Task One_____

He was given a bag but nothing was in it. The Goddess said it was a gift to him but ...

As she explained an understanding dawned upon him; this was totally on purpose even though she insisted that it was an error. This wasn't just a 'here is your gift now go on your way', he had to earn his gift from the Goddess. Tiletk had to go forward and face a challenge and he was all too willing to do so. He loved challenges.

..I thrive on a challenge...

Tiletk picked more impossible tasks than this one in his moment to moment battlefield fights. He even lost once. He knew what defeat was, but he also knew the taste of victory. Tiletk thrived out there on the field where nothing could hurt him - nothing could bring him down.

He could find what he was looking for out there. The shadow was sure of it. Each time he achieved something he gained more form more power.

More.

Tiletk wanted to be more. To have power to protect those that mattered to him. That was what he was looking for or at least part of it. These feelings rose up inside his blue core of a heart each moment that passed - each hour that ticked by only made the feeling grow stronger.

...I am not sure I can take care of her the way she deserves to be...

The thought brushed over his mind but not acknowledged. He was used to these floating feelings and thoughts and weren't often considered to be his own anymore they felt alien (denial...). He simply moved about to get to the task.

...What will I do after...

Tiletk set his expression to a frighteningly grim one. "Shut up. I am not that lost."

...Lost...I am ...lost...

His core pulsated quicker and quicker as his fingertips grasped worked open the door with branch-like design and then slipped through.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 12, 2013 1:10 pm

The pulsing of his core stuttered to a second's worth of a pause as he heard someone whispering something within the room. "...Hello?" No answer other than that whispering. It made no sense and he couldn't seem to figure out what it meant, it was as if it was apart of some alien language but it is just one word. One name. A name? Was it a name? Tiletk could barely tell anymore. It lost any meaning it might have had each time it repeated.

The shadow moved further inward as the pulsing of his core resumed (was it his core? there was a dreadful thud) and as he did so the door shut behind him. Dark. It was dark in here. He hated the dark when he was alone. Tiletk could never shake the feeling that there should have been someone by his side, always. Someone that was part of him but not and yet ...

Perhaps he was just imagining it (boil you are knee deep in the river of denial).

He was moving forward and the surroundings seemed to move with him though he wasn't sure how he could tell, it just seemed that way because he didn't bump anything at least not until he stumbled into it. It was large, a crate it seemed. He could barely make it out in the darkness; he pawed about blindly in the dark and found that there was no real way around it.

The thud sound was becoming maddening and right as he was about to retreat he had noticed that the crate was opened and there just a faint outline of red. Tiletk's eyes had adjusted to the surroundings he was in but he wasn't sure if that was a blessing or a curse, considering what he thought he was seeing as he got closer. Was that an arm?

It swayed back and forth; it was almost as if it was inviting him to touch it and so he did.

The abrupt stop of sound made him believe he had gone deaf. Silence was almost louder than sound itself in this moment. Quietly he sang to himself to keep his own sanity as his hands touched along the arm feeling the texture of it and the way his hand felt and ...

Thumping of a heart.

He didn't wait. His bag was empty. The Goddess was waiting and she had waited long enough.

Scissors bit in and he worked at the viscera. He felt he may as well have been blind as hard as he worked but he didn't stop. He needed that heart. The thing seemed to awaken for a second clawing at him and screaming at him. Something about KAJIKA.

What is Kajika? It seemed unimportant just then. Especially since whatever that was now silent and still. Leaving him to work. Feverishly he continued to cut. The Goddess waits.

Seemingly unimportant or not it triggered something. Kajika. It had a meaning behind it. A smirking face sneering at him from above, childish but much older, taunting him and holding something over his head to where he couldn't reach.

'Nah. Nah. It's mine now Kajika!' The older boy laughed.

'Give it back Hania! You said you only wanted to look at it and you did!' Kajika pouted as he reached for the figurine sent to him by a close friend.

Hania just laughed as he held it up, 'Yeah I looked at it and now it is in my hands and it is mine! My gift from Lark! Lark is my best mate now,' he grinned maliciously. 'Did you even tell her your real name yet? Does she still call you Kettil? Hahahaha, chicken. If she's your best mate then you'd...HEY.'

Kajika leapt and swatted to try and get it. The figurine fell and shattered, the small boil stared up at the older and bigger boil with venom in his eyes. 'Yeah well your other name is really stupid. Onyx. What kind of dumb name was that?!' Petulant and close to tears, Kajika refused to cry in front of his tormentor as he turned and ran. Hania just laughed at the retreating form.

Thump-thump.

His cutting had become violent and angry. Blood. Tissue. It was a mess, he didn't do a clean job of it but eventually he had it and it stopped beating once it was in his hands.

