 Concerto was staring up into a fruit tree, debating with himself whether the red fruit in the tree was edible. "Hmmm...." he muttered to himself aloud. "It looks kind of edible... But maybe it's not... It does kind of look rubbery...." He kept staring at this mysterious fruit deep in thought.

 What was the normal day in the life of a winged male with a large family? A long relaxing day in an orchard, eating apples and resting. That is, as long as his family didn't need him to patrol or pull the plow for the human. So all in all, today wasn't really his "normal day". Theolan walked through the orchard happily. All his other siblings and family were taking care of the chores today so he had a FULL day to do whatever he wished. And today, he wanted to munch on some of those delicious apples he had seen. But it looked like he wasn't alone, he saw a foal near one of the bigger apple trees. "Not quite big enough to reach them yet, are you?" He asked before walking up and picking an apple out of the tree and setting it down on the ground before the foal.

Concerto stared at the strange red fruit. "Wait... so it is edible?" he asked the winged adult. Concerto had just made a decision that the fruit wasn't edible after all, since it looked so rubbery on the outside.

"Oh yes! They're quite delicious. They're called apples and their juice is sweet. Well, normally, sometimes if you find green ones, they're kind of sour tasting!" Theolan said with a grin, reaching up to grab another for himself. He made a show of eating it in front of the foal to show him that they were indeed edible.

Concerto tentatively took a bite of the apple. It's really good, he thought. Then he remembered the adult in front of him."It's good," Concerto replied after a minute of chewing. "What other fruits here are edible?" he asked. He knew that he had seen a curved yellow fruit and an orange fruit earlier, but the apple had almost made him forget about the other different fruits.

Theolan smiled gently at the foal. Oh what it was like to be young an inexperienced with the world around him. "There are all kinds all around the island. There are some called bananas that are kind of crescent moon shaped and yellow, and some that are round like a ball and orange properly called oranges! I think those are the most popular around the isle. Have you never had fruit before?" Theo asked the young foal even though he already knew the answer. He wondered who was taking care of the foal who didn't even know about apples!

Concerto stared fascinated at the adult as he explained the different fruits. Oh, how it made his mouth water! When the adult asked if he had ever had fruit before, Concerto was a little confused. I don't think I would be asking about if this fruit was edible if I had ever had fruit before.... But I guess this adult wouldn't know that.
"I haven't had fruit before, since I'm from the middle of the island. There are a few trees there, but it's mostly grassland," Concerto responded. The question kind of reminded him of his brother, Punk Rhapsody. Punk always asked questions on the different things that Concerto was searching around for, since he usually wasn't paying attention to the facts in front of him.

Theolan nodded, it was as he thought. But still, the foal was young and there would be plenty of time for him to explore the isle. "I grew up a little north of the grasslands with lots of trees so from an early age I was around a lot of different fruits. But you're still young and have plenty of time to explore the isle." He reached up to grab a few more apples for the young one.

Concerto took another bite of his apple as he thought about exploring the isle. Exploring the isle would be fun. It would be interesting to find out what else about the north of the island is different than home. Especially since I can't go to the south."...yet," he finished aloud.
After realizing his mistake, Concerto quickly covered it up. "I mean to say, it would be fun to explore the island, but I don't think my brother would come with me yet." That was close, he thought. He knew he shouldn't mention anything about the south in the north, and vice versa. He at least had enough common sense to keep from mentioning the south when he was this far north.

Theolan didn't quite believe the foal's cover story but said nothing and just arched an eyebrow at him. "It is wise to travel with someone, it's good that you know that already. Apart from being safer, it also provides companionship along the way. When traveling for long periods of time or going somewhere far away, having someone with you could make the time pass quicker." Theo recalled his travels with Rashieran and how having him accompanying him made the world of difference. He also thought about his now grown children, oh what a difference parenthood had made in him.
