As was mentioned in the brochure that circulated around the island, the designated meeting place for all Pae'il who signed up for the Back to Nature Hike was just on the southern edge of Tuatha'Ri Lake, where the beach meets the Chai'en River (which separates Loka Nei Forest with the jungle in the north, forest in the south). The area was buzzing with activity as Avalon fairies dressed for the hike in their khaki shirts and shorts and tiny little safari hats prepared for the incoming Pae'il. Fairies were checking over backpacks, canteens, and a couple large hand carts full of supplies.

Back to Nature Hike was an outdoor enthusiasts dream. There was going to camping, hiking, fishing, white-water rafting, and even some treasure hunting as they explored the ruins near the Fae Clearing. The fairies were going to supply everything the Pae'il needed, so as everypae checked in, they'd be given a backpack, tent, bedroll and canteen. Inside the backpack were a week's worth of food rations (trailmix, jerky, special fairy-prepared meals that required only water to rehydrate-for emergencies). One of the handcarts is supplied with food, and a fairy chef so they'd eat well at camp. The food in the backpack was for emergencies.

Also included in the backpack
  • matches
  • a pocket knife
  • pocket lantern (fueled by algae)
  • a bandana
  • bug repellant
  • a small first-aid kit prepared by the fairies of the Fallassion House of Healing (bandages, poltice, herbs, etc.)
  • 2 flares
  • a small shovel
  • a solar blanket.

"Welcome! We're so glad you chose to spend your summer vacation with us for our special Back to Nature Hike through the esteemed Loka Nei Jungle. We're going to be exploring some newly discovered sites and learning why the forest turned into a jungle. MAGIC!" the little fairy, who happened to be on the portly side so his little khaki shirt buttons looked ready to burst. "We're going treasure hunting and promise an exciting archaeological experience!"

Overjoyed and bouncing with excitement, he announced, "We'll head out around noon so we can make camp before sundown."

(NOTE: Pae'il do not have to pair up with their OOC-assigned partners at this time. They are free to show up, gather their supplies and socialize. The scenario will make it clear when the partnering portion of the event is to begin. You may RP in here for now while we get things started.)

User Image Lira had gotten to the meeting ground, got the backpack, didn't really care what was in it, ignored the Fae and decided that pacing would be a better use Of her time as she was nervous, dreadfully, dreadfully nervous and she wasn't even sure if Kaiden has signed up for this, she just hoped he had and they would be able to do it together, have fun with it, but the reality of it all was that she didn't do these sorts of things, she didn't venture out of the tree, she didn't want to venture out of the tree, she wanted to remain around the tree, close to where she could be protected if anything went wrong, this was just WAY too far out of her comfort zone and what about darling Arik? What if they didn't come back!? What would happen to him? She couldn't leave the poor darling! She just couldn't! She would never forgive herself if something happened out there and he was left parentless again! Lira looked around for Kaiden, deciding that she was going to go back, she could go venture into some jungle another time...like....when she had gotten used to venturing outside and around the tree a bit more, she wasn't ready to go into some wilderness where she could be killed by some vicious animal. Where they were going had God knows what out there and she didn't want to take part in it, she changed her mind, she thought it might be a good excursion for her and Kaiden, maybe become a bit closer in their friendship, that was always good right? Nice bonding exercise? But now that she thought about it she was wrong, it was a bad choice, she shouldn't of said yes, it was true that her and Kaiden getting close was a good thing and one of the two reasons she said yes, the other, she was, admittedly, curious as to what could be in this forest but no more, she wanted to go home.

Lira should of just ignored the brochure! And besides, who REALLY knows what these Fairies are like!? For all she knew they were just leading them to their doom! No, they wouldn't, she may not know much about them but she doubted they would set all this up just to kill them off but really, the sooner she saw Kaiden, if she saw him, to tell him she was going home the better, she hateded to pull out like this but all the reasons she should not go were a lot more sane sounding to her then the reasons she should. Sure she trusted Kaiden to keep her safe but she also didn't want to put that much pressure on him and she shouldn't have to, he should be able to enjoy this! So home she would go, home to where she could just spend the time with Arik, that would be far more fun then trying to not be eaten by some wild animal right?

Delfin graciously accepted the little backpack handed out to him with a small smile. Wings fluttering, he gave a mighty bow to the avalon and moved to the next group where a portly, much older tiny fae was explaining things. Rolling his eyes at the small speech, he shifted the backpack to his shoulder and wandered off to look over the pae that had arrived. Surely there had to be someone here worth looking at. Perferably someone with a rack and a nice tooshy he could pinch.

