drakein flopped down onto his side to enjoy the heat of the day. Occasionally, a comfortable mist from the water would wash over him to cool his scales. Despite his lazy posture, Sam was careful to keep one eye on Charlotte. When she stood to pull her catch in, Sam perked up in interest, wondering if he'd get to sample her prey. That hope was dashed when the rod was yanked from her hand. Not that Sam cared to much. Her stunned expression was enough to make up for it, and the Drakein found himself laughing at her predicament.

Until an angry, scaly head popped from the water with a roar. Sam's grin instantly fell, and he gasped in surprise. Char wasn't moving at all! The Drakein jumped to his feet and glanced around quickly. He spotted a collection of rocks behind him and instantly chose the biggest to hurl toward the Peisio. The boulder whizzed past Charlotte's head and collided with the beast, sending a spray of blood out the back of its head as it fell into the water. Samael hurriedly glided toward the blond girl. "Charlotte! Are you all right?" He questioned frantically, confused by her stillness. His wings beat steadily to keep him aloft. Beneath him, he could see the dead Dragons blood running through the water. But something disturbed it. Another four of the beasts emerged, growling and spitting at the loss of their comrade. Sam fluttered in front of his companion. "Hop on!" He ordered. "And don't look so afraid. We can take these guys too." He added with a smile.

Charlotte winced as a rock flew by her head, smashing the dragon's skull and sending it back to the depths where it belonged. That was... a Peisio... The same type of Dragon that had sunk her father's ship and killed his entire crew... Well, except for her, that is. She thought she'd be stronger when she came face-to-face with one again, but right now, she didn't feel strong at all. She just felt scared. "I'm alright..." Charlotte whispered as Sam appeared before her. The Drakein certainly had no qualms with taking these beasts out. As another four dragons emerged with a roar and a splash, Charlotte's heart sank. These creatures... how was she to know it wasn't one of these exact dragons that had sank her ship...? It very well could've been one of them.

Char lurched as one of the dragons swung its tail into the pier, splintering the wood right in the middle and causing the dock to cave into the center. Charlotte gasped and grabbed onto Sam's neck to steady herself. She looked into his pretty green eyes. She wanted to tell him that she couldn't take on dragons like these... Peisio were mean and vicious, and they didn't stand a chance, but Sam seemed so confident. And he obviously didn't share her fears. Instead, she kept her mouth shut and pulled herself onto his back with a nod, waiting for him to push off. Once they were airborne, the Peisios followed them. Sam's flight seemed to be pissing the dragons off. One of them shot a shorp looking jet of water toward the Drakein's wings, and Char knew if she didn't stop it, it'd take him down. She waved her arm, casting a shield spell to divert the attack. Once the watery bolt collided with her light magic, a spear of her own shot straight through the liquid, bursting free and piercing the dragon right through the chest. Down it went! Leaving just three more airborne dragons.

At seeing the beast fall, Char's eyes widened. She had taken one down! The beasts weren't immortal! She looked around at the three remaining. Maybe... she should try again, just to make sure. She gave Sam a gentle, coaxing tug to have him glide back into the fray. She waved her arm again, this time creating a tiny, palm-sized ball with cute little spikes on it. She probably could have cast it directly at the beast, but what fun would that have been? Instead, she hefted it in her palm for a minute and waited for Sam to get in range before hurling it at the beast. On contact, the spikes busted into thick, branch-like daggers, and the ball exploded, sending them out onto the beast. It released a dying roar and crashed into the water below.

"Sam! We can do it!" Char shouted out excitedly, grasping onto his neck ruff.

Sam's eyes flew open as the pier lurched, and he tucked closer to Char so that she could climb aboard. While he was usually polite and patient while he waited for his rider to adjust, there was no time for such things today, and he set off as soon as she swung her leg over. The Peisios tailed them relentlessly, although, Sam was sort of hoping they would. Once they got a little farther from the water, they'd only have their vicious teeth and claws and larger size to their advantage! Which, still didn't sound good to Sam, but it beat being held near the water! Samael didn't notice the watery jet amidst his thoughts, only felt Char move, and saw the shimmering light from her shield. He back peddled a little to get some space before shooting off for a little more distance.

He was weary of following Char's insistent tugging, but she seemed to know what she was doing... Especially after taking down the beast that attacked him. So, with a huff, he glided back toward the three remaining dragons. They seemed to eager for him to return so close to the water... Sam was hesitant, but Char';s magic proved to be enough to overcome another of the beasts, and Sam's muzzle split into a grin. Two more. Guess they were on him. "Don't let go, Char!" Sam told her with a smirk as he dove for one of the dragons. They tussled in the air, all teeth and claws and swinging tails, but Sam's smaller size helped him dodge many of the attacks. And as his tail clipped one of the Dragon's wing, he saw his opening. The beast faltered to regain its balance and Sam claws the thin membranes of those wings to shreds. As it fell, he dove for its neck, clawing and biting at that too, until it was no more.

One left.

The Dragon seemed to know it was outclassed, but it still snarled viciously. Sam flew down closer to the water, enticing the beast to follow. And it did. Eagerly. Sharp jets sprung up around him, but Sam kept moving, dodging the attacks. If he went down, Char would too, after all, and he couldn't allow that! As the Peisio followed him down, Sam widened his magic range, searching for a boulder beneath the surface that was large enough to take down this beast. When he found one, he led the Dragon within range, then, with a roar, pulled it from the depths and smashed it into the creature's stomach. It wasn't enough to kill it, but the Peisio was stunned, and Sam used the opportunity to rip into its throat.

Once it burst into orbs, Sam went about collecting all the trinkets from the top of the water. Probably best to get away from the murky liquid for now. Could be more. Sighing in contentment, he glided away from the ocean, back toward his home, Char still riding along. He'd never gotten his meal.
