Rider

Name: Z'radi
Age: 43
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual, Male preference
Rank: Wingrider
History:

Zaradi was born to poor workers at the Harpercraft hall. They were farmers, but they wanted her to be a harper, which they considered to be a wonderful profession. Zara, however, didn't take to harpercraft and did not respond well to the pressure put on her to do so. She wasn't sure what else she could do with herself, however, so she kept trying for their sake, even when it became clear that it just wasn't for her.
The pressure didn't ease up until her little brother Zamar was born. He was a charming little sweetheart, and when he started showing Harper aptitude their parents attention became focused on him instead to the point where they almost completely ignored their firstborn for their new boy. This was exactly how Zaradi liked it. Without the pressure to be one thing, she could be whatever she wanted to be. Unfortunately, she liked fighting, especially starting fights. She would dress in androgynous clothes and cut her hair short to prevent anybody from not fighting her just because she was female.
Her parents eventually began to take notice and were horrified by what their little girl was doing. Her brother, however, thought it was the most hilariously awesome thing ever. Right under their parent's noses, they began to concoct schemes to set up fights and make money off of them.
Zaradi was searched to Benden weyr before these schemes could come to fruition. She was a troublesome candidate, often sent off to punishment duty for instigating and participating in fights. She stood for two clutches there, impressing to Rotatonth on the third, before making any lasting friends (outside of her dragon). Rota's influence was calming and during her weyrlinghood (where she wasn't allowed to fight) she found herself blowing off steam by taking walks outside instead of fighting. One night, she looked up at the stars and suddenly realized how breathtaking they were. She wanted to learn more, so the next day she went to talk to the resident starcrafter. She studied under a resident Starcraft master and managed to achieve Senior Apprentice rank in that craft before her difficulty with focusing in a classroom setting got in the way.
Rotatonth was not happy about Z'radi quitting in general, or about the night flights that Z'radi was fond of taking over the weyr, but as long as there was work to be done, and as long as they were doing it, Rota was satisfied.
When thread returned, Rotatonth was, to an extent, delighted. It meant an end to useless frivolity, and a need that they- her rider and her- could and had to fill. Threadfall filled her with infectious anticipation, which began to spill over her bond affect her rider. Z'radi, who had still been a very energetic and dynamic person even after all these years, began to become more like her imposing and ascetic dragon. They both soon found a mutual frustration in their status as 'flighty greenriders' and their stereotype for low stamina, and the resulting inability to be anything more than a mere wingrider. Z'radi didn't like hearing that she wasn't good enough because of factors beyond her control, and Rotatonth didn't like how this got in the way of her doing her job. Leadership wasn't a concern- they both knew this wasn't for them- so much as recognition for their efforts and potential.
When the revolution came, it didn't take much prodding for the pair to join up and later, transfer to Malvren. Z'radi agreed strongly with the cause and did not mind the methods too much. She also liked the idea of duels. Rotatonth didn't care about the cause (aside from the appeal of earned respect as opposed to color-based respect) and disliked the methods because, to her, violence is inefficient and damages the workforce. But they've stayed around anyway and offered their services as best they could.

Description:
Z'redi is short, broad and stocky, the sort of person that looks, at first glance, to be tiny and ineffectual. Her face is wide and squat and large-featured, with prominent bones and a heavy brow. Some unkind people have called it 'squashed'.
Her dark brown hair is thin and lanky, crew cut at the shortest and ear-length at the longest. Her dark brown- nearly black- eyes rarely give away much in the way of emotion.
Her clothing tends towards the boring- everything is brown or undyed and not of the best quality.

Personality:
In her youth, she was a wild fighter woman who didn't give a s**t about what others thought about her. Nowadays, Z'redi doesn't start fights, and she likes to think of herself as a professional for doing so. If she has issues with someone, she tends to put them aside, or at least try to. She is only human, sometimes its hard to set things aside.

She does try to keep her personal motivations sidelined, and if she must make a concious effort to do so, she will. Her dragons influence means that doing 'the job', whatever it might be, is more important than petty personal things.

She isn't unfriendly, however, and tries to keep attitudes of others and of herself as neutral or positive as she can. Competition outside of the job is fine, and she secretly likes some on the job, but not where it damages relationships and causes inefficiencies. In her mind, she and Rotatonth have already proven themselves, and so she sees no need to constantly test themselves. But outright backstabbing competition makes her uncomfortable.

Ever since thread started falling, Rotatonth has been strict with her, and she has taken to being a disciplined soldier quite well. She is happy to follow orders, and holds herself to a high standard, one which she tries to maintain through diet and exercise.

Whether its her or her dragon that has the standards is uncertain, but Z'radi often chafes against her own restrictions. Being naturally energetic, boisterous, and bold, so she sometimes breaks free. She loves a good fight, and whenever she can catch a break from her labors (and from her dragon) she is happy to have a friendly fight with someone. Duels, in principle are great. The problem is, she has learned that duels lead to injuries, and when people get hurt like that, sometimes those injuries linger. Lingering injuries make work more difficult and that part, she isn't fond of that. Her motto here is: Leave injuring to thread, and fight for fun not work.

