Blind dates were never really a concern for Richard Moreau and he rather enjoyed them from time to time. He had become far too reliant on the same group of FBs and perhaps a blind date was in order to liven things up. Not that he really needed it given his second profession, but he needed more of a different kind of excitement. More dating and woohooing, less life threatening danger and risky business kind of excitement. Tonight, he didn't want to worry about any of that. He'd fill his quota and do his duty another night. Tonight, all he wanted to do was impressed a fair maiden of hopefully a respectable nature and perhaps get a little after dinner party, at his condo, under the sheets.

But, he'd be content with just a regular ol' date as well. Eat good food, enjoy good company, get his mind off of matters and the such.

He arrived at the rendesvous point a little early, even for his own taste, and that gave him a moment to freshen up. Tie straight? Check. Shoulders clean and strong? Check. Not a single speck of dirt could be found on his shoes or pants. Even his little fedora hat was straightened up, resting perfectly upon his red top, and though he didn't wear his shades (because it was night and even Richard wasn't foolish enough to do that), it would be been fitting for someone of his caliber. All that was left to do was straighten the cuffs of his undershirt, and he did so, all the while keeping his eyes open for his blind date, looking for a lady that had a white rose, to match his own that rested on his chest pocket.

'Introduce each other, then walk to that fancy-pants Asian cuisine just down the street... how hard can that be?'

In this city, one should never tempt fate, and he should have known that by now...

Unlike Richard, his dating partner wasn't as excited of tonight as he was. To Jade, blind dates were more or less nuisances, something that her friend Karen used to arrange for her at times. In Karen's opinion, Jade needed some exitement in her love life, someone to bring smile on her face. Sure, she meant well but there was just one problem.

Jade didn't want excitement in her love life. She was perfectly content of being single.

But she knew better to not ruffle her feathers to Karen. She knew she couldn't win this argue so instead of having a pointless fight she focused on getting herself ready for the date; doing make-up, styling her oh so plentiful hair and picking just right pieces to go well with her outfit. Just because she didn't like the idea of blind date didn't mean she couldn't look gorgeous tonight.

Couple minutes before the appointed time a beige Nissan Murano Cabriolet parked near the rendesvous point. The front door opened and from inside of the car Jade gracefully stepped out. She was wearing an elegant little black dress, matching heels and a small, rather cute white handbag. White pearl earrings dangled from her ears and on her neck was a classic cameo necklace. Her luxurious turquoise colored hair was tied up into a complex chignon, decorated with couple fake silk roses and one real, white rose.

Jade exchanged couple words with the driver of the car (who was Karen, of course she wouldn't let Jade to be late from her date), until closing the door and waving lightly as the car took it's leave from the scene. For a second, her dark brown eyes closed and she let out a little sigh. Now was the time. There was escape from it. Although she wasn't completely sure, she suspected her dating partner would have seen her arrival. Silently she hoped for the dinner to be pleasant before turning around and finding her dinner company with her gaze. There. For a moment, a tiny smile formed on her tiny pink lips and Richard earned couple points in her books. He was well-dressed and punctual, both traits Jade appreciated. Maybe this date would not be so bad.

She gave him a small wave before starting to approach him. "You must be Richard," soft voice said when she was enough close to be able talk without the need to rise her voice. "According to Karen, you'll be my date tonight." Her right hand was offered to Richard and silently Jade wondered what his next move would be. Would he kiss her hand? Shake it? Pulled her into a hug?

"I'm Jade, or Yadira Sorah if you feel like being formal."

The moment Jade stepped out of the vehicle and caught Richard's eye, he was hoping that she was his blind date. Even before he set eyes on the roses, his attention was drawn to her her beauty, and it had very little to do with that dress of hers. No, right off the bat, he decided that he'd like this woman, and maybe that was his exhaustion seeping through, but it certainly did wonders in getting him in the mindset he needed to be at.

He kept up appearances, allowing his blind date to handle her business and all the while doing one last minute check over himself to make absolutely certain that he was presentable, mere seconds before she had spotted him and waved. Unaware of her reluctance, he was willing to entertain her, acting nothing short of civilized pleasant as he accepted the hand offered to him. He gave it a gentle and curt kiss, bowing his head as though he were greeting a lady of the high court and not just another citizen of Destiny City. That's just how Richard was... when he fancied himself to be, anyway.

