Lenka had been puzzling over something for a while. Puzzling and wondering, and finally she thought she had found a solution. There was some way to save people from being bad, so in theory, there might be a way to save Remarque from being bad too.

Julienne supported her fully for this, and since the Dark Mirror Senshi had something to do with Dark Mirrors…clearly, perhaps if you had a good mirror…well.

That would clearly balance everything out. She had spent a good few hours placing stickers on a hand mirror that she had found in a store. It seemed like a good idea. It really had, and boy did she have a ton of stickers on this thing. Pretty sparkly stickers, unicorns, hearts, stars, balloons…tons of happy things. Good things. Jedi and pokemon, anything that was good that she could think of…she had stuck it on the mirror…but all of the shiny stickers—those were the ones on top.

This had to be the answer. Julienne was convinced that Remarque could be a good guy…and maybe even was a decent guy…so wasn’t it her duty to try and help? Maybe if she wasn’t such a bully to him…maybe he wouldn’t be such a mean guy to her…

Maybe this had been all her fault to begin with. The senshi scoffed at the thought and continued walking, her bag with the mirror inside held loosely in her hand. She was at the park, somewhere she had met Remarque a few times at least, and maybe he was here now. “Remarqueeeee! Are you here? I want to talk to youuuuuuuuuuuuuu!” Her shout filled the still night with noise. He had to have heard that. Nobody could have not heard that.

Remarque had not been looking for senshi that evening; he'd been trying to hunt wraiths, trying to sleuth. Things had been going on for too long and he was fed up enough that destroying wraiths was seeming like a viable option.

It seemed like they were always popping up when they were least wanted…and now that he was looking for them, there wasn't a single damn one in sight.

His ears pricked up when he heard his name; it wasn't near, but hello, mirrors. He maneuvered to the nearest one, picked his path quickly, and stepped out near to where he thought the voice was.

He felt the energy signature before he found the culprit—an eternal senshi…chibi?

…How many chibis did he know that were that strong? …And how many of them would be looking for him?

Clucking his tongue on the rough of his mouth, he pushed aside all suspicions and cleared the distance between the two of them. It wasn't until he half-leapt over an overgrown bush that he spotted the girl—and he'd have been lying if he said he wasn't surprised.

"Lenka," he greeted, brushing himself off. His brow seemed permanently raised as he eyed her. "I wondered who was calling me so loudly. What could you possibly want to talk about?"

There was only curiosity in his voice; he wasn't even teasing this time around.

This menace of a chibi—what could she want with him?

Aha. There he was. That stupid…jerk of a senshi. She made a face at him and sighed. “Hello Remarque. Julienne said that maybe I should be nicer to you because she thinks for some unknown reason that you might be a nice guy underneath all of your disgusting jerky exterior.” She scoffed and looked away, completely unable to make eye contact with the Dark Mirror.

“I told her she was dumb. Or, I didn’t tell her, but I told her in my head that she was dumb…so…I guess it still counts.” She shifted her weight from one foot to the other and sighed. “And she told me to apologize for being rude to you or something…but I don’t see why I should…since you always push me down…but she said that I had to take you to my asteroid again, even though I told her that you made it smell bad.”

Finally the girl looked again and shrugged. “But that’s all. And uh. Yeah. How are you?”

Remarque's brow never wavered. "Fine," he replied slowly, impressed with the progress Julienne had made with the chibi in such a short time period. He might have to stop hating cats so much after this if she was going to keep making his life easier.

"You should probably listen to Julienne. She seems like a smart cat. I'm sorry I had to push you down," he said, though didn't really feel much grief for it. Lenka had started it; he was only doing what he had to do to get her out of his way. She should have been glad he didn't rough her up some more, but even he couldn't bring himself to sink to that level.

"I'll try not to do it again." Rustling in the bushes nearby made him paranoid; he looked to make sure it wasn't a wraith primed to attack. He didn't turn his gaze back to Lenka until everything was still again; he took the chirping of crickets as a good sign. "You know, you shouldn't be out so late. At least, not by yourself. It's dangerous, and all that."

