She entered the shrine wiht a hand on her hip. She expected to see everything in their place. But the hand slowly dropped when she saw that the statue was missing from it's pedestal. Her mouth gawked and she moved over. She looked all over and tried to examine it. Her eye brows rose as she saw that it looked as if there was nothing there to begin with. Looking down, she notices a plaque. "The Goddess, wrought with Paranoia, created ====, her last and final project before ====. It was then that she discovered how to replicate ====."
"What.. created what!?" Her curiosity was overwhelming her as she had bent down to scratch at the words that were nearly taken off the plaque. But then the voice of the Goddess startled her and she jumped upwards and turned around quickly. In front of her stood the real Goddess. The one that was supposed to be on the statue-- but glowing a deep yellow and surrounded by snapping wires. Zurie tried to stay clear form the snapping wires and she gawks at the Goddess.
"Or so it goes..."
"So it's.. not true?" She looked curiously at the Goddess and scratched at her wrist lightly. Was the plaque a lie and the Goddess was the one to have scratched it out...?
But the Goddess doesn't answer her. Instead giving her a little bag and smiling at her. "Go on, open it up. I have a gift for you."
"A gift? Oh how delicious." She smiled brightly and nearly tore the bag as she opened it. But her face falls as she looks inside. Then she looks up at the Goddess, heartbroken. "There's nothing.."
"Oh. A small error. It's okay, I can fix this." Her gaze intensifies upon Lezurie "With your help, I can fix this. Could you fetch me more parts? I stored them in my special labs but it's getting a little cluttered down there. Just look for the chests, they should be inside. I don't need everything it holds, just the heart."
Instead of looking relieved, she just looks confusedly at the Goddess. "Wait why do you need a heart to fix this? What.. Did you want to give me a heart.. I don't understand."
But the Goddess doesn't seem to be listening to her. "Just the heart. They don't need theirs after all," their expression turns turns wry, gentled at the corners with remorse, "...they didn't quite make it."
Her face scrunches up into more confusion and she tilts her head to one side before clutching at the scissors that were forced into her hands. "Al.. right I'll go ahead and do so. Even though I don't understand. But if you say they don't need it, and you do, then it will be yours! I promise. Her face brightens up and she puts the scissor in the bag and makes her way out of the shrine and to the room that the Goddess had indicated.
When she stepped inside her eyes widened at the sight of the three doors. They pulsed with a strange aura. They were all similar in a sense, however only one of them felt like the right choice. She stood there, pondering for a while, looking for which one she should pick.

Her eyes locked onto the Door with the pumpkin on it and she smiled back at the pumpkin door. Her hand pushed it open as she took a step inside. Slowly the door closed behind her and she looked around. It was a relatively normal hallway. Bright. Quiet. She took a few steps forward and noticed some flickering lights. And then some humming begins. Her mouth quirks up into a softer smile and she sighed. She took a few steps forward, each step came easier and easier until she started to feel as if she's floating towards her destination.
She walked through a field of glowing and flickering pumpkins. They are quiet similar to the one that was on the door. They smile at her as she walks over to the tombstone. She tried to smile back-- but something was unnerving her about the pumpkins. As much as they looked happy, something felt ominous about them.
Once she left the area of the glowing pumpkins, she sighed in relief. The are is now more peaceful. It felt very safe. Her eyes landed on the tombstone and flowers. They stared at the plaque carefully. "HERE LIES STEPHEN VIOLINE". She leans back and pities the poor soul that laid there. The one that.. didn't quite make it it seemed.
However she realized that the thumping noise was coming from the grave itself. She leans back forward and the noise got louder. Her hands immediately begin digging inside the grave ferociously. The heart the Goddess wanted was in here and it was calling for her.
When some resistance forced her stop she began to dig into the grave with her scissor. Thankfully it was sharp enough to pierce the resistance and open way for the heart. She grins widely and yanks the thing out-- then gasps in shock as a memory flashes before her eyes.
A man stands in font of her. He seems to be bent down, cooing softly. The words are too incomprehensible to hear, but the man's eyes were fully of pure love. His smile was deep and has a bit of crumbs on it. His eyes a bright green and hair a dark brown. His hand reaches out to pet her head softly.
And then she comes back to her senses and she shook her head roughly. "What the heck was that.." She mumbled quietly and threw the heart in her bag. "Everything's all weird today.."

