After her latest activities with Kayden, Charlotte was not eager to talk about dragons. She wasn't eager to talk much of anything at all, really. Even Char wasn't sure if it was because of the gruesome acts she'd committed, or how heartless her usually gentle pink-haired crew mate had been. She saw her Dovaa companion in a whole knew light; a darker, more sinister light that she was starting to be weary of. For several days following, she kept to her little bunk among the rest of the crew, unless someone asked her to complete some specific chore that only a person of her lacking height could accomplish. She said nothing and carried out her assigned tasks briskly and accurately. For the most part, they let the girl be, though Kayden would occasionally poke his head in the room to check on her and leave her a small snack. But the ship sailed on, despite her brooding and sulking. The sea waits for no man.

Charlotte was hardly interested in food nowadays, if only because she was afraid to eat anything with her soiled, blood soaked fingers... All she could think about was how long those dragons had been in pain before she'd finally arrived to kill them. She hated the beasts, of course, but they still deserved the mercy of a quick death, at least. Surely a Dovaa like Kayden would realize that...?

It wasn't until they docked again that one of the crew finally decided there's been enough sulking. She was a short, plump woman that could swing a blade faster than any man ever could. Char had always been awed by her, but even more so when the woman plucked her from her bunk with a squeak and hauled her out onto deck. "Now, I've had enough of this!" The Oblivionite told Charlotte, her dark, empty eyes staring straight at her. That alone was enough to give the little blond shivers. "You get up and take yourself off this ship right now. And don't you come back until you're in a better mood! I can practically smell the sloth on you, girl."

Charlotte had probably never scrambled so quickly in her entire life. She bustled her little bum out onto the docks. She could instantly see that she was not in the same place she'd set out from. In fact, she wasn't sure that she'd ever been here before at all. It was just a bunch of... rocks. Why had they even stopped here?! She had half a mind to ask, but found that she didn't actually care that much... in light of recent activities.

So, with a sigh, Char shuffled away. She could probably find a nice cavern to hole up in until someone came to retrieve her. Or at least until night, when no one would stop her from getting back on the ship and hunkering down in the storeroom. She couldn't disturb the scary Oblivionite woman there, hopefully. Charlotte was carefully not to stray too far. As long as she could still smell the ocean, she figured she was within fleeing distance to her ship, should something go amiss. Despite her dreary attitude, she was kind of... enjoying stepping around the crags and loose rocks. She was kind of amused at the way the canyon sloped on either side of her, and she found herself smiling at the strangeness of it all.

Always, she'd been around the sea, so to be before such an expanse of grey and dreary stone was actually kind of nice. In a different sort of 'It's-fun-to-explore' type of way. She walked slowly amongst the crags, letting her fingers glide over the crumbling stones. It wasn't long before she came to a narrow passage through the rocks. Almost too small for someone of her scrawny size, let alone anything else. Well, Char didn't have anything better to do. The sun was still high in the sky. That Oblivionite woman was probably just waiting for her to try and sneak back on the ship... With a shrug and a sigh, Char decided to check it out. Maybe there would be a neat rock in it for her troubles.

Trying to make herself as thin as possible, Char squeezed through the little opening. She had to shuffle through the passage for a bit, but just as she was starting to think it would be too narrow for her ton continue further, it opened up. Char gasped and looked up. The cliffs went so high that the space was almost completely shadowed. And wet. With no sun to dry it, the rocks were damp and slick. Char continued through the passage, looking around curiously. She didn't know how long she walked for, but judging from the growing darkness, the sun was starting to set. Too bad there was nothing interesting to bring back... Oh, well. That cranky woman would be gone for sure by the time Charlotte returned.

As she turned to leave, Char stopped mid-step as a few loose pebbles fell from above. Normally, it would have escaped her attention, but the sound of the wind picking up helped drag her gaze to the sky. Unfortunately, it wasn't the wind. It was the sound of a family of Ayrala's glowering down at her, breathing heavily and wings fluttering in excitement. Char swallowed. Maybe walking through that passage was a bad idea... Sure dragons couldn't get through that narrow opening, but they didn't need to, since they could just fly over it. Two of the Ayrala were rather close to the ground, scrapping their claws in the rocks and just waiting for her to flee. The other two were a bit higher up and on the other side of the cliffs. They were also quite a bit bigger than the first two.

Charlotte took a slow, fearful step. Instantly, both Dragons on the lower ledge dived at her. Letting out a squeak of alarm, Char fled. There was nothing else she could do. She certainly lacked the skills to fight them head-on, and even if she had those skills, there were four dragons! That was just too much for her. Luckily, the two beasts couldn't both fan their wings enough to fly in the more confined space, and Charlie gained a brief head-start. But still, the two were after her, and it would be a while before she came back upon the passage the beasts couldn't fit through.

One of the dragons drew near enough to beat her with its wings, and Char hit the deck like a stone through water. She couldn't even collect her breath enough to scream and focused on just scrambling forward. Disoriented, she smacked into one of the cliffs. A dragon's wings fluttered nearby, and Char realized that it couldn't get this close to the walls. She clung to the stone like a life-force, rising to her feet quickly.

It was then that a gust of wind shoved her forward and sent her toppling to her face. The two older dragons had joined the fight, not about to allow their smaller family members to let the prey escape. But the bustle of four dragons in the space was just too much, and the smaller beasts were also buffeted. Using the reprieve to her advantage, Char started off again with renewed vigor. She really didn't want to make it far, just back to that little crevice...

She stuck to her wall desperately as the path slowly narrowed. The dragon's wings clipped her and their gusts stalled her and pushed her over, but still, she ran until she found the entrance. She wedged herself between the cliffs, the dragons' claws scraping at her as she was forced to slow. The kicked heavy winds down the tunnel, trying to force her out, but she locked herself into position and stayed there, too scared to move even after the two older dragons decided she wasn't easy enough prey and left. It was a while still before the two grew bored and tired enough to step away, but Charlie stayed fearfully where she was, unsure of what lay on the other side of her sanctuary. She stayed there alone, quiet, and scared, wondering how long she'd make it here on the damp continent...