"A pleasure to meet you, Yadira Sorah," Richard said upon straightening up. He released her hand and took a step back, allowing the lady to have her space, and though he knew very little about her through Karen, he still treated her as he would any high class lady, at least until she came out and allowed him to drop the act. Until then, he'd carry on. "Though Jade has a lovely ring to it as well. Short, yet elegant in its own right."

Not wanting to bore her, he motioned towards the restaurant that was just down the street, hidden in a little garden. It was a quaint, but expensive place, and Richard figured that if the food wouldn't impress her, then the flowers certainly would. "I am Richard Valentine Moreau, but you may, of course, call me Richard. Are you ready to venture forth?"

What he was expecting was a simple dinner, with some wine and dessert (and not just the chocolate kind). What he wasn't expecting was danger lurking, just beyond the garden...

Wow, this guy really knew how to treat a lady! It was certainly a pleasant change for Jade who mostly had encountered men who were only interested of her body, way too shy or simply just total weirdos. But even though she was enjoying this noble treatment she was getting from him she was wary. Who knew what skeletons this man hid in his closet?

"Pleasure to meet you as well, Richard. It makes me happy to see chivaldry is not dead," Jade replied politely while pulling her hand back to her side and shifting her handbag to more comfortable position. She turned her attention towards the restaurant he was motioning and as soon she recognized the place, a delighted sigh escaped between her pink lips which she quickly hid with her hands. She had visited this place once, at time when she was unemployed and looking for a job as a chef. They hadn't hired her but ever since she had wanted to dine in this restaurant. Unfortunately, money problems had prevented her of making that dream come true.

And now he was taking her there for dinner?!

"How come you chose this restaurant?" she asked quietly, eyes glimmering a little. She did her best to keep herself cool and elegant image on but it turned out to be hard when the excitement she felt was almost overwhelming.

"Yes, I'm ready. Lead the way, mister Moreau."

It felt nice to be a simple man, on a simple date, with little fears or concern to bother him besides that which came when trying to please a lady. No Senshi, no Mirror Wraiths, no officers pestering him, or youma nipping at his heels. Just the matter of keeping Jade impressed, and he felt like he had gotten off to a wonderful start thus far. He could not ignore the delighted gasp that left her throat, and it did his ego well to know that he had chosen his locations wisely.

"I thought you might like the place. I was informed that you were one of refined tastes, so I did a little snooping around and was told that this was worth the investment," Richard said with an artful grin, motioning for her to follow him through the quaint little garden path before them. His wallet was full but his stomach was running on empty, and it was time to see if the reviews about this place were worth it. He never had this fancy of Asian cuisine and he was eager to get his magic flowing in a normal, non-threatening to himself or others way. "You're going to have to educate me on some of the more interesting dishes... I'm more for venison myself, but I'm willing to give new things a try."

What DID they eat in Asian cuisine anyway? And what part of Asia did they inspire from? These thoughts plagued his mind and distracted him from the dark figure that was lurking through the garden, its hungered gaze set firmly on the two that were drawing closer and closer. Soon, they would be within their grasps, and it struck for the lady in the elegant dress first, not at all realizing that her escort was an officer in disguise. Or maybe it did and it was simply too hungry to care. It lashed out, and the sudden movement made Richard come to a sudden halt, instinctively reaching for Jade and trying to pull her out of the way of green, spiky tentacles that lashed out from its hiding place. He gave a shout, doing nothing to hide his fear and frustration as he said, "Oh for the love of- watch out!"

There, emerging from the garden, was an incoherent mess of lotus blossoms, withered leaves, and gnarled roots that twisted about its structure like tentacles enveloped an octopus. There was no mistaking what this creature was, and he somehow managed to keep his voice low, not wanting her to see that he was more annoyed by his rotten luck than terrified. "Why did you have to attack here!?"

"Ah, Karen must have been telling you little secrets, am I right?" Jade asked, raising one of her eyebrows a little.