She began walking out of the happy and brightly glowing area while curiously wondering about the memory. She didn't notice that the area was beginning to fill with water until it was up to her knees. She looked down at it. "What the hell? What's going on.." And then the sloshing noises behind her cause her to freeze. She jerks her head back-- but nothing was there. Her eyes narrowed and she turned to look forward. She made several steps as the water was beginning to rise even more.
Worrying abotu how much water was coming up, she tried to hurry for the exit now-- only to find a dead end. Suddenly she began to panic.
"Please give it back." Her own heart nearly stops beating and she turns around quickly. But still nothing was there. A hand reaches up to her throat and she rubs it soothingly. She tried to calm herself down while turning back to the dead end and touching he wall lightly. Looking for a way to escape.
"Please give me back my-" As this was being said, something grabbed onto Lezurie and whirled her around. She shrieks out at seeing the man from her memories-- but dulled and grey, zombie like-- Trying to push her down under the water.
"Give me back my heart." The man bared his teeth before shoving Lezurie into the water. She let out choked screams and nearly takes water into her shadow being. Her body jerked up and flailed. She flails the water taking place of the air that she was supposed to be breathing. Her hand tries to tear the being's hands away with weak strength.
And then another memory flashes into her mind. This time it was the same man-- but he looked a little older. He was grinning brightly as he held up a recipe. And on the Recipe there were ingredients for a food known as a Crepe. The crepe image on the recipe looked delicious-- but the one sitting in front of her didn't. It looked as if it had been butchered badly. The man, however laughs at the food. He picked it up and ate the entire thing. It was a very happy memory..

She suddenly realized that the person trying to kill her had something to do with her. She struggled against the pain and grabbed her scissor with a death grip. Thrusting it forward at the enemy and then gasping as the water disappears. Lezurie held onto her burning throat wiht both hands. Choking and sobbing. She wasn't quite sure who the man was to be exact, but it was someone important to her. And he tried to kill her.
Some tears falls from her eyes and she wipes at them. Grabbing hold of the bag, she stumbles as she stands up and shakes softly. The whole encounter terrified her-- but she has to be strong. She will become the next Goddess. And perhaps then she will find out why this being tried to kill her. If anything she might be able to help them.. and herself.
She is about to leave the area before she sees the man holding onto he scissor tightly and then fades from her view. With a small and terrified yelp, she runs out and back into the shrine.

