The signature Ida could feel was weak and she knew the one who have that off must be a first level senshi... Which was exactly why she was hunting for its owner. Her patrol tonight had been mundane, thankfully, with no more trouble than a couple youma she had easily dusted. No trouble was a very good thing, both for her and for this newbie.
Pacing down the sidewalk that ran alongside the park, Ida put the lights of the city at her back and concentrated... This sure would be easier with something more finely tuned than her head. It was hard to hold that level of concentration.
The power signature wasn't far... The super senshi just needed to pinpoint it and meet the owner so she could offer her help. Hopefully whomever it was was nice enough to accept the help... She'd met a couple that had thrown the offer back in her face.

The last time Medea visited the park, a jaw-less youma stumbled upon her writing session, and now she envisioned it between the shadows of trees. She shuddered as she passed through. Would it always be like this? When did most Senshi overcome their fears? How strange all this seemed.
And so fast. She expected to breathe easy this year--a little homework, perhaps a job, daily cycling on the gym's stationary bike as she read Goethe and Austen. What now? She prioritized schoolwork, of course, but would she fall completely into a binary lifestyle: If not academics, then Senshi duties, and if not Senshi duties, then academics?
The thought made her want to curl up in bed.
Then, suddenly, she felt quite nice--calm, warm--and noticed a woman along the sidewalk ahead. She squinted. Cute outfit! she thought. Senshi outfit?
She approached the stranger, and cried, "Helloooo!"

Hearing a voice call to her, Ida lifted her head and turned to see who it was. The voice wasn't familiar to her, had she gotten lucky...? The senshi she saw was a new one to the super, but she smiled anyway and offered a wave in greeting.
"Hello! I don't think we've met before. I'm Super Sailor Ida. Are you a new senshi?" Hopefully the questions came across as friendly and not creepily over-eager. Granted, she was excited to see someone new, but she really didn't want to scare her off.
"I thought I sensed someone new around here and I just wanted to introduce myself, you know? I'm sort of working on knowing everyone by their powered names." The teen chuckled as she rocked on her heels, clasping her hands together behind back. It wasn't a lie either... She had intentionally started out that way, but as she patrolled she met more and more orders and her contact list was slowly filling up with names and numbers. A useful resource, for sure.

"I am indeed." She smiled. "I'm very new, but you seem like a well-seasoned...Super Sailor?" She wasn't sure about the title. So much of Senshi life seemed new, and on these patrols, it seemed she always learned something new!
"Will you walk with me?"
Medea felt eager for company because she feared shadows and rustling leaves, and Ida seemed incredibly confident despite potential danger. Maybe she was the most powerful Senshi? Or at least powerful enough to take on any enemy?
Medea lowered her gaze.
Or maybe she's just as scared as I am, but she's controlled enough to hide it.

Ida laughed as she shrugged, stepping over to walk at the girl's side.
"I've been around for a while, I guess, and been through... actually a lot, now that I think about it. Not all of it good... that's sort of why I wanted to meet you when I felt your signature. That probably sounds odd... What I meant is that I had to learn a lot of things the hard way, so now I've decided to start helping out new senshi and knights, like you, and maybe teach them what they need to know." She said as she shrugged modestly again. It wasn't much, probably, but she was trying and every little bit helped, right?
"When I felt you, I wanted to come and introduce myself and maybe give you my senshi number, so if you ever needed help, or just wanted to talk, or whatever, you had someone. I think... too many of us are on our own too much, and it can be really dangerous to be caught out by yourself." Granted, she did that a lot too, but she was stronger now and had back up if she needed it. People like this girl... might not have that.

"Ida, you're so kind!" Medea laughed. "Thank you for coming up to me. I would love if you could teach me the Senshi way, so far, it seems like a lot of fighting? But maybe there's spirituality too? Does that seem right?"
Ida seemed so bright and free and knowledgeable, and Medea imagined herself as a Super Senshi along her side, punching the guts of youma, casting magical spells and zipping across rooftops. What a life!
"So far the Senshi have been extremely kind! They even saved me when I first awakened, I guess? Is it our duty to protect and guide each other or was that just rare?"
She hoped not. She always welcomed new and magical friends!