A face appeared over him as he lay in his crib, minding his own business. The face of ['HANIA, BE KIND TO THE BABY, DON'T HOLD HIM LIKE THAT'] the older boy sneered down at him before it reached down and grabbed the pacifier out of the small babe's mouth and ran off with it leaving the small infant Kajika there to wail helplessly...

A strange sense of satisfaction wove through him. Tiletk put it in the bag.

He'd moved on, heart secure in his bag. It was obviously what the Goddess wanted and he had needed it. It seemed like something he needed to look for. The change of the ground was unnerving but it was nothing that he couldn't handle. Tiletk reached a dead end and he took a moment to ponder what to do next, there was noise behind him but there was nothing when he turned to look and if there was nothing then that was he could do about it.

It was probably his imagination.

Please give it back.

He turned there was still nothing, with a nervous shrug he moved forward once he was able to orient himself again. The water (water...? When...) he'd been wading in was rising and now up to his neck, it was unnerving to say the least.

Please give me back my...

Tiletk's nose and mouth filled with water and he struggled hard. Pushing, clawing, shoving, a shout passed his lips only to come up in a series of helpless bubbles. His eyes stared up at dark gray eyes that stared at him glassily; sunken teeth gnashing at him as if to sink into him at any moment.

It wanted its heart back.

Hania. Brother. Worst brother ever. He never let him be, teased him about everything and anything. Betrayed him, broke promises, played horrible hurtful tricks, stole things from him and that wasn't even all of it.

Tiletk clawed desperately up at the phantom with his hands. Something he had to ...

Hania leaned in the doorframe to Kajika's room with his arms crossed over his chest, 'What are you doing? Writing Piper a letter?'

'None of your business,' He spat out at his older sibling.

He let out a small 'tch' as he wandered over and leaned over Kajika's shoulder, 'Ain't like she's worth writin' to anyways. She's a snot like you.'

Kajika's eyebrow twitched, 'Y'don't talk about family like that. You're just pissed cause she gets the better of you every time you try to make fun of her.'

'Does not. Why do I care what a flat chested little s**t thinks...? Now Lena. She's got so--..'

Suddenly Kajika was up and Hania was on the ground holding a hand over his bloodied nose. Before the older boil knew what was happening Kajika had punched him in the face.

'JUST SHUT UP ABOUT LENA. SHUT UP ABOUT PIPER. I don't give a damn about Lena anymore. Do whatever you want with her. You leave Piper alone if you aren't gonna treat her like family. You leave Lar alone too. In fact? Don't screw with any of my friends anymore.'

Pride wounded, Hania picked himself up, 'What the hell ever. I'm done with Lena now anyways..' he sounded as if he had a bad cold as he spoke. He hurried out of the room for now as he heard the stomping footsteps of their father.

Honon peeked into the room of his youngest son seconds after Hania retreated, 'The hell is going on here?' he demanded.

Kajika rubbed his sore knuckles with a small smile, 'Nothin'. I handled it...'

Several days later, Hania burned the letters Kajika got from Piper and Lark. Hania presented the ashes his younger brother in a box with a bow on top complete with a small note.

In his panic he had forgotten about the scissors. In his anger? He remembered them. Tiletk (Or am I Kajika? Kettil? I don't know anymore...) felt the weight of them jumbling about in the bag where he had tucked them along with the heart. Was it a good idea? He was not certain but he didn't want to lose them either just in case.

(I want to live. I want to breathe. Let me go.)

With a lot of struggling he freed the scissors from the bag.

(I need to live. I need the blessings. I need the Goddesses. They will help me find what I am looking for. I misplaced it but where...? Hania why...I...Who...)

Under water it felt like his limbs moved in tediously slow motion as he plunged the scissors into the phantom's neck. If he became a Goddess himself then he'd return for Hania and show him the full extent of his loathing.

A shriek and then they are gone. Tiletk coughed up water and sputtered, surprised and confused that suddenly there was no water anywhere around him. He picked himself up and started forward again (I need to leave, the Goddess waits).

He thought he saw the damned figure again, staring at him as he left. Tiletk caught a glimpse of it over his shoulder. Staring at him and holding onto his scissors.

(Same old Hania. Plotting to get me back... )

Task Two_____

Tiletk drew himself back up to his feet feeling strange and disoriented as his limbs stretched up above his head and eventually he arched over to release tension in his back. When had he fallen asleep? He didn't recall anymore and the metal table was certainly uncomfortable. His eyes squinted in the stark lighting as he attempted to get an idea of surroundings but the fact sadly remained that he was in a strange place.

Not on the battlefield that he'd grown used to.

Not hanging out somewhere and relaxing.

This was the furthest thing from relaxed. Tiletk forced himself to move forward to face uncertainty. This was a challenge. A new task. He had to face it. The Goddess had put her faith in him.

He had to put his faith in her.

