His father was working an extra shift tonight. Orin had only seen him for a few moments—enough time for him to whip up a quick dinner for the boy. He'd insisted it was fine—that he would lock up the house before bed, that he wouldn't get into any trouble, that he'd do his chores—the normal things.
He didn't promise his father he wouldn’t slip out into the night to try and fight bad guys, but that was probably the least of his father's worries. Orin was a good boy, who never did anything to make too much trouble.
Except when he was powered up.
Tonight, he might have gotten in a little over his head; he had promised that he was only going to be out for a short period of time. Even if his father's shift was going to last late into the night, he didn't want to be out for too long. The park had seemed like a safe bet—but then again, Goretti wasn't used to being attacked by youma larger than him. The creature was strange, like a small horse that decided it was a good idea to steal a tortoise shell.
He had thought it would be easy—just pop a little glue, maybe throw a rock…
His glue hadn't worked. He had used his attack—same as always, but nothing had happened. A few glue specs sputtered from the ground, but they lacked any stick—and the youma was after him.
Goretti was not the best senshi by any means, but he was still learning—and he knew there was an order signature somewhere nearby. He just hoped that he was screaming loud enough for them to hear.elza magica Sorry this took so long to set up! I'm going to try to work on the other tag I owe you soon!

Oh look, thought Medea, glancing at the child ahead as he ran across her path. She strolled through the park regularly now, thinking it the biggest youma magnet. He must be filled with youthful vigor! Hear how he screams with joy as he runs! At least he's not running from a youma or anything. That would mean you actually have to work. Then, lo and behold, a turtle-horse appeared! Even though Medea would have fantasized about owning such a pet, she realized that the child faced for-real danger and that this was not a whacky chase scene (Unfortunately. She somewhat enjoed whacky chase scenes. That catchy background music! That suspense!).
"HAY WEE PERSON." She ran to the child. "OVER HERE."
What could she enchant? Trees? The child? Herself? Even so, she didn't know if she had the strength to destroy the youma. As she neared the boy, she noticed his super-colorful outfit. Was he a child warrior like Lenka and Euphrosyne?
She didn't know how she felt about kids in this war, but at least the current objectives seemed obvious: Protect the kid! Kill the monster!
We can do it! she thought. I hope!

The human voice was like angels descending upon him; Goretti cocked his head and skidded to a stop before quickly changing directions and ran straight towards the senshi. "There's a youma after me and I couldn't get it to stop!" he cried; the only advantage he had in the situation was speed—and he was grateful for that if it meant he wasn't going to be the youma's next snack.
"You've gotta stop it! Hit it or something! Kick it, really hard! I can try to glue it again but I need to catch my breath!" he gasped, already sucking in a large breath.
The youma came shuffling out of the bushes, sloppily, just a few seconds later; it seemed to have lost sight of Goretti and looked around. When it spotted the chibi and Medea it puffed itself up and let out a wheeze of a roar and charged at them, head lowered and prepared for impact.

"Oookay." Medea looked at the boy. She looked at the youma. She looked at the boy. "Ooookay." She pushed the kid out of its way and barely stumbled out of the youma's path. How did she do that?! Could she do it again? Did she accidentally harm the child Senshi? She hoped not, but better a scrape or bruise than being trampled by a youma, right?
"Sorry!" she cried--just in case.
Things to enchant...Things to enchant...Medea stepped backward and bumped into a tree.
Yes! If they were lucky, the youma would dash into it, or at least feel distracted enough for them to land a blow.
"Alluring Enchantment!" Medea's hands glowed pink, and as she pressed one to the tree, the glow shifted from her to it. She pointed at the youma, and her hands ceased to shine.
Hopefully they would have the chance to strike! Perhaps the child recovered enough energy to help her?