Shizzle gave the small Avalon fairie a rather informal handshake before hurrying to the side of the clearing. Settling down on his rump, he promptly opened the pack and begin to go through it. After a short while, he shoved the things back into the pack with a small grumble. Not one shiney thing in the whole darn pack. What was he gonna use matches or a bandana for? Besides lighting them on fire and trying to get someone to rescue him.

It wasn't until the tiny, fat fairie said something about treasure hunting that he perked up. Shizzle could always use more treasure. And if worse come to worse, he could alwas put the shineys in this annoyingly useless backpack of his.

Pelagious began jumping around almost instantly. He couldn't wait to go into the jungle and learn about food and supplies and treasure and explore the unexplored. He was practically floating from excitement. Grabbing the backpack and jerking it from the avalon hard enough to spin the poor winged creature, he all but ran over the lumpy fae and looked at him in a most adoring way.

He loved those cute little outfits they were wearing. He wondered if he could possibly make one in his size....

User ImageArriving early, Joi quietly surveyed the set up. She smiled slightly at the thought of how this seemed so juvenile. Like something the children should be doing, not full-grown adults. Going off to the woods to learn? Yeah, that's something the children need to learn. She knows this woods as well as these fairies since she grew up them. She wondered what more there was she wasn't aware.

Sighing, she approached the check-in fairy. She was doing this for mother. For research because Dizzy couldn't make it, but she wanted to know what new discoveries the little Avalons have made in their home wood.

Joi was very confident she'd not get lost, so she almost turned down the offered pack. But she didn't want to seem smug. She wanted to make the best of this because it was a vacation adventure. And she was here not only for research for her mom, but she was hoping to make new friends.

She nodded her head, and thanked the little portly fairy, trying not to giggle at him. She looked in the pack to see if they included an itinerary. Odd that they didn't.

User Image Iris Topaz was wondering if was such a good idea to let go on a trip with another random pae after what had happened last time with the dance with the gods as she walked to the meeting place. As she got to the clearing she checked in the the fae they gave her the pack. Looking in the pack she smiled at least this time she would be prepared if something happens. "This will be fun." she said with a smile.

Kylieam glanced about as he arrived, looking over the little faries who seemed excited and ready to get this nature hike rolling. He couldn't help but laugh softly at the enthusiasm they all shared, which seemed to be spilling over onto him, and so he greatly thanked the one that handed him his pack and walked off smiling. He glanced around at the already forming gathering before peering at the contents in his bag. "Seems they have us all well prepared." he smiled.

After he had rummaged through his pack, noting what all was there and what exactly it was for, he slung the pack over his shoulder and meandered closer towards the gathering pae. Looked like it was going to be one well mixed crowed. As he overheard the voice of a rather gem like faun, he couldn't help but chuckle. "Looks like it will be fun indeed!"

The zebra fauny knew that this was a wonderful opportunity before her. She had already learned so much about some of the native plants in Loka Nei forest, but how much more so could she learn from a guided tour by some of the fairies? Zecora had brought her own bag with her, empty, in hopes of carrying away some new plants that she might catalog away.

It was a long walk from the tree to the meeting place, one that Zecora was getting quite used to, so she wasn't too warn out by the time she got to the spot. Zecora threw on the backpack that was given to her by the fairies. Treasure hunting? That had not been what Zecora had expected. What happened to the holistic approach of living in harmony with nature. Zecora was all about holistic medicine, but had not expected archaeology. She wasn't entirely sure what she had signed up for now, but she wasn't too worried about it. Maybe this would be fun.

User ImageApple Bloom was more than ready for this hike! She'd wanted Sweetie Belle to come with her, after all, the Cutie Mark Crusaders should stick together! But her friend had been more interested in the mountain thing, so they'd split up. It felt a little weird to be here by herself, but the prospect of treasure hunting was what had successfully lured the teen to the jungle hike. Maybe that was her special talent! She knelt near the group of pae that were also going on the hike and snooped through the backpack she'd been given when she checked in. Wow, they'd thought of everything! Though, she wasn't sure if she'd like having to use what she assumed were emergency supplies. The hike was supposed to be guided, so they were supposed to be safe...but safe wouldn't get her a cutie mark, either. She supposed she'd call this whole thing a success if she made a friend or two. Even if she didn't get a cutie mark.