She is actually a little ashamed of this side of herself, though, and periods of relaxation are followed by dragon-encouraged guilt. She holds her professionalism in high esteem, and feels that she has to be disciplined and aloof and generally cool to everybody in order to be professional. She tries to repress herself or hide her emotions as much as she can, but its more difficult than she would like. Her true personality wants to shine through and sometimes she just needs to let it.

She also has the quiet, private hobby of stargazing, which she likes to do. She isn't ashamed about this hobby so much as embarassed. She knows a little bit about the stars and starcraft, but really she just likes looking at them. Whenever she can gain access to a telescope, she does so.

In short, Z'radi is a genuinely pleasant person to work with who will do anything you put her to with professionalism and zeal, but who likes a good brawl now and then.

Other:
On Rebellion: Z'redi isn't too happy about what they did to get here, what with all the murdering, but now that they're here she's finding that she's more and more willing to believe in their cause.

On Whers: Whers are very industrious and can do a lot of things. Z'redi respects them and their handlers, though she wishes that they (and their handlers) would find less violent solutions to their problems, solutions which didn't interfere with work.
Still, the handlers are often interesting to talk to.

On Dragons: Dragons are dragons. Dragons are big and useful and intelligent and other than that Z'redi doesn't have any important opinions on dragons, aside from her own dragon.

On the Resistance: No real opinion. She knows who she works for.

Additional Skills: She knows apprentice-level starcrafter information and stargazes as a hobby

Dragon
Name: Rotatonth
Age: 24
Colour: Green
Description: (Average, Average)
Rotatonth is a normal-sized dark-mottled green. While there is nothing explicitly abnormal in her build, it is clear that Rotatonth is built to be in the air and stay in the air. She is very awkward on the ground, seemingly uncomfortable with the solidity beneath her. In the air, her flight is very precise and controlled, and she is very good at gliding, swooping, and betweening. Her issues lie in landing and she does still have the stamina problem of greens.
Personality:

Rotatonth is a green with a high opinion of herself, no surprises there. Unlike many greens with similar mindsets, she doesn't aspire to be anything 'more' or think of herself as better than other greens. Nothing like that. Rotatonth is happy to be what she is, and while she is proud of herself it is not to the extent of putting down other colors. On the contrary, she isn't much for judging others at all. Other people and dragons are other people, and other dragons, and their business is their business. She has no right to speculate or interfere.
With regards to herself and her rider, however, that is another story. Her high opinion of herself manifests as holding herself to an incredibly high standard, which she enforces through self discipline and a gruelling work ethic.
Rotatonth is the sort of dragon that loves work, a workaholic dragon if you will. It doesn't really matter what the work is- she has to stay busy otherwise she feels bored and miserable. If she can't find anything to do, she usually ends up diligently going through training regimens for herself and her rider. Its almost as though she is incapable of lazing, or is somehow afraid of inactivity.
While Rotatonth is adept in the air and capable of fancy maneuvers and acrobatics, she doesn't do them for fun and doesn't show off. To her, they are simply means to an end. Since they expend energy, she would rather not use them if she doesn't need to. Her goal is efficiency and quality, and she likes to think of herself as a professional, willing to give her all for any job, no matter how demeaning or small.
This attitude gives her an air of businesslike neutrality and efficiency, even when technically off duty. This is not a dragon that makes friends, but neither does she make enemies. She likes to keep things strictly business and to work with others to get a job done efficiently. She understands this is hard if there is bad blood between them. Thus, Rotatonth will go out of her way to make things at least cordial. She doesn't care if this hurts her pride or if the other person was in the wrong. To her it is the responsible and professional thing to do, and encourages her rider to do the same.
Speaking of her rider, Rotatonth doesn't like Z'redi's occasional tendency to take breaks and cause nasty chaotic 'friendly' fights. She would rather spend all of that 'free time' endlessly practicing for whatever she feels they need practice on. But she cant stop her from doing that, or from stargazing. Z'radi knows her displeasure well. But Rota also knows that she has to pick her battles, and these aren't worth fighting too hard over. After all, she likes stars too.

Other:

On Rebellion: Rota likes the meritocratic nature of the Wherholds and their efficient way of working. She doesn't like the idea of duels, though.

On Dragons: Dragons are dragons. She is proud to be one.

On Whers: Whers have many uses, and she appreciates working with them. She wishes they were smarter and were better controlled though.

On the Resistance: No real hostility, though it was annoying that they were so quick to dismiss her as a green. She is green, she is perfectly fine being green, and she doesn't understand why this is a problem or why it should make her less able to do her job.

=D! Hey! These guys look great, just a couple of minor things to clear up and I'll be glad to approve them.

- Once you become a rider you can't leave the Weyr to study a craft. She could however have studied under a Master at the Weyr in her spare time, and her now having apprentice level skill is fine!

- My only other point is mild confusion. At the end of her history you say Z'radi liked the idea of duels but in her personality you say she doesn't like them. If this was a change of heart could you just mention when that came about?

Thanks!