Another day another task. Lezurie whistled happily as she made her way to the shrine. The last challenge was a cinch. At least.. she thinks it was. For some reason she couldn't remember at all what had occurred-- but she felt stronger from it. Her hand clenched tightly at the smooth scepter in her palms. She has had very good luck with the weapon-- and she hoped that it continued.
Soon she met with the Goddess.
"You cannot escape forever." The words spoken by the Goddess caused her to freeze in place. A chill ran down her spine and she instantly clutched at her chest which tightened. "I didn't.."
"You must face your Fears. Eat or be eaten. That is the way of it here. Were it another time... I wonder which one you would be?" Her words felt like a sharp stab in her stomach. As the Goddess began to circle her, Zurie shook in place. Never had she felt this way since the beginning of her existence.
"I wonder indeed. Perhaps we shall solve this little mystery? Take this." Zurie's hand clutched tightly at the dagger that the Goddess gave her. A symbol of some sorts. Her other hand let go of the scepter and it clanged to the ground. She accepted the Dagger in place of her own weapon and stared at it with deep thought. She was still shaking, but she felt slightly more confident with the dagger in her grasp.
Her eyes glanced up at the Goddess and she was about to speak-- however before she knew it she blacked out and collapsed to the ground. The Goddess whispered "Go." and transported her away.
------------------------------------------------
Zurie's eyes opened slowly. She was on the floor of some strange white room. Rubbing her eyes with her free hand, she noticed she still had the dagger in possession. "What am I still doing with this..? Wait. Where am I? " She stood up slowly while peering at the entirely white room. Her expression was full of confusion . The last thing she had remembered doing was listening as the Goddess told her that she must learn how to fend for herself.
She quickly dusted her outfit off and then clutched the dagger tightly. The area felt too empty. "Hello? " She called out slowly. And then again loudly. "HELLOOO?"
Her voice only echoed into the air.
She took shaky steps forward towards the only door in the room. It was unlocked, but it was empty on the other side. Her expression was that of pure confusion as she yelled out "HELLO!" Once more. And then the slam of a door shocked her into spinning around. Nothing was there though, and the door she went through wasn't closed.
Her shoulders shrugged and she turned back to continue through the hallway. It was as quiet and empty as the room.
THUD
She whipped around to see what was making the noise. But it was as empty as before. Her heart started beating roughly at her chest and she put a hand there. The hand clutched at the outfit as her steps become quicker and more unsteady.
THUD.
She didn't want to. She didn't want to look behind her. But before she could stop herself from looking, her head had already started turning. Her eyes locked onto a dark figure staring at her. It wasn't there before. "He...." She was about to speak before her eyes slowly moved downwards and she notices... the rusted scissor in the being's hands.
With a loud shriek she begins running forward without hesitation. She had continue running up until she hit a dead end. The door in front of her was locked and apparently required a passcode. Her mouth opened up to let shrieks of horror at the door. "WHY DO YOU NEED ONE!? I'M RUNNING FOR MY LIFE HERE--"
And then her mind fogs as strange figures appear before her. It was a man. Very familiar, with a messy cut hair and a scraggy beard. He's holding up a few ingredients and laughing as he points at them. His mouth is up in a wide grin and he laughs.
"You were never good at telling ingredients apart." A strange voice knocks her out of her trance. It caused her to shudder in horror... she knew exactly who said that. She freezes in fear momentarily before looking for something to help her get passed the blasted door.

Her whole body pushed at the door in desperation. She nearly cried out and slammed with her fist. She tried to use the dagger in hand as well. Clawing at the wall.
"The food you cooked tasted horrible." The being behind her cackles horrifically.
Her mouth let out a couple of sobs as the being closes in on her slowly.

As she clawed at the door with the blade, it falls to the floor suddenly with a clang. She scrambled down and hurriedly tried to grasp onto the now slippery object. It was wet with sweat from her fear.
She was finally able to clutch onto the blade after a moment of concentration and out of the corner of her eye she noticed a paper. Her hand snatched it up and she read the contents quickly. "A=0, B=1, C=2" Zurie shrieked in desperation and crumpled the paper in her hand. "How is this supposed to help me?! "

She almost gave up. Crying out and sobbing for this to be over. She fell to the floor while slamming her fists against the ground.. right before another piece of paper appears in the peripherals of her vision. With a choked gasp, she stumbled forward and clutched onto that paper. It read "A C E F".
Zurie quickly uncrumpled the other paper and began putting two and two together. With some panic, she pushes up to her feet and punches the code hurriedly into the machine. Her legs took her as far as she could go. Far from the being that was slowly catching up to her no matter how hard she ran.

She ran as hard as her chubby thighs would take her. She ignored the pain that came with it. Both physical and mental. Knowing that if she stops for a second that the figure would catch up with her easily.
She had made the mistake of stopping once already, to check back. It was nearly close enough to touch her. She had screamed and jolted forward.
While she ran forward, the being mocked her. Speaking in a distorted voice that was vaguely familiar. Her mouth clenched as it would speak. "Dragging me everywhere you wanted to go! Never letting me have my peace!" The voice cackle loudly.
"It's all your fault-- your fault! I'll take your heart for how much you took from me!"
Zurie screeched loudly and without hesitation she ran across the bridge. And as she did, it creaked and moaned underneath her weight. With one last stop to the edge, the entire thing collapses behind her and the being curses from behind her.
She knew it wasn't over yet, though, and began to pant as she ran forward once more.