"I'm okay!" Goretti reassured; he was light enough on his feet that being pushed out of the way hadn't thrown him off balance. He blinked, waiting to see what her attack did—though found himself squeamish and worried that the youma was going to do something before they really damaged it.
Sucking in a breath, he tried to muster up as much focus and strength as he could—and called out, "Goretti Glue Puddle!"
His heart felt like it stopped for the split second it took for him to see if it had work, but when a pale white puddle appeared beneath the youma, he cheered.
The youma seemed fairly slowed down; it was confused more than anything and tried to crane its neck down when it realized the sudden difficulty in movement. Trying to pry one now very sticky leg from the glue puddle, it hissed again, flailing its head wildly and trying to attack Medea. She was nearer than Goretti, who didn't approach the youma but held both of his clenched fists in front of him, seeming ready to charge in any second.

Medea stared into the youma's eyes, searching for a thought or a soul. She wondered if it could feel or think beyond its main objectives, but then, could she? She worried only about protecting the Chibi Senshi, and didn't even consider swaying him to save himself by never powering up again or convincing the Guardian Cats to abstain from enlisting young ones without a legal guardian. Perhaps she was only better than the youma because she bore some self-control and protected the innocent, like the child clenching his fists.
Other than that though...
She shook her head. Now was not the time. She drove a fist into the youma's snout.
Would it crumble under the force or just step back with the sting of pain? She couldn't tell. Certainly she became better at punching since her first youma fight, when she passed out from exhaustion.

The youma howled, but it had been weak and worn down enough that the hit was enough to destroy it. In a few seconds, the glue turned to powered dust and disappeared into the wind along with it. Goretti visibly relaxed, and it wasn't long before he had a smile on his face.
The youma had been scary, but at no point had he been really concerned that his life was in danger. It didn't mean he wasn't grateful for the assistance, though!
"That was awesome, thanks so much!" he said, trotting over to the senshi. He stood up tall, proud, and held out his hand while introducing himself. "I'm Goretti, Chibi Senshi of Glue. That youma kinda caught me off guard, so I'm really glad you were here. That could have gotten ugly!"

"Whoa." Dust flew past Medea. It strayed into her hair, flecked her skin, teared up her eyes. She laughed, wiping away the specks and tears with them. She couldn't let the little one see her cry! That would suggest she did a bad thing, like killing an animal. No, she was fine. Just fine. It was just the dust. She faced Goretti with the LARGEST GRIN EVER. EVERYTHING WAS GREAT.
"You're the awesome one!" Medea shook his hand. "My name's Medea, Senshi of Enchantment, and without your glue magic, I would definitely have been toast!"
She brushed off her skirt and fixed her tiara. She couldn't afford to look disheveled before her hero!
"So tell me, Goretti, why are you out here by yourself?" What if he stumbled across an agent like Euphroysne did? Without a guard, he surely couldn't win, could he? "Aren't you nervous fighting solo? There are some really scary things out there."
But then again, he saved her.
Maybe she needed the guard.

Goretti couldn't help but laugh, though he seemed a bit sheepish. "Oh, I didn't do all that much. To be honest, I didn't really even mean to get into a fight. I was just sort of exploring, getting the feel of things. I didn't start doing this all that long ago, so I don't want to get into a lot of trouble. Most of the time I go out with someone—I usually go out with Tortali or Lenka and they have my back. I thought I wouldn't be getting into any trouble so I didn't think I was going to need any backup. But I'm pretty glad that I ran into you. See, I haven't told my dad that I'm a senshi or anything, so I don't want to get hurt or anything and have to tell him."
He shrugged. "But, I figure it's normal to be nervous fighting alone. There are scary things out there, so it's always good to have some backup. Do you need backup or anything? If you ever don't want to be out alone, you can call me and we could go out together. I know I'm not that great of a fighter or anything, but I promise I'd have your back!"

"You're very wise by not telling your father about your senshi life," she said, saddened that the war brought secrets between Goretti and his father and her and her parents. She wondered if like them, he hated the "terrorists". "And I would love to patrol with you! In fact, if you can't reach Lenka or Tortali or another Senshi you trust, always call me, okay? Even if it's 1am and you're exploring the entrance of Mt. Doom. I'll always be there for you!"
If agents cut him into slivers, broke his back, beat his face, she would hunt them down--gather a team of the most powerful Senshi she knew and track them and harm them beyond the point of walking, thinking, breathing...
Normally she avoided battle, but for the protection of innocent sweethearts like Goretti, she would destroy.
All of this she thought with an ordinary grin.
"Aw, sweetie!" She laughed and reached his eye-level. "You're a great fighter, and you're very brave. You can save me anytime!"