Not that it was wrong that Karen had given this hint to him. No, not at all. She appreciated the fact he had done some research and picked their restarant carefully and had been ready to invest money on it. So far, things have been going smoothly and she had not found a single thing to complain about. She had high expections of the quality of food, the garden around the restaurant was breathtakingly beautiful and her date was a gentleman that treated her like a lady. When he asked her to share her knowledge with him of asian cuisine, she couldn't help herself to not sound a little bit proud when saying, "Is that so? Well, I'll be happy to be your guide in the wonderful world of asian cui- "

But before she could finish her sentence, a sudden movement and a sound of something lashing out towards them startled her. She turned to look at the direction of the sound and what her eyes saw was rather familiar sight. Tentacles coming swiftly towards her. Just like in the Surrounding. Except this time these tentacles didn't belong to icy cold shadow creature. Instead, they were green and spiky and botanical.

Her body tensed and she took a defensive stance, ready to face the coming danger. However, before she had decided which way to dodge she felt a sudden pull to the safety and soon found herself from an embrace with her blind date. Instictively, her hands moved to his sides and she took a tight grip, trying to prevent them both tumbling on the rocky garden path. "Thank you. That was..... chivalric," she said when she felt she had stable footing and had no fear of falling down. It was rather confusing actually, to be the one who got saved. She could almost hear Karen squealing 'Did he really do that? I told you he is like a prince!' and she wasn't sure what to think about that.

However, like a prince or not, Jade refused to take a role of helpless princess. She couldn't just stay there clinging onto him and wondering what scent he had put on this evening. No, if she could do something she would. At first, she kneeled down to work on with buckles of her heels, hoping that this every gardener's nightmare would give her at least that much break. It strongly looked like the situation was getting dangerous and she rather preferred to not wear heels in a situation like this. "This wasn't really what I expected from this evening...," she silently muttered while keeping her gaze firmly locked on the monster, wary of it's every movement and ready to act accordingly when it would make it's next move.

They didn't have to wait for long. After retreating it's tentacles and rustling it's leaves angrily to them, the youma had decided to try again. It lashed it's tentacles again towards them, trying to capture the lady with turquoise hair in it's grip.

"Look out!!" she shouted before she jumping to the left side, managing to dodge the attack but only barely. However even though the first one was avoided, there were two others coming towards her, this time from both sides of her.

ChibiGingi
Feel free to puppet Jade a little in your next post. I left it purposely a little open so you can decide whether or not those tentacles capture her. And if yes, what would happen next?

Tonight was suppose to just be a regular night. A blind date where he could just relax, eat, get to know a pretty lady, sip some wine and maybe even take said pretty lady home home. He wanted to know more about her, even if they never got past phase one, because it reminded him that he was a human, with regular problems and delights. It made the effort he put forth in researching Jade's exquisite tastes and finding a single restaurant in town that fit the bill all the worth it. Gave him something to do, that wasn't related to the Negaverse, and some normality.

Then, this youma had to come in and remind him, and that honestly bothered him more than anything else right now. More than the Senshi, or even another Negaverse officer, or even a damned Mirror Wraith. But, no, it had to be a youma, as if it knew of his past ordeals, as if to openly mock him.

Or would, had this one seemed capable of coherent thoughts and wasn't anything more than a beast fueled purely by instincts. It was hard to stay angry at it when it lashed out at them, but not for Richard. He had a slew of insults ready for it when Jade dropped to her knees to work at removing her shoes, and for a brief moment, he considered his options.

The first and easiest option was to simply run away and let the youma have her- after all, it wasn't there to kill, just gather energy. The second was to run, and transform, and either assist the youma or try and stop it (without killing it this time, as he had a habit of learning from his mistakes). The third was to forego the whole 'running and transform' idea and just... doing it right in front of the young lady, but that was a risky gamble in of itself. What if she was a Senshi? Or a knight? Maybe she was even like him?

Such thoughts would have to wait, however, as the youma lashed out again. He heard her warning and acted swiftly, dropping his rose and focusing purely on dodging. Whereas Jade dodged to the left, he took to the right, and he almost counted his blessings when the tentacles latched onto Jade, one taking her arm and the other going for her leg. His landing wasn't too graceful, but there were no tentacles for him, as the moment they found a target, the other tentacles rushed towards her. It wouldn't be long before they completely enveloped her, and the sensible side of Richard was willing to cut his losses and flee, lamenting the young woman's rotten luck in passing.