Tiletk forced himself to breathe deeply as he reached out toward the door he'd come to (It should be unlocked, not even prisons are this boring). Fingertips caressed the metal of the doorknob and turned it until it eventually turned and opened the door.

The next area was less than thrilling.

The hallway stretched as he walked through it, he tried not to feel the desolation as he walked.

Thud.

On his heel he turned to look only to find the open door he'd neglected to close, strange but not frightening. He moved forward.

Thud.

This time he turned around there was someone there. Suddenly he felt as if his chest was about to burst in fright. The steady movement of the figures onward motion was enough to start him sprinting forward until he reached a locked door.

"PASSCODE REQUIRED?! WHAT THE HELL!?"

He ignored the call for a passcode for now as he ran forward and slammed bodily against the door. The figure kept moving forward with a steady plod.

Soon.

Tiletk let out a frustrated sound.

Panic. So much panic.

He felt like he was going to explode.

Tiletk's eyes flicked around here, there, everywhere. Maybe if he...

Maybe...

Images blurred as sweat and tears fell into his eyes. It stung, everything stung.

'Bees don't sting you if you knock down their hive! Just throw the rock, here!' Hania offered Kajika a small rock with a confident grin.

Kajika seemed doubtful but he could trust his brother. Hania often played tricks but he was totally being serious about this, right? With all his might the small boil threw the rock and hit the stem of the hive. Bees angrily buzzed up from the wreckage of the hive and all Kajika could do was stare in horror. Soon the small boil's eyes flicked toward where Hania once stood, seeking guidance.

He found that the older boil was gone. Vanished without a trace.

A couple of bees had gotten to him at this point and started to sting, that was when Kajika ran to try and get to safety.

Hania grinned from his hidden perch, "RUN FAST LITTLE BOIL."

'RuUuunnNNnn fasssSsstTtt....LliiiiIiiiIIIIIitttTTTlleeeEE BOoooIIillll....' it hissed as it drew closer. The voice was strange and distorted. Tiletk didn't want to hear anymore...

"Nononono. It can't end like this. I refuse to let it end like this," He hissed out as he pushed at the door.

THUD. SCREECH.

He started to move and try to find other options. He found a slip of paper.

It meant nothing to him.

A=0, B=1, C=2.

Closer it came.

He slammed his hands against the door. Why did nothing make sense and why didn't it want to open.

Passcode?! WHAT DAMNED PASSCODE.

Eventually he found another slip of paper.

A C E G

There was a second of perplexed thought before he managed to put it together. Passcode. It was the damned passcode.

0, 2, 4, 5

His fingers shakily put in the numbers and he sprinted out the door as fast as he could. Tiletk wanted to get out of here so badly.

There was something bothering him at the back of his mind but he didn't ponder what it was too deeply...

'It only hurts once...'

He'd been running for so fast and so hard that by the time he'd gotten to bridge it had almost been a relief. Almost.

Tiletk felt the bridge move under him and the wind causing it to sway knocked his balance totally out of whack, the dagger he'd strapped to his belt fell down into the seemingly fathomless abyss below him - or at least he thought it was the dagger.

Despair rolled through him and it only got worse as the figure got close. Hungry for his heart.

Tiletk spat out harshly, 'Leave me the ******** alone. I just want...' the snipping got closer and he tried to move and eventually it was upon him before he could say or do anything more.

It didn't hurt once. It hurt a lot more than just once. At least for Tiletk.

He wanted glory. He wanted to be the one that killed before he was killed but...

No, it didn't hurt only once...

Task Three_____

Tiletk sat at the table with an air of awkwardness that one might expect from an older brother humoring a younger sister's desire for a tea party. He was not sure about these dainty little cups and things that were set before him.

'Okay, Kajika, You sit here and Endzela sits there and...'

He gazed at the Goddess of Longing. This one was his favorite among the three - she was inviting and cheerful and carried the colors of his core. Of the Goddesses, yes, he loved her most. Whatever love was. Tiletk had taken a cookie from her platter but hadn't eaten it, simply held onto it as if it was too precious of a gift to just devour.

There was a selection before him and it made him a little shy at first. He could have any of these? At least try them? Could he try them all?

'No! Don't drink it all Kajika! That's rude to the hostess and it fills your cup with too many flavors and..'

Tiletk uttered a quiet sound before he reached out for the pink jar. It was such odd color with strange connotations but he couldn't quite figure out where he got that ideal from.

'You're going to have another little Sister, Kajika, isn't that exciting!?'

Quietly he took a drink from the pink jar and felt a warm fuzzy feeling, lightheaded but ... peaceful. He liked it even as everything began to spin within his vision. It was fun it was...

His eyes focused on the cookies with some trouble before he took one and began to eat it some of the edge was taken off of the lightheaded feeling he was having. Still more options. He was not yet done. Reaching out he took the pink tea cup with a small quiet smile.