Goretti understood that war was dangerous, though he had never seriously considered how it could hurt him. The worst thing he imagined was a skinned knee or some extra bruises. It was easy to be brave when you couldn't even imagine the sort of evil your enemy was capable of. Still, he laughed and planted his hands on his hips. "I'm not a great fighter, but I guess I'm pretty brave. But you are, too, you know. The way you handled that youma? It was awesome! You seem pretty strong on your own! I'd rather you not have to be saved ever, but if you do need me—" he blinked and then hastily pulled out the senshi cell phone. "I'm not totally sure how this works yet. But I can reach you from this, right? That way I can call if something comes up?"
He smiled up at the senshi, though had to brush some hair out of his face to actually see her. "Not that I'll be up at one in the morning though, so I don’t think you have to worry too much about staying up that late for me!"

"You're very sweet! Thank you!" she laughed. She pulled out her cell. "Here. Push this and point at me." She demonstrated, scanning Goretti into her phone. "Now you!"
Despite Goretti's compliments, she'd seen her colleagues in action, and concluded she couldn't win this war with her abilities. She would outsmart her opponents or acquire enough force to avenge her little friends...Yes...YES...SHE WOULD BECOME THE MIGHTIEST OF THEM ALL.
"I'll always be happy to take your call." From the tree she enchanted, a leaf fringed with yellow drifted onto the grass. She stood. "I'll always be there for you Goretti!"
"And I'm glad to hear you'll be in bed before one! You're a much better kid than I was."

Goretti beamed at the girl's words and seemed absolutely impressed by her knowledge with the phone. He mimicked her actions with his phone and seemed just delighted when she showed up in her phone. "What! That's the coolest thing ever! I want to do this to everyone!"
He examined his phone for a few more seconds before hastily pocketing it. "Were you out late when you were a kid? I might be if I thought I could get away with it, but I have to wake up pretty early in the morning for school. Plus I'm pretty sure I would give my dad a heart attack if I was ever not in bed. And I could just not do that to him. He's already got white hair so," he laughed, seeming amused by some private joke.

Chuckling, she stood. "Not quite, but I was pretty devious." She fixed her skirt. "Once I pretended to be terminally ill, so I'd miss my presentation for class." She started for the sidewalk. "I was very shy, you know."
Goretti, however, seemed most confident, the way he attacked the youma with her. Lucky for him. He wouldn't have to suffer like her. What an excellent way.
"Your father sounds like he loves you a lot." If something ever happened to Goretti, she would never forgive herself. "It's very good to think of him while you do this. He's someone to fight for and someone to live for." How could she protect him to spare his father potential grief? She didn't know except to make herself accessible in case he needed help. Something... "Always put your safety first, though, alright? You're wonderful, and the two of us would hate if something happened."
Swings creaked. Her tiara gleamed. His brooch shined.

For a long moment, Goretti looked up at Medea. He didn't quite seem like he was judging the girl, though he was certainly contemplating something.
They were strangers, and here she was—already caring and concerned for his wellbeing. She didn't seem to be suspicious—just nice.
So he smiled.
"Sure thing, Medea. I'm going to make sure I know my limits before I throw myself out there. I'll do what I can, when I can, and if I'm not sure if I can do something, I'll call in backup. So you just give yourself the same warning too, all right! You think of all the people you care about and want to protect, and always remember that from now on I'll be worrying and wondering if you made it home okay. Now, I know it's pretty late now, so I should probably get home before the real trouble starts. You seem like you have more experience than me, so I'm sure you can stay out a little later."
Plus, she was probably at that age where parents suspected their kids were sneaking out windows and being up to no good.
"But," he looked at his phone and then back up to her. "If you need anything, I'll be there! It was really good to meet you—and thanks so much for helping me out with that youma!"