User ImageCoronus flew over to the meeting sight for the jungle hike and landed easily onto the grass when she saw the group of Avalon Fairies flying around. "Humm I think this may be the right place." she was not to sure since she had promised her self that she would not use her powers for a while since they seemed to cause more trouble than they were worth. Also she wanted to understand something that had been bothering her for a while. She thanked the Fairies when she checked in and got her bag. Looking at the pae that were around she noticed that there were a few pae already here.

Sapphire placed a hand over her mouth as she covered up her yawn; she wasn't bored, but tired since she'd been up since the early morning. She looked over all the different faces, recognizing that there were some very unique looking Pae'il; none of who she knew. With a shrug, she stretched both her arms and wings out as she enjoyed the fresh air.

Walking over to one of the Fairies to check in, the blue demon slung the received backpack over one of her shoulders. It mildly concerned her that there was so much emergency-preparedness gear in the cases, which she discovered after she'd found a spot near the check in point and had dug through the bag.

Walking in quickly, the princess tried to remain around the least-populated groups. She had come in before many of them, immediately at the earliest time specified, and moved with purpose directly to the check-in area. Her eyes never seemed to raise from the ground, and not once did she look at another pae directly. Save for the fauny and the fae which, much to her pleasant surprise, seemed to be numerous on this trip. Perhaps that was the reason Clairvoyance had recommended her to come to this specific one of the retreats, that she knew there would be many here that did not trigger the horrible images of vacant eyes and spilling innards as the blood pae and faun did.

This was the reason for her recent reclusive behavior within her room, to avoid the constant reminders of that horrid dream that merely seeing a faun would bring. Only by remaining in her room was she able to limit them. Likely, were it not for her mellon's intervention, Celestia would have remained like this for far longer. She had told the princess that, while in this state, she was distancing herself further and further from those she considered closest, that she had even missed the birth of three little alicorns by Cadance and Shining Armor. While she hid herself from the world, the world had simply continued on without her.

It had been the piece of hard reality she needed to leave.

That didn't make it any easier, however, to ignore the flickering flashbacks or to pretend that nothing was the matter. Even if she could walk with the posture of her old position, she could not help but avert her eyes and quicken her pace, hoping to return to her solitude quickly.

After taking the backpack, she thanked the fairy before quietly retreating to the edge of the meeting location to sit down and look through it.

A piercing howl cut through the dense forest, preceding the crashing sounds of someone...or something...moving through the forest at great speed. More than just one, from the sound of it...

Skidding to a halt at the assigned meeting place, barely avoiding bowling over a pair of Pae'il speaking near the edge of the clearing, a fuzzy teenage Faun whirled and pointed with a laugh. "Ha! I win!"

A grey, mottled wolf skidded into the meeting area just behind the teen Faun. She wore a look of indignation, her lip lifting in a sneer. Uppity kid. Just cause she chose NOT to crash headlong through that patch of saplings and take a twig to the eye...

Snorting, she shook her head and padded in a circle, sending glares towards any Pae'il looking her way. Ugh, the shame. Bested by a whelp.

Behind the pair, at a much more controlled pace, though still swift, a grey Faun followed. He chuckled at the duo, shaking his head at the wolf. "He may have eaten a mouthful of branches for it, but he did beat you, Raina." He only chuckled again at the answering growl from his canine companion. He crossed to the boy, pausing to pick some loose leaves from his hair. "Alright kid, guess we made it this far. Let's see what these fairies can teach us, eh?"

As Faroth left to go talk to some of the plump little fairies, Ranuin leaned over, panting and catching his breath. Looking at the pouting wolf, he moved over towards her on silent paws, reaching out to scratch behind her ear. She shot him a glare at first...but she couldn't hide the swish of her tail in the dirt.

Faroth returned shortly after the 'apology', tossing a pack at his son with a grin. "Looks like we're well-outfitted for this. Shouldn't be too hard, right, kiddo?"

At the sound of a wolf's howl, Celestia visibly jolted as she looked towards the patch of forest it came from. Branches cracking, leaves rustling, were they coming for her? Had they found her, away from her safe place? No... The blood pae of this time were different... They had to be... Yet, this panic, this fear, remained.

A sigh escaped the princess's lips as they instead revealed themselves to be faun, and a smile almost reached her lips at the young ones' youth. Almost. The momentary flashes of horror, of arrows piercing their necks and holes exposing their organs, forcing her to quickly avert her eyes away to the ground, her attention instead on keeping her breathing calm and the sudden dizziness of her head from overtaking her.
