User ImageEmma couldn't beleave it, the one class that she was exsptionaly good at and was partnered up. Not only that she couldn't even pick who her partner was. If it had been a fellow Gryffindor they could have done some work in the Gryffindor tower. However she sort of understood the reason why. Eather Gryffindor House and Slytherin House don't really get along, or the other studen't wasn't vary good at potions. She hoped she was wrong about the latter

She looked at the blackborad where all the names of the students. She found her name on the listed followed the line that conecter her name to the name of her partner. McBride, Ashie? I don't think I know who that is," she said looking over at the throng of Slytherins Which one was her partner, the name somewhat sounded female but she could have been pronoucing it wrong in her head. She looke over at the others who had partnered up, some where from the same house and some where from both houses.

She went to a Slythren girl and asked if she knew who Ashie was, all she got back was, "I'm not telling you Mudblood." Emma cocked an eyebrow not knowing the exsprestion as it was new to her but she could tell by the tone that it was ment to be an insult, but didn't know that it was also insulting her parents as well. If she had she would have corected the girl. Though she knew if she told Clover

Emma didn't exscatly care about the fewed between the two houses simply replyed "Someone switch your sugar with salt this morining?" before walking away. Slightly disapointed she just hoped who ever Ashie was heard their name and didn't care about his or her partner being a cluzzy Gryiffindor.

She was very.....pink. And not in the adorably punk-way that Avery was....more like in the incredibly girly way. Ashe felt a twinge of concern as to whether or not they'd get along. At the insult from his fellow Slytherin he scrunched his nose, only recently had he learned what it meant when he unintentionally tattled on another kid for calling him that (Albeit, he wasn't sure if he was half and none so obviously the insult needed to be rethought).

"Hey Cassidy, I wonder how the teachers would feel if they heard you'd called two people that in the same week," he said musingly, eying the Slytherin with mild disdain. He saw her flinch and adopt a muddled look as she quieted down. The threat hit home clearly, it was a shame he had no interest in 'House Pride'. He turned to the....lady in pink, trying to keep his nose from wrinkling. "You're looking for...." he narrowed his eyes slightly, "Mcbride? I'm Ashe, we're partners for the assignment I take it?" He was careful to speak his name clearly. No one called him Ashie, not even his mother. Albeit, he wouldn't be too keen on anyone calling him 'Bunny', like she did, either.

Emma would have little to worry about, while Ashe knew little about the magical world he was still fairly clever and adept at following directions. Recipes tended to go hand-in-hand with cooking, after all, and that was something he did more often than not.

Emma turned to who had spoken "Oh I did pronounce it wrong, Sorry. Guess I'm even a clutz with names now too." she said trying to lighten the mood between them if even a little. "I'm Emma McQueen... Clutz Exstrodinar, exsept with cooking, and potions.... since that's like cooking." she smiled glad he didn't seem to angery about the mistake.

Emma then went to get her things and brot them over to wher Ashe's things were. Once everyone was partnered up, propperly, the black bord changed to show the assinement. Aparently the potion that they where doing had to be done in two parts, before comining together at the end which was why they were all partnered up. "Well that makes sence now, Though I might have been alright doing both parts on my own. But it's hard to be in two places at once, and everyone has only one culdren. So which side of the board do you want to do?" she asked though she knew she wanted the harder of the two parts she knew it was always better to ask and not just foce someone to do something they don't want to do. "If it's alright I want to do the harder set of derections." she added her cheeks tering pink as well.

She looked over at the girl that had insulted her, though she didn't know the turm Mudblood, she knew the tone well enough. "She having a bad day or something? It doesn't help an insult when the person doesn't know the term." she said rather light harted and not upset about it. "Then again it never really got under my skin when I did know it."

"Well now, don't sell all your best points at once," he laughed, offering a wry smile. He was trying to be joking, but he wasn't too sure how he felt about letting someone clumsy play around with potions. He'd seen some pretty nasty burns and boils. "I'm pretty good with cooking too, I do a lot at home." Albeit, his cooking was usually just for himself and his mother. His mom was always far too busy to handle the cooking herself, it was lucky he had picked it up with a fair ease. And that he'd only burned himself a few times.

He scrunched up his nose when she requested the harder set of directions, surveying the board thoughtfully. Well......she seemed confident......and it wasn't really his place to say she couldn't. He shrugged and crossed his fingers as he agreed, "Okay, I'll take the left then. The right has more steps to it. If you need a hand with anything just let me know. It looks like it might take a bit longer than my side."

Ashe set up his cauldron, peddle and mortar, and his egg timer (Most of the witches and wizards thought the muggle timer was quaint, but he liked it). "She's just a racist, ignore her. She's someone that thinks it's the blood that dictates someone's worth....apparently there's some witches and wizards that come from old families that think being inbred is somehow 'better'." He shrugged. "Just tell a teacher if she says it again, it's not something she should be saying."

Emma smiled "Yeah, me to, cook for the whole family.... well my dad and me." she said "And the rest of the farm sometimes." she added fondly but a little sadly at the same time.

She nodded once "It's decided then," she said glad he agreed to it. And she too started stetting her side up best for her method of working. She looked over at the egg timer and smiled "Now that's a good idea."

She thought of what he just said, "Racist, about blood type? Blood doesn't really say who you are. And inbreeding isn't a good thing, weird things can happen... Still it must be nice to know the answer of what you are. See I don't know my blood type, I was adopted." she smiled a little. She had already started working, and the ingredient she was crushing with the side of the blade was to be peeled, but the way the board said it would take to long, and she had found early on that this ingredient was close to garlic on prepping

He perked and looked curiously at her. "Is it just you and your dad at home?" he asked, wondering if perhaps she had something similar to him. He was woefully oblivious to just how insensitive such a question could be, but in his defense he was simply more curious than anything. His family situation had always been seen as rather.....weird by most people. "I just live with my mom so I usually just cook for me and her....sometimes my uncle when he comes over." Hell, half the time it was his uncle that had babysat him, he'd been very helpful in teaching Ashe some cooking tips and tricks. It was a little funny that his mother was the worst cook in the family....but at least his grandparents both cooked and his uncle, and none of them minded a hand in the kitchen.

When she further explained about her family his brows knit together. Ah, so it wasn't the same. Similar though....he could definitely understand the feeling of wanting to know who your family was. Ashe's own father had never made an appearance in his life.

"Yea, I know the feelin' with that one,"
he mumbled, a little abashed. "I know mom isn't, dunno about my father." Maybe that was why the mudblood comments bothered him.....it was just unfair that others seemed to think they knew anything about his family status, when he himself knew very little. He shook it off, shaking his head silently. "Anyway.......just talk to a teacher about it, people shouldn't be slinging around racist remarks, it's just not right."
