Liira couldn't have been more excited when the horns started to blare from the stadium. She had all but raced from her stall, slapping an "out to fight" sign on the post and dragging all of the furs down from their spots.
She eyed her opponent; it was this strange looking boy about her age. Looked like a wimp. She held her bow tight and dragged an arrow out of its sheath. This would be easy.

Tau couldn't believe his eyes. This girl was the size of his kid brother almost. Man, this was going to be a piece of cake. How lucky was he to be seeded in his first match? No doubt he would just blow through this battle, the girl would want to fall into his arms afterward, and he could go on to the next round.
He tightened his grip on his spear and smirked. "Hey, maybe we can... get to know each other better after the match is over." He winked in her direction, his cheesy grin growing bigger.

Tau gripped his spear in his hands, preparing for the attack. Now that the pleasantries were over, her could get to business and get this over with quick.
He lunged forward with as much speed as he could muster and brought his spear down over his head diagonally, aiming for her side. She was a woman after all, so the face was clear out.

Liira scoffed at her opponent's lame attempts to pick her up on the battle field. This wasn't a bar, and she sure as hell wasn't interested. "Keep it to yourself, a** Hat." Liira wasn't ready to make this an easy match for him and with this idiot as her opponent, she wouldn't have much to worry about.
Liira quickly tucked and rolled out of the way of the spear attack coming her way and pulled her bow taught, releasing before she had even reached both of her feet. If there was one thing she knew well, it was her bow. Her face was already taking on the look of fierce intent that she usually got when hunting. Tau was practically her prey at this point and he had better watch out.

Tau took the arrow with a kind of grace only suited for himself. He couldn't believe that he had missed, holding his spear in place like an idiot before realizing where the girl had went. Damn, she was so small, she just slipped right through his fingers.
He turned to face her just as the arrow was coming towards him, skimming his cheek and adding some pain ready to bloom into a bruise. He wiped at his face, wincing when he hit the "wound". "That's alright, I like it rough." He grinned a goofy grin and swung his spear back at the girl again.

This idiot was slower than she could have imagined. She watched as he stupidly stood there, not prepared for any sort of counter attack. What did her expect? For her to just stay still while he swung something at her. Fat change.
She dodged another attack with ease and loosed another arrow at his goofy face. Maybe if she hit him enough she could shut him up, or at least bruise his jaw so he couldn't move it.
"Maybe you should spend more time actually fighting and less time being... all of this." She gestured to his entirety.

Tau opened his mouth and closed it abruptly. What did she mean by all of this? This wasn't working for her? Meh, must be another one playing on the wrong team for his charm to not work, even in the ring. "If you didn't like men, you could have just said so."
He swung his spear once more, but her arrow struck his jaw mid-attack, giving him the grace and force of a spitorog as his body contorted from the force of the spear dragging him forward and the force of the arrow driving his head back.

Liira could only gawk at the stupidity she was witnessing in front of her. But she gawked just a little too long. Tau's spear actually was able to reach her, even with his horrid positioning and swiped her leg. "Damn, that smarts." Liira jumped back and loosed another arrow at Tau, but this one was weak and distracted, thanks to her slightly bleeding leg.
But the arrow was accurate. Tau would have a hard time getting away from this one.

Tau wobbled in place from his actual hit to Liira and the next arrow to hit him. This time it wasn't actually pointed at his face, thankfully. It nailed him in the chest, but with the blunted off arrows and her lack of anger in this one, it was a pretty soft hit in all honesty.
She was falling for him.
There wasn't any way around it. He sighed. He knew this would happen. "I would understand if you wanted to call it quits and head back to my place to nurse me back to health. I can see it in your eyes already."
He threw his body forward for another spear attack, thinking that she probably wasn't going to want to quit the fight early, least she give away her longing for him.

Liira couldn't believe what she was seeing. This bumbling dope in front of her had absolutely no defensive strategy. What did he think he could just charge his way through battle? Liira could see how that was working for him so far.
Now she couldn't believe what she was hearing. What a dolt. A boob. A ******** idiot. It was just infuriating her. His attitude had her wanting to beat him into the ground, he was so incredibly moronic. She was so caught up in his words she didn't expect his next attack. She jumped back and hopefully out of the way, but the blunt side of his spear caught her in the side, knocking the wind out of her and had her coughing relentlessly to get her breath back. Son. Of. A. b***h.
Liira was so infuriated, she was about to show this poor b*****d what was what. "Just keep talking, a** Hat. I'm gonna beat your ugly face in."

Tau sighed in an exaggerated manner. She was in denial. "We both know your feelings for me. Don't bother denying. Why else would the sheer mention of us fluster you so?" He held an arm up as if he was serenading her with his words. He batted his eyelids at her and blew her a kiss before picking up his spear once more and sliding it through the air.
All of this swinging was taking it's toll on Tau, but he would have to get used to it if he was going to continue in the battles to come.

That's it. Liira had had it. She whipped an arrow out of her quiver and launched it at Tau with such a deadly accuracy and force that she was sure this would be the attack that would decide the match. "Suck on it."
She just couldn't stand this guy anymore. She would be happy if she never saw his idiotic mug again.

Tau had pushed too far. He sort of figured it out as an arrow came blazing so fast and hard through the air he swore it was screaming as it closed the distance between them. Wait, that was him screaming.
While Liira was letting loose an arrow of fury, Tau was busy letting loose his screech of terror. s**t. It stuck him solidly in the forehead, knocking his headdress off and launching him into the dirt of the arena. It was a good thing for him that the arrows were all blunted off or he might actually have not made it out of this thing alive. He was sprawled out on the ground, moaning in pain and rolling onto his sides.

Liira only scoffed. "Pansy." She shrugged her quiver further up her shoulder and hung her bow behind her in its place. "Next time, try not being such an idiot. You might get farther." She walked up to him and grimaced at the pathetic sack that was Tau after the fight.