She was sweating harder than she had ever been since the time of her existence. Her breath was heavier than any other time since the beginning of her existence. There was hope. She didn't hear the taunting anymore and she let out cries of happiness. Her hand clutched tightly at the dagger as she dodge a few rocks on the ground. Stumbling forward after one tripped her-- but she made it forward. Not even nature was stopping her at this point--
At least that's what she thought. Ina matter of minutes she comes upon a dead end. Her eyes searched in desperation. Zurie physically went around the area and tried to make through any place she could. But there was only a strange house. Shadows came rising from it and force stopped her from moving forward.
She cried out loudly and slammed against each area. Then the cackling began once more and her heart nearly jumped out of her mouth. She stumbled backward and could only press her back against the rickety old shack. She tried as hard as she could to back up and almost inside the building. But once again the force pushed her out and ceased any movement.
The figure was close enough that she could see a remnant of the man that was in her memory previously. She choked out a sob and turned her head away as a white flash passes through her mind. It burned fiercely and already caused tears to form at her eyes. The sky was dark. The second moon out in the sky shined bright. The tall older man was laughing besides her and they carried a big bag of food that they were to take home and enjoy for later. It was a fun day, full of food and restaurants. Not too mention the couple of stores they stopped at to pick up some ingredients to fix the dishes that were not as perfect as could be. The day almost ended without a hitch. That is.. if it weren't for the punks that came out of no where to attack them. Four to be exact. Each one of them jumped and attacked the man and herself. Nearly beating them both with power and physical violence. Everything they owned that had any value was taken. The man, her father, had taken the brunt of the attacks to protect her. He nearly died that night.
When Zurie returns from that memory, tears fall from her eyes and she sobs loudly. The figure approached her with a torn and demented smile on his face. It .. was a horrifying version of the man from her memory. It was the distorted version of her father. A sob escaped her mouth once more as she shakily holds up the dagger when the figure comes closer.
She raises it..
But it drops as the being immediately stabbed her chest. Zurie jerked and arched forward. Gasping for some air. Don't worry," coos the being, "It only hurts once." And it did. There is a loud snip and then a second. The pain was terrible, but it only lasted a while. Her eyes go dull as she watched the figure smirk and stand. Leaving with her heart.
It beat slowly, glowing a soft blue.
And she dissipates.

She bounded her way back into the shrine. She wasn't looking forward to this moment after the events of the previous day. Her hand reached to her chest and it clenched tightly at the still beating heart. With a soft sigh she looked down at her feet and then looked back up with a sort of desperation. She needed to continue-- for the sake of everything. She wasn't sure what everything was, but ever once in a while she could hear the laughter of a man.
Her now golden eyes look around slowly. Head tilting to one side before noticing it's her Patron Goddess. A wide smile takes over for the frown on her face and she instantly began to feel better. "It's you.."
"Oh! Um, hello. Make yourself at Home."
Zurie makes her way further into the shrine and watches the Goddess fidget. Her smile widen even more and she laughs.
"Cookie?"
"I would love one!" Zurie felt warm inside as she nibbled the delicious tasking treat. She sighed softly and felt more at ease. Her past troubles dissolving before her. Everything felt better now.
"I'm glad you could make it! Those others they weren't meanies to you right? I love you most. You love me too right?" As Zurie grabs another cookie, the fear and pain came back with the statement. She grabbed her chest before hurriedly looking back and gasping softly. She though the Goddess looked a little sad from her hesitation. "Yes of course I do..!"
She nibbles on the second cookie as the Goddess seemed to giggle.
"Oh, I know! I have a great idea. How about experiencing what love feels like? Love, joy, happiness, despair, hatred, they are all important emotions! We can make the most beautiful tea party together."
She looked excited from this suggestion. "I think I would love that." The Goddess giggled more as a gate folds open behind her, an arc of round grey hedges, shapes like foliage. A long rectangular table is at the end, empty. "Go on," she urges,c"Oh, I'm so curious to see what beautiful emotions you will make!"
Without any sort of regret, she hurriedly makes her way into the door. Eager to have a little party with her Goddess. After all, if she becomes one of them, it will happen often, won't it? Her denial of the fears she faced before lingers behind her mind while trying to keep herself bright and perky for the task in challenge.

