Okay. Biroki was okay. Biroki could do this. He was meditated and refreshed and calmed. He wasn't going to be a nervous wreck. He rolled his shoulders, hefting his staff. Didn't he know this guy? No matter, this was a game, a tournament. For fun and entertainment.
He knew how to entertain, at least, but this time it wouldn't be because he was falling flat on his a**.

Razzie flipped through the book he had been given idly. Well, s**t, he had no idea how to use this thing! Did he throw it? Or was he supposed to chant something? He sighed, but smiled weakly towards Biroki. Yeah, he hoped that "sorry" wasn't a prediction of his defeat.
"No problem...?" He replied, closing the book. What the hell was he doing here?

Rastian opened the book again and stared at it. What was he supposed to do again? He blinked, gazed to Biroki, and focused all his energy into creating an ice ball. Once he actually had the ice ball, he squeaked, and decided to chuck it haphazardly at Biroki. Maybe it would do something? Like hit him? RASTIAN HAD NO IDEA.

Biroki had not been expecting the sudden chill of ice that lashed against him.
"Wah!" he said, startled. That was COLD. Zuri hadn't been kidding! He hadn't believed there could be that kind of cold! Biroki knew he had to be careful about that book- he didnt know many book-users and so was a bit wary about people casting with words.
Although, come to think of it, words were his thing. So why did he fear them? Because words were powerful.
Despite that, this kid- he could only be about prentice age- was having some trouble.
"Er... it's... all in the wrist?" said Biroki, flinging an incandescent exploding fireball at Rastian. He winced at its impact. Poor guy. That had actually been a good shot!

Rastian moves away from Biroki
To say that Rastian knew what he was doing was akin to saying that the air in Sauti was blue and purple. NO, HE HAD NO IDEA HOW TO FIGHT WITH BOOKS! He took the fire blast with full force, cried, and stumbled. That hurt, and was GOING TO HURT for A LONG TIME! He grabbed the book, flung it open, and mumbled a few words. A soft light enveloped him and brought some comfort to his wounds, before he glanced to Biroki and scooted back a foot or so. HE WAS SCARED AND HE DID NOT LIKE IT!

FWOOSH! Biroki felt sorry for the poor prentice.
"Gah..." He said, grimacing at his own success. He wanted to win, sure, but not like this. This wasn't fair, or nice. This guy could be seriously injured. Why was it that when he was in a fair fight, like with Zuri, that he did so poorly, while when he was up against someone who he should go easy on....?
hmmm... Was it because he was so pathetic he needed to cheat, or something? No, no, that wasn't right. He wasn't a cheater. He should give the kid the fight...
No. No that wasn't right either. He wanted to win, he wanted to keep on winning until he hit the end. There was a prize, wasn't there? Well he wanted that prize. So he wasn't going to drop out.
But that did give him an idea.
"Look" said Biroki, relaxing a bit, "Y-you clearly are, uh, out of your league here... I don't want to... I want you to come out of this in one piece, okay?" He opened his free hand in a gesture of friendliness, "If you, uh, forfeit the match, I don't have to hurt you any more than i have, you don't have to g-get hurt, and you can get those burns p-patched up." He smiled weakly, "How does that sound?"

Biroki kindness had fallen on deaf ears, deaf ears in pain. Rastian screamed, landing flat on his behind, and flipped the book open. He had to try the ice thing again! ONE MORE TIME! He summoned a small ball of ice and flung it, but GROANED... It had melted before it reached his opponent! Hazel eyes turned to the book in great distaste before he flung it several feet to his side.
"Should have used a staff! Damn books are useless!" He cried. He pushed himself up onto his feet again and extended his hand out to Biroki.
"Good game, I've learned a lot just by watching you." He smiled and leaned forward to whisper something into Biroki's ear. "And I'll continue to learn more from the stands, I'm assured. Good luck, friend."
