Tonight, on a very special Blossom. Esme hadn't seen her best friend in awhile. A month even. And though she had kept her sanity by sending emails and texts, it wasn't as utterly AWESOME as hanging out with THIS GUY: Alistair Holmes, her brother from a different mother.. and father. Alistair Holmes, her FIRST and TRUE crush. Alistair Holmes, subject of many slash fics that she dared not tell him about, tee hee. On her way to recovery, it was necessary to see this boy. And so she texted him awhile ago. "Ser Holmes, I demand your presence at the Sushi Train at 1 pm tomorrow!!! Important. Luv u. <3" "P.S. Swooping is bad." Tomorrow became today. Esme awaited her pseudo-date with her TOTALLY-JUST-A-FRIEND Alistair, leaning against the wall of the Sushi Train. All doo'd up wearing a skirt and a blouse and even a hat. But it totally was just a friend date. Le sigh.

Alistair always looked forward to spending time with Esme. It had been too long since they'd talked face to face, and so her invitation to lunch was eagerly accepted. Even if her tacked-on P.S. had been a bit odd. (He really needed to play that Dragon Age game.)
He showed up in a button-up shirt and nice slacks, hair carefully pulled into a ponytail and generally looking as good as he always tried to. He smiled brightly when he saw Esme, picking up his walk to get to her.
"My, my, you look lovely today as always, my dear," he said, bowing when he got close.

Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh totally just a friend Alistair made it! Esme squealed and jumped up to give Alistair a huge hug. "Ali! You came! Good, cuz I've been waiting HOURS. Well okay, I lied, just five minutes." She let go and slid back down to her feet. "So, let this date-not-date begin! I hope you like sushi. I hope you like sushi that goes around on a little conveyer belt. While we pick sushi let's PICK UP WHERE WE LEFT OFF WITH OUR LIVES I'll go first." Yeah, she was too excited to wait for the sushi. As she entered the restaurant, she began. "So let's begin with what's new with you?!" Back to him.

Alistair laughed. "Well, I am sorry to make you wit! How rude of me," he said. Esme's undimmable enthusiasm was reassuring and quite frankly refreshing. It was always nice to be around her. "I really, really like sushi, conveyor belt or not," he said, and he followed her in.
"Oh, well, I got accepted into DCU's theater program," he said. "My audition went absolutely fantastically; I'll be starting in the fall." He couldn't help but be amused. "And what about you?"

She let out a huuuuuge breath. "You diiiid? Awesome! So are you going to be famous? Can you think of me as your number one fan? Cuz I am, there's no real denying it, sorry." The young girl plopped herself in a booth. "AH, WELL. I've been going through a lot of... uh, interesting changes. Like, as you know, I got a boyfriend! My first one! But a few months ago, he said those three 'really interesting words' and that really caught me unprepared." She sighed and snatched some dragon rolls off of the belt. "I almost totes failed my junior year cuz of reasons. Ugh."

Alistair laughed. "Of course ai'll think of you as my number one fan, since you insist," he said. Perhaps encouraging her wasn't the best of things, but it was harmless.
"You weren't ready to hear them? I'm surprised," Ali had always seen Esme as one to be totally caught up in the romance of a thing. "Did you break up with him, then? And I still don't know why I haven't met him." Henlooked thoroughly amused. "Also - reasons? What reasons?"

"Uhhhhh..." Yeah, she wasn't really sure what to say about all that. LOL I'm a magical girl and my boyfriend is a badass Negaverse agent so BE CAREFUL cuz otherwise one of us will suck out your energy? Hmm, that had a nice ring to it, actually. Wait, no. No. Esme laughed nervously and shifted in our seat. "Naaawww... I didn't break up with him! GOSH I DUNNO. Uh, I guess I can intro you to him one of these days. And uh, reasons... reasons..." Just what kind of excuse could you give for almost failing class? "I guess... I haven't had my head on straight for the past few months? Maybe you should put it back on for me." YEAH, that sounded decent enough. And it was the truth! Take THAT, Mister Inquirer.

Alistair was frowning even as he took a rainbow roll plate off the conveyor, and then a ginger-dressed salad. "Are you happy with him, then?" He asked. To him, that was what was most important, not if he approved or any such thing. "We'll have to set something up." His expression shifted to a slight smile.
"Well, I'll do what I can, dear. I'd hate to see you fail out your senior year; you've come this far, no?" He did want to see all his friends go to college and go far, no matter what their ambitions were. "If you need help with classes, just ask and I will do what I can for you."

"Uhm, yeah! Of COURSE I'm happy with him!" she intoned. She was, wasn't she? Aside from the whole alpha male 'I don't need your help you embarrassed me' thing, he was quite kind. He'd taken care of her and he was a great kisser, and.. and... and... "Uhm yeah, we'll just set that thing up pretty soon. No probs." Hopefully that was the end of that track of conversation. As for the other track, she blushed a bit and nodded. "Uhm.. yeah.. that would be good, if you don't really mind. I'd hate to ask and you really sound like you'll be busy being a big movie star and everything!"

"Oh, please, as if," Alistair laughed. "Even if I do get a part in a film, I've still got plenty to make time for here. Friends, family..." A monster-sized crush on a very attractive but very oblivious blond man...
Alistair popped open his chopsticks and without even thinking, proceeded into a fairly elegant display of mastery of the things.