Her enthusiasm and sweet nature was refreshing. Not everyone was like that, even on their side.
"Well, a lot of the basic information is on your phone. You push this little button and it brings up a database that other senshi have put together. It doesn't have everything, of course, but it helps." She said as she pulled out her phone and showed her the little button. "This button here lets you go to the planet that shares your name. I sort of get this feeling that we're all reincarnations of people who used to live on our planets... That might be odd for some people, but I grew up Hindu, so its sort of fits. I get visions sometimes, weird little memories of things and places when I'm there."
She shrugged as she tucked her phone away, pondering what to say to her other questions. "I want to say its not all about fighting, but... whatever our purpose is, we're more powerful than normal people and I personal want to protect those people from the Negaverse and the Dark Mirror Court. I don't know if that makes it our duty or what, but that's just the way I feel about it... I wouldn't be able to live with myself if my family or friends got hurt because I wasn't there to protect them." She knew what that felt like and she never wanted to feel it again. It was just too awful.
"The guardian cats say its our duty, but... everyone seems to have their own opinion and way of doing things, and there really isn't any central leader to tell you what to do. If you wanted to power down and never transform again, well... no one would be there to stop you. As for helping each other out, well... no one says you have to do that either, but we're all sort of on the same side, you know?" Ida shrugged as she scuffed her shoe against the ground as she walked, trying to feel her way through this little speech she seemed to be giving.
"I always felt like we should, but that's because I want to help the people who are fighting evil and protecting people. Finding people who mentor new people, though... that's pretty rare. You're sort of lucky if you run into someone who's willing to show you things, but there isn't any, like... real effort to help out the newly awakened. That's what my team is trying to do, though there are only four of us right now."

Reincarnations? Past lives? There seemed so much to learn! Maybe Ida once lived as an orator or magician or carpenter. The possibilities seemed infinite--even if there seemed no way of proving it...and these memories. How fascinating it would be to step into an abandoned room and recall the faces of those who lived there. Medea thought Ida incredibly lucky.
"What do you see?" she asked. "Will I get visions too?"
Why didn't the newscast seek out Senshi like Ida? She almost spoke the pitches of the interviewed Negaverse agents verbatim. Maybe the factions didn't oppose as much as expected?
Medea loved mentors! She already had Acubens and Cybele, but the more she learned from seasoned warriors, the closer she felt to mastery. Besides, Ida seemed extremely nice, and her appreciation of life made her most admirable.
"Will your team train me in the Senshi ways" she asked. "Please? I really have to learn!"

Ida chuckled as she shrugged, thinking back to the few times she had visited her homeworld.
"It wasn't so much at first... sort of vague feelings and sometimes little snippets of memory or deja vu... but they're getting clearer for me now. I think it might have something to do with experience or the upgrade in power level, but I'm not sure. I'm sure you'll get them too if you ever visit your world. I just... get a feeling, when I'm in a room. Like, you know the way you feel in your beedroom? Like it's my place, its familiar, but I haven't been there in a very long time. Sort of happy and sad and homesick all at once, you know?" It was sort of hard to describe the feeling, but it was recognizable when you felt it. This girl would feel it for herself, hopefully.
"Um... as far as training you, if you want to, then certainly! Between the four of us, we've met and battled a lot of Negaverse agents and Dark Mirror senshi. We've also been through some hard times and survived them, so the others in particular have a lot of good advice. They're all eternal level though, I'm the newest and the weakest... but I'm getting there, I think. Someday." She offered a smile as her step lightened, bouncing a little.
"So... have you figured out your magic yet? Like... what it does and what it's limits are? That was always my first thing, learning that sort of stuff. I figured, you don't want to be caught with your magic all used up unless you were ready for it."

Wow! Ida experienced memories from another lifetime? She seemed like a guru of Senshi magic. Believing her the weakest and newest of her team seemed almost impossible--Ida was the strongest Senshi she had ever met. Perhaps Ida just acted humble, so she wouldn't intimidate her? Possible, or that meant there existed more powerful Senshi.
But who could be more powerful than Ida?
"Hopefully you grow closer to your past and discover more about what happened. Then things should grow clearer, right?"
Medea scratched the back of her head. "Ummmm yesss? I think. I'm trying not to use it unless I have to, though. Basically I can make people stare at things..." She smiled. "What about you? You're super-pretty, so I bet you have an attack to match, right? Is it purple too?"