Zurie took her first few steps slowly. She had learned to be careful in this world since coming into existence. Especially since her heart was torn out. This memory keeps coming back into her mind as quickly as the wind blows. Her eyes looked up carefully and noticed that the wind blew more here than it did in the World's Edge.
Her brows furrowed as white specks fall on her. It was cold. But it didn't feel bad. It piled on the ground and nestled gently onto of each other. The pure white atmosphere seemed familiar. Pure an innocent was the vibe it resembled. Her body shuddered as a vague memory of being chased runs through her body. Zurie quickly shook her head and clutched at her hair. It had begun turning a different color than grey, but it was still mostly so.
She wiped the tears forming at her eyes off before taking quicker steps into the room. The Floor crunched softly underneath her feet. It was a more soothing noise than her heart beating furiously. It doesn't take longer for her to approach the table that was shown behind the Goddess. Zurie stared at it curious and noticed the two jars. Her eyes glanced over them carefully. The two of them exuded emotions that were opposite of each other.
The blue one repulsed her immediately. She had enough of emotions that caused her misery. She took no second thought as she grabbed the Pink jar. Clutching it tightly, as if for dear life. The tag flapped against her skin, and she peaked at it slowly.
Drink Me.
She looked hesitant to. She stared at the bottle for several moments before deciding that she must. Her mouth enveloped the opening of the bottle. The contents flowed with a sweet taste down her throat. it glided down her throat with such smoothness. The liquid immediately warmed her body and soothed her. She exhibited pure exuberance. Her mouth grinned widely as the table spun quickly and now contained a delicious cake and a cookie. Seeing as she had enough cookies, her hand reached for the delectable treat.
Zurie eats the cake delicately, but quickly. The entire thing was devoured in seconds as the table spun once more. Her entire body was radiating heat and she was so euphoric she nearly passed out. This entire situation made her feel as if everything that happened was naught but a dream. A Horrible Dream.
Without hesitation she reached for the gold cup. She took a big gulp of the tea and sighed out loudly. She had to lean against the table. Her head nuzzling it with how overwhelmed she felt.

She was very young when she first started taste testing. It was a little old hobby that her father had had and it made her feel curious. She would watch from a distance as her father would eat strange an exotic foods. Each of them looked better than the last. Her mouth was nearly drooling as she stared at each food. She envied her father until eventually she got up the courage to go with him.
At first it was harder than she realized. She couldn't describe what she was tasting like her father could. She couldn't even tell the difference between sharp and mild cheddar. Her taste buds weren't as developed as they could be, her father would explain. But she would get upset and lock herself in the room wiht several ingredients. Day after day she tried to pin point difference.
Day after day she would only eat a certain type of food with a little hint of a difference. It was much harder than it looked. Her father tried to persuade her that it wasn't necessary to do all that she was doing. But she made up her mind. She continued to do this for several years. She even began making food herself so she could understand how the delicate ingredients could subtle change a food's taste or it could completely change it.
It took her several years. Several hard and long ears. She messed up more times than she could count-- but in the end she succeeded. She had refined her taste buds and was at par with her father. She was able to name every single ingredient used in each food. She was even able to say what was missing to make it taste even better.
She had made herself proud. She made her father proud. All that she gained from the hard work was worth more to her than the most materialistic items she had.