She really had to struggle not to roll her eyes at him. Sure, Julienne was a smart cat, but not because of why he was saying, not at all. She was prepared to wave that off however, when he brought into question her strength…and even went so far as to accuse her of being out when it was dangerous.

“Well excuse me. I’m an eternal senshi, same as you. I’m as safe out here as you are. Don’t patronize me because I’m a chibi, because frankly I’m sick of it. I really am. For years now, years! I’ve been doing this! Being a senshi is what I’m good at, and I’m not going to get hurt by anything. And If I do, I’ll just pick myself back up and deal with it.”

Lenka looked very grumpy and sighed heavily. “Anyway. I came here to help you, to be honest. You shouldn’t be a bad guy…or at least Julienne thinks so. So, I came to help you, because I’m the all powerful Lenka. So…get ready to stop being a bad guy…okay?”
PostPosted: Wed Aug 14, 2013 12:42 pm

"I wasn't patronizing you," the Dark Mirror Senshi huffed. "And I'm not a bad guy either. In fact, you should appreciate me warning you. That's a good deed, isn't it? There are…things out. Things that aren't usually out. Things that have hurt people I care about. Things that hurt eternal senshi. Same as you or me."

…Even if he was stronger than her, he wasn't going to feed into childish banter tonight. With the wraiths so out of hand, if one got to her? If they could do so much damage to Lesath, what could they do to a chibi?

He'd done his good deed for the night, though—he'd warned Lenka to be careful. The best thing he could do was stay on good terms with her to make sure she didn't charge off into the night, straight into the maw of some hungry mirrorwraith. So, he indulged, "But—go ahead. Even though I'm not a bad guy, why don't you tell me how you, all powerful Lenka, would stop me if I were?"

Lenka just waved off the cryptic warnings and messages. She really just didn’t even care. She was here for one purpose and one purpose only.

Putting her hand into the bag at her side, she stretched, drawing out the mirror. “I’m going to save you with this! Now…”

She stretched again. Trying to figure out how to reach the top of his head…she could always just jump. That would work. She held the mirror up, the shiny stickers glinting in the light from the moon. “By the power vested in me…I now pronounce you…”

Lenka concentrated with all her might, eyes closed, hoping and wishing that this would work. Maybe she could be friends with Remarque. Maybe that would be cool. Or something…anyway…Maybe…

The chibi senshi jumped up, smashing the mirror down over Remarque’s head. “…A good guy!”

She wanted something to happen. Wanted things to work. She wanted to see Remarque become a good guy now…It had to have worked.

Flabbergasted wasn't quite appropriate enough a word to express Remarque's surprise as a mirror shattered atop his head. He looked down as the displaced shards fell to the ground, glad that there was only a slight throb from atop his head—as opposed to, say, glass stuck in his skull.

He was quiet for a few moments, trying to take it all in. Lenka had…no, that wasn't an attack. He wasn't sure what that was. Was she purifying him or marrying him? Or was that just some elaborate trick to get an advance blow in?

…And yet, the girl looked so hopeful. That hadn't been an attack; there was no question about it. Remarque just didn't know how to respond. He couldn’t demand to know what the hell she was thinking, couldn't push her down or throw a tantrum.

All she wanted was to make him a good guy? What the hell did that even mean? He hadn't done anything bad—at least, not when compared to the Negaverse. At a loss for words but unwilling to let the silence drag on, he finally cleared his throat. "…Did it work?" he asked, reaching up to brush the remaining shards from atop his head.

Lenka winced slightly when the sound of breaking glass filled her ears. She wasn’t sure that it should have been that sound…not for something as amazing and special as helping someone get away from being bad…no, it should have been a good sound. A pretty sound. Not a crashing sound.

