Mei shook her head softly wondering what she was going to do after task list was done for the day. Right now her beloved bonded Xela was out in the greater plains for a run with Cookie. The pair of them made Mei chuckle. They were so cute and good to one another. She shifted the sack of grain on Coyota’s back. “Thank you again for helping me with all this Coy. It means a lot to me and to Lady Dea’s herd.” The male just nodded his head in response which made Mei chuckle. Coyota was quiter than his sister Cinimon. Though with a sister like that maybe silence was for the best because she could talk enough for three Azrein. That and with Xela and Cookie for mothers Coyota had taken on a strange place as confidant and dutiful son. Mei noticed his tail was tangled again. She sighed vowing to brush it out later. It always amazed her that he had been born with two thicknesses of hair for his tail. It was very pretty, but tangled like there was no tomorrow.

Verelyn was farther north than she normally ventured, but she wasn't having much luck with the shoreline and decided all the rich people must be up north. Her journal had been long and so far boring, but she noticed a brown splotch ahead of her. She mentally smiled and thought Bingo as she trotted to get ahead of the pair. Once she was far enough ahead of them, she stopped right in the middle of the road. Her bandanna kept the hair out of her face as it flowed behind her in the slight wind. She hoped she looked imposing as she shifted her feet so that her straps moved so that she might be able to grab her sword with her teeth. It was times like these that she wished she had a human counterpart to be able to use the weapons more efficiently than herself, but even so, she was fine on her own. "What's in the sack?" She inquired as soon as they got within hearing range.

Mei was surprised to see another azrein on the road. Still she was far up north and on her way back from visiting Reoakee in Forlu so it wasn’t like there was too much danger. “Just some grain and a few herbs and tinctures.” Mei answered brightly and happily. She was nudged softly by Coyota and looked at him curiously.

Coyota looked at the mare’s more aggressive stance and reviewed the question she asked. “Mei I really wouldn’t say anymore I do believe this lovely lady means to rob us.” He could almost hear the gears clicking in Mei’s mind as she stood straight up looked at the other azrein and shook her head not believing.

“Coy don’t be silly. Why would anyone rob us?”
She shook her head and put her hands on her hips not even trying to hide the small coin pouch she kept tied there. Honestly Coyota was sweet but unrealistic sometimes.

Vere arched an eyebrow at the azrein, he needed to get his human in line didn't he? But the human's naivity might just earn Vere some gold this time around. "You have any gold on you?" She asked, keeping her tone flat. Her little bags on her back leg were feeling kind of light, and she needed to weigh them down again with lots of shiney things. The stallion didn't seem like much of a contest with all his fluffy hair, with luck, she might actually get something this time!

Mei might not be the most suspicious girl in the world but Coyota’s comments followed right up by that question was enough to make her connect the dots. Eyes wide she looked at the mare. “Surely you’re joking right. I do have some gold but..” How could she say it without being rude. Her hands gestured in the air for a moment. “how do you get them in the bags?” Wouldn’t it be a pain and there was no way most people would just put their gold in the hands of a brigand.

Coyota sighed loudly. His mother’s bonded was a fool. Never admit to gold in front of a theif and certainly don’t ask about the process of being mugged. “You know I could just tackle her and you could flee Mei.” He said it loudly hoping he looked more menacing than he really was.

Verelyn eyed the pair of them. "I have my ways." She said simply, eyeing the male. He seemed to be trying to beef himself up, but Vere thought he looked like an azrein that likes having little children braid flowers into his hair. "I'll let you go on one condition." Her eyes flicked between the two of them, letting her words hang in the air for dramatic effect. "The Azrein comes with me." Sure he looked somewhat useless, but he was pretty to look at. Shiney in his own way.

“Deal.” It was Coyota who spoke right over Mei’s start of a protest. Mei gasped and looked at him very worried. If this really was a road theif then there was no telling what would happen to him and Xela would be crushed if anything happened to Coy or Cinnamon. “Coyota.” Mei was clearly worried and tugged on his mane lightly she could send a mental message to Xela and while it might take a while for her bonded to arrive, but few things would really stop a mother from protecting her young.

“Mei don’t look at me like that. I’ll be fine. Just push off the supplies we have right now and have mother come and pick you up.” He knew that Mei didn’t like conflict and feared for him considering what had happened to her employer lady Dea. “I’ll be just fine. In fact if our captive will allow it.” He looked at the mare expectantly. “In a month’s time I’ll leave word with another azerin in the city that I’m fine. I’ll have them stop by Lady Dea’s and leave the message there. If that happens you have to promise not to come after me at all though.” He eyed the mare still wondering how smart she was. He was making sure Mei could leave unharmed with all the supplies in exchange he would go with her and even proposed a way so that she wouldn’t likely get hunted. It was a huge win for the thief he figured well except for the loss of supplies but what would she need such things for anyway? Getting at least something for free was better than a lot and being hunted wasn’t it? Besides Coyota would lay down his life before letting his family which included his mother’s bonded be hurt.

Verelyn surpressed the glee that came with her winning of a prize. Because the azrein, Coyota, certainly was a prize. His fluffy fluffy hair and interesting lighter spots made him interesting to Vere in a way that different shiney's were interesting in their own way. She was very pleased that she had gotten her way one way or the other. But what she couldn't understand, was the extra precautions the stallion seemed to be taken on her behalf. Vere should have taken that as a compliment to him believing she was actually dangerous, but the heart she wished she could get rid of felt sadness. She quickly stomped that from her mind though as she took a few steps back to see if the stallion was true in his word to go with her.

Coyota took a few steps after the mare after Mei had moved the supplies off his back. He looked at the girl with a smile. “Hey now none of that face. You’ll be fine and remember you get word about me later so you know I’ll be fine.” He took more steps to follow the mare. He knew his mothers would not be happy with his decision but he also knew this was the safest route for all involved. A part of him almost felt bad for the thief. She really didn’t seem to know how to pick a target. He heard Mei shuffling behind him. “Well now, Miss Saber thief shall we be off.” The less time the thief was around the better it would be for Mei so that meant he had to leave too.

Mei was clutching her sack starring at Coyota’s form as he was ready to just walk off with the other azerin. Her ears twitched. The other azerin didn’t look bad at all but Coy was being so careful and of course there was no way he was going to listen to her if she told him to stay. Mei was relaying the scene to Xela as fast as she could and she felt her bonded’s worry. “You mother says to stay safe and if you die she’ll hunt down and trample the thief into the ground. Other than that she’s um…” Mei blushed. “she’s being very lazie fair and says have a good time.” She couldn’t believe Xela would say that but her bonded was not being very helpful and was clearly trying to cheer Mei up and keep her from doing something foolish. They both knew it and the comment did make Coyota laugh.