Yet, he couldn't. While it was in the Negaverse' best interests to allow the youma to have its way, this was a citizen. A citizen that could have been extremely useful, if she could be convinced... There was also a chance that should he leave, a Senshi or Knight would come to her rescue, and thus, risk giving them another potential ally. All of these thoughts ran through his head, and any notion of enjoying the evening as Richard Moreau was gone from his mind. 'This might be a huge risk... but is it worth taking?'

Should he transform? If he did, should he assist the youma, or help her? It was a tough decision, one that the youma cared very little for as it tried to tighten its grip around the struggling woman.

What had started almost like a dream was rapidly turning into a disastrous nightmare. At this point it was clear that any hopeful wishes of having a nice, normal dinner in a fine restaurant wouldn't happen tonight. Even if she would survive from this encounter alive, she wasn't presentable enough for such a high-class restaurant. Her updo was already falling apart, she felt her skin getting sweaty and she had a feeling her dress and make-up would be ruined soon if that already hadn't happened. Sure, that might made her vain in some level but little things like these were important to a perfectionist like her and bothered her.

But now was no time for such thoughts.

For a brief moment, Jade felt triumphant of her success to dodge one tentacle until another pursued her and curled around her forearm. Sharp pain consumed her thoughts and forced a wince coming out. And there was another one coming, this time hunting her leg. Instinctively, she stepped backwards putting all the footwork skills she has learned from self-defense classes she had been attending in to use. But even that couldn't save her from multiple other tentacles that were rushing after her from almost every side. It didn't take long until she felt spikes around her waist and knees and almost immediately her body hitting against the ground as the youma pulled her and made her losing her balance.

Had she lost?

Had she lost this fight? Would she lose her life tonight? Was this the end? She couldn't ignore the thought, she couldn't shake the fear from her mind. How could she had known the youma wasn't here to kill her? That it was just gathering energy? In the Surrounding, these monsters were indeed looking for a kill and even though her death wasn't done by a monster but a soldier of darkness, her death and monsters' presence were connected in her mind.

Maybe that made things even worse.

With painful groan she opened her eyes and looked at her surroundings. She tried to struggle a little but it was almost impossible. The youma's tentacles hold her still effectively. Instead, her eyes found Richard, quite near to her. Her eyes found also one tentacle looming behind him.

"Richard, behind-!" Jade shout an alarm to him as the tentacle rushed out towards them. She tried to pull herself back up and managed to lift her upper body a little with her arms from the ground when she suddenly halted, as she saw something that didn't quite fit in the picture. She watched as the tentacle slithered in the air like a some kind of spiky snake, clearly evading Richard's body and finally curling up around her ankles. "... you." She stared at the tentacle for a moment, her eyebrows lowering a little, before she turned her gaze to the man in suit before her. "Richard?"

Why these tentacles rushed towards her only? In the Surrounding, everyone was fair game for these monsters. Wouldn't it be logical for the monster to pursue him as well? But it was not doing that. Why? It didn't make any sense.

"It isn't pursuing you at all," she said, sounding calm but she couldn't help her body trembling of fear a little. "I'm it's prey." Like pressing her words, one final tentacle found it's way around her wrists. She watched it for a moment, until her gaze returned back to her blind date. Her eyes were very serious, almost cold.

"And you allow it."

She wasn't sure what she had been expecting. Him trying to protect her? Maybe. That certainly would have been chivaldric. Him yelling at the monster? That might have shown her he cared. Him fleeing? Well, she wouldn't have blamed him for that. But watching her die and doing nothing to prevent that? This she haven't been expecting. This was the worst option of all! Any points he had earned in her books tonight came crashing down on the ground and shattered into thousands of pieces. This man was no prince. This man was no gentleman. It was hard to even look at him anymore.

She sighed, gazing somewhere in the sky and fighting against tears that were wanting to come in her eyes. What a fool she had been! She should have been more careful. She should have stayed home. If only she would have stayed home, none of this would have happened.

"At least, tell me why," she said after she had calmed herself, turning to look at him again. "Tell me, why you allow this to happen? Is it... fun to watch?"

She could feel tentacles strongly squeezing her and spikes penetrating her skin and drawing blood from her thighs, arms and torso. It hurt, oh how much it hurt, but she refused to turn her gaze away. She needed to know, he owed it to him!