Ida chuckled as she thought about it, rolling her shoulders in a shrug.
"My attack is orchid based, of course... I dunno how pretty it is. It -is- purple though." She giggled, trying to calm the blush that rose to her cheeks at being called pretty. She never thought of herself that way, having someone else say it was embarrassing, to say the least. But Medea was just trying to be nice, it was a sweet thing to say.
"Its a good thing to know what your attack can do and what its limits are... you never know when you'll end up in a situation where its important to know how many times you can use it and how far it reaches. That's happened to me before and its really useful to know that before hand." The super senshi gestured with a hand as she talked and walked, trying to illustrate her point. "If there are three opponents, I need to know if I can hit them... I know I can only use my attack twice, because the second time I'm so tired I almost pass out. That's not a good way to be with bad guys trying to beat you up. And I know it only reaches about five feet, so it won't do anything if I don't get close enough. Here... let me show you."
Feeling the need to really emphasize what she was talking about, the senshi turned in a direction that was free of obstacles and called up her power.
"Beautiful Petal Barrage!" She yelled as she swept her arm in front of her, leaving a trail of glowing petals in its wake. They shifted, changing shape as they slimmed into little glowing needles, spraying forward as the magic sent them flying. They seemed to fizzle out when they hit the limit of their range, disappearing when they didn't find anything to hit.
"It also isn't good for accuracy... I have to be careful who's in front of me or I might accidentally hit someone I didn't mean to." She said softly as she turned back.

"Ida, the name even has beautiful in it!" Medea laughed and gestured in the direction of the fizzling petals. "A beautiful attack for a beautiful Senshi!"
Ida could teach her elegance and grace and poise in battle, and she seemed so knowledgeable about combat and magic, Perhaps they could spar sometime, though Medea feared she would leave with tiny scars from the needles, and well, Ida seemed much stronger. At most, Medea could distract her and then land a few blows here and there, but it wouldn't amount to much, would it?
She shuddered at the thought of encountering a powerful enemy. If she could barely survive a spar with her mentor, how would she fare against someone who aimed to kill?
"Do you really think you'll have to use it twice?" Medea passed behind Ida to her other side. "I mean, it seemed like one shot would do plenty of damage."

The teen blushed at the compliment, tugging her skirt straight to cover her embarrassment. The attack was pretty, but she could hardly compare her own looks to something made by magic. The other girl was probably just being nice, which was sweet in its own way. Aventine was like that too, freely tossing out compliments no matter how untrue they might be. Medea reminded her a lot of the older girl, though her personality was not quite as loud and bold as her red-headed friend.
"I've used my attack twice before and then had to resort to my fists and feet to finish the job. Youma come in all sorts of strengths and the negaverse officers are, if anything, physically stronger than we are, which is a lot more than their youma. And if you have to face multiple enemies, well... sometimes two isn't that much." She said, turning to watch the other girl circle her. Walking backwards, she shrugged gently, her hands clasped behind her back again in a familiar pose.
"In the end, it comes down to who can out-think who, really. Its always best to think things through before jumping into them and even better if you can avoid a fight entirely. Though, I wouldn't never run away and leave someone to face chaos alone..." She instinctively rejected that thought as not even worth thinking about. It just wasn't in her nature to do that, even if it cost her her own life.

"I'm a strong thinker!" She nodded. "I train for tactics all the time with giant marathons of Tetris. That's how the pro gamers exercise their skills. " Ida seemed so knowledgeable. She wondered if someday she would seem as poised, but she knew her attacks would never purple or dazzle like hers. No, it seemed too useful, and Medea did not feel like a useful person.
Not yet. At least.
She nodded.
"I won't abandon you Ida! I promise." She laughed and hugged her new friend. "I'll always be there for you, okay?"
She meant it, but the reality of war escaped her. She was weak. Flighty. Idealistic.

Tetris? It wasn't something Ida would have normally thought of to teach strategy, but what did she know? It might work... She certainly wasn't a gamer so she really had no way to say either way.
The hug took her by surprise though, and she blushed as she smiled brightly, tentatively hugging the girl back. A laugh broke from her when she released the other senshi and Ida found herself glad she had found her so early.
"I'm really glad to hear you say that. And I will always be here for you, no matter when or where or what's happening. If you ever need me, all you have to do is call me." She said as she grasped her hands, her face and voice a bit more serious than seemed normal for her. "If you ever feel like you're in over your head, don't even hesitate!"
A smile spread over the super's face and she shrugged as she gently let go. "And if you ever want to train or learn something, let me know! I'm here to help out all the newbies and make sure everyone has a strong base to start from."
