Kaalnia walked into the ring practically vibrating with energy.
"Wooo, yeah!" she shouted, pumping her spear into the air, "All right! Lets get this started, Yeah!" she waved at the crowd feeling her face flush.
Oh my gosh, so many people, and more than half were women. Aww yes, her lucky day, this was going to be so awesome! She couldn't surpress a little dance, and was flattered by the cheer. She was convinced they were cheering for her.
Something suddenly occurred to her.
She looked around the Arena.
"Heeeeey, where's my opponent?" she called out, hopping from one foot to another, "C'mon, c'mon, c'mon...!"

Ruelash stalked onto the arena, growling to himself. Stupid whiny blueskins at their stupid crappy stalls with their stupid wares. He hated them. He hated everything. Grr, grr, grr.
He took his place in his arena and stood there for a moment, fuming, before he noticed his opponent.
He stopped cold in his thoughts, blinking. Whoa s**t. Alkidikes were tall. He grumbled something about how he already knew that.
But she was a woman, and women required certain courtesies that he just couldn't help. He drew his dagger and, in probably the most insincere tone ever, muttered
"Sorry."

Kaalnia laughed joyfully.
"Hey, man, not a problem!" she was just glad he was there in the first place, whoever the hell he was. Oh, he sure was funny looking! He was a really dark blue, and that was awesome. shame he was a guy though!
Hey, c'mon, lets start the fight!" she said, charging forward with a whoop. She was surprised with how precise the strike felt and the surety she felt it. Was this that warrior's focus she had heard so much about? either way, she liked it!

Ruelash wanted to get one thing straight: He had LET her go first. You don't strike the first strike on a lady, that wasn't right. If they attacked, though, then they were fair game like any other man.
Truth was, though, he had been surprised by her charge. It had looked like that damn blade was going right for his heart. Adrenaline raced through his system and time seemed to slow for a moment.
And then he made the best move he had ever made in his life.
He dodged, spinning around to slash her with his dagger, moving with some lovely footwork to end up right behind her. He pivoted to face her, a wild grin on his face. His nerves were singing and he had a feeling that this would be one fun fight. It would more than make up for those shithead women at the stands!

Whoaaaa, that was awesome. Kaalnia grinned with delight. It would be a mirror of Ruelash's grin, except for the malice that shone in his eyes. Kaalnia wasn't malicious. She was just having fun!
"Wooop!" she exclaimed, feinting at him before sweeping the spear haft at his legs...

RUELASH TRIPS. HE CANNOT ATTACK THIS TURN.
Ruelash's heart raced as he saw her come towards him again with her spear. His tensed muscles released like a bow and he began another truly impressive dodge. He was midair when her spear haft knocked the wind out of him and he fell onto the ground.
"Auuugh, you b***h!" he snarled, but he wasn't actually upset. Oh no, things had only gotten more interesting.

Ruelash gasped for air and then howled again in pain and rage, slashing out wildly at Kaalnia with his dagger as he scrambled to his feet.
His eyes were wild and he was breathing heavily. One hand clasped the bleeding wound, the other gripped the dagger so tightly that his knuckles were a lighter blue.
"You'll... Auuugrgh..." he could barely get a coherent sentence out. His mind was at full primal alert and was focusing on three things: Attack, Dodge, Survive.
It was Fight or flight for him now, and he had never been one to flee.

Kaalnia felt the burning slash along her calf and, in purely reactive pain, lashed out with her spear when he stood up.

"Hey, bro, you okay?" she asked, wary and concerned, lowering her spear a little, "You don't look so good..."

Ruelash leapt to the side, despite the pain in his shoulder. The pain was nothing, he had only ferocity.
"Shat ahp!" he snarled, hitting the ground running around her. Was she stopping the fight? She looked like she was about to. Pathetic! No stopping fights! No! Never! He wanted to fight and he still could and she should shut up!

"You sure about that?" okay, this guy was really starting to unnerve her. He was acting like a trapped radaku, and she hated trapped radaku, "look, I'm trying to look out for you here!" fighting was one thing, but you had to look out for others otherwise you were a total a*****e, and Kaa wasn't a total a*****e and didn't intend to be so in front of a crowd of possibly attractive people.
She backed away. He was making her uncomfortable.
"Look, you were hurt pretty bad, you wanna take a minute? I can do that!" Yah, she could be magnanimous!

"SHADDUP!" he screamed, leaping at her. Some strand of hair had escaped his ponytail and they made him look even more feral as he came at her, blade in hand. He slashed down at her at the apex of his leap, then landed, grimacing with pain as his injury took some of the force of landing.