She looked up at Remarque, frowning and giving a little wince as she saw the shards of glass fall off of his head and onto the ground, tinkling as they did so.

But maybe…maybe it had worked?

The girl moved around the other senshi, looking him over, her frown growing much more pronounced as she saw that his wings were still black. Clearly black wings meant that it hadn’t worked at all…

She sighed and shook her head, going back to the front of him. “No…you’re still bad…I don’t understand why it didn’t work…I really…I just wanted it to work…” The chibi looked down at the ground, her eyes burning slightly as the reality of her failure overtook her. Finally she looked up, a tear dribbling down her cheek. “I really wanted it to work…and I wanted you to be a good senshi…so maybe we could even be friends or something…Julienne said that you’d be a good senshi…she likes you, you know…”

Lenka reached her hand up, rubbing at her eyes, rather furious with herself that she was crying in front of this guy. Her worst enemy and here she was, showing emotion…

“I just guess I’m not strong enough…”
PostPosted: Sun Aug 18, 2013 2:17 pm

The change in emotions was enough to thoroughly confused Remarque, who was off guard enough around Lenka without her bursting into tears. He almost liked her more when she was attacking him.

"Or," he suggested as a hasty alternative, "Maybe I actually am a good guy, and you didn't do anything wrong. There's always that, right?"

He almost sounded hopeful; he just wanted her to stop crying. Give him a battle, and he could be merciless. Show him a crying kid and…what? What was he supposed to do? Tell her to buck up and get over it? So, her little plan didn't work? Get over it, get stronger.

…But she was just starting to be tolerable.

Not to mention, he seriously wanted to hitch another ride with her into space. And being in good with Julienne hadn't been so troublesome either.

"Maybe there's more to 'good senshi than just what colors we wear?" he continued, shifting positions just a bit. His eyes were scanning the area, half because he wanted to make sure there wasn't a wraith lurking nearby—and half because he just couldn't look at Lenka when she was crying.

“But you’re not a good guy! You’re not a good senshi, you’re part of chaos! That’s just bad, everyone knows that! How can you be a good guy when you’re bad?” She scrubbed at her eyes and then sighed, hiccupping. “It’s just not fair. Why can’t we help you? I just want…I want to go to space with you, and we can fight chaos together…why can’t I help you? Is it because I’m just a stupid Chibi?”

She frowned, looking mostly miserable. “If I were stronger, maybe it would have worked…maybe I could have saved you from chaos…I’ll work on it…I promise. I’ll work on getting stronger….I’m going to do my best…I promise okay? I promise I’ll save you.”

Lenka hesitated, then moved forward, hugging Remarque tightly for a moment before darting off, eager to get away and complain and just eager to maybe cry a little. Maybe she would be able to talk to some older senshi…and they could figure something out. Dark Mirror Senshi couldn’t be unable to be helped…that would just be totally unfair.

Saving? He wasn't the one who needed saving. He knew what course he was supposed to be taking—what he was supposed to be doing. He knew what was right and wrong.

There was just some serious miscommunication here or something. She didn't understand what she was talking about. He was the good guy. She'd see.

He'd make sure she did.

Though…

The mirror she had smashed over his head lay discarded on the ground; he knelt and picked it up, looking at it for a long moment.

He tried to imagine the girl sitting there, diligently placing each sticker. And for what—to fix him? To be friends?

She had hugged him—something he probably never would have expected from the chibi. Remarque wasn't even sure how he felt right now, so that was a good enough sign that maybe he should head home and take the rest of the night off.

…Except he couldn't. He couldn't afford to take time off just yet.

But he wasn't about to forget her sentiments anytime soon. He flipped the mirror over, looking at his reflection through the few remaining shards that clung to the plastic backing. Maybe it was because she'd cried, or wanted so desperately to be friends or because she'd hugged him, but he didn't want to leave it there.

For a man with no interest in sentimental ties, Remarque could not explain why the mirror had wound up tucked in the back of a drawer back home.