"Or don't I have a right to know before I bleed to death?"

No, this night certainly didn't go as expected for him, and if Richard didn't care about his public image, even when the only one there was a poor woman that was about to be drained of her life source and likely left for dead, he would have thrown such a fit! This wasn't how his night was suppose to go! All he wanted was a simple date! With a beautiful lady, at a fancy restaurant that he never tried before, and maybe, just maybe, he could take her home and finish the night off right. That's all he wanted, and yet that was ruined.

Not just by the youma's poorly timed arrival- after all, it was a youma, a monster, with nothing to go off of but basic instincts and the simplest of orders. It had no way of knowing that he was ruining his day, and if he did, why should he have cared? It was a youma.

No, what really got under his skin was Jade's fight, and the shame he could feel swelling within him as he just sat back and watched. It was always admirable to see anyone put up such a strong resistance, even when there was no possible way for them to win, but it was her words and how they were directed at him that got to him, and he tried so hard not to want to turn away. He didn't want her to see the effect that they were having on him, but the way he curled his fist and teeth ground against each other was a clear sign that he wasn't taking too kindly to her words, and what they implied.

He wanted to retaliate by explaining that her life wasn't in danger, that the youma was only going to take some of her energy and scuttle away back into the depths of the Rift where it had came from. And yet, the sight of blood bubbling to the surface and her plea... no, her outright demand to know why... that was the final straw. That was what enticed him into action, and it was quick.

"Tch... you're not going to bleed to death, Jade," Richard said, his voice devoid of emotion for a moment, and only when he was certain that the two of them were the only ones there, he snapped his fingers. It was a completely unnecessary action, but it was flashy, and within seconds, Richard's evening attire was replaced with a dark grey and red Soldat steel jacket, and only when he was completely in uniform did he stand a stand and point to the youma. Captain Buddingtonite seldom took such a serious tone, but the authority in it could not be denied, as he gave a strict shout. "Unhand her this instant! She's a friend of the Negaverse."

He had tried this tactic before to save a page, but that was back when he was a lowly lieutenant, and a fool. Now that he was a captain, and one with a youma of his very own, he knew that he could succeed where he had failed last time, and the moment he gave the order, the youma immediately loosened its grip from around Jade's limbs and began to slink away, not entirely retreating but wrapping its thorny tentacles around itself and giving a low gurgle, acknowledging his command and looking to be await for the next orders.

It felt... unimaginably good to have such control, even if it was limited, and Buddingtonite gave a snide scoff, walking past the youma and kneeling next to the brave, young woman, looking her body over and wincing slightly at the cuts he saw. "My apologies, dear Jade... that wasn't meant to happen. I was hoping that my presence alone would be enough to keep them at bay..."

He offered her a hand, though he half suspected that she wouldn't take it. And in truth, he wouldn't have held it against her, but that'd mean that he'd have to take her starseed to force her to keep his identity a secret. And truly, he didn't want to do that, not with someone so spirited, so... potentially useful.

YOU MADE BUDDY HAVE FEELS. YOU KNOW HE CAN'T HANDLE FEELS.

When Jade noticed Richard's reaction to her words, she regretted her words for a moment. Had she managed to upset him? Would he leave her now, alone with this strange plant monster? She didn't want him to leave, although honestly, even him leaving her was better option in her eyes than him just watching her suffering. At least that way she would know what his stance was in this whole ordeal.

But apparently her words had some positive effects as well as Richard finally decided to take an action. With just a snap of fingers his whole attire... changed? Well, this was new. She had witnessed magic happening before her eyes but never anyone transforming. She wasn't very surprised though. After events in the Surrounding and living couple days as a cat, thanks to certain Mauvian accident, there was little that could shake her. Anything was possible in this city, she had witnessed that way too many times for her liking..

His command to the monster was loud and strict and honestly, Jade was somewhat impressed of how much authority his voice held. She was even more impressed when she felt the painful grip to ease up and thorny tentacles retreating from around her. It was such a relief but in the same time little warning bells started ringing inside her head. That man was actually dangerous!

For a moment she considered fleeing from the scene but that plan was buried soon enough as she realized the plant monster was still present and the man who had control over it was walking towards her. Even if she would start running now she wouldn't get far if Richard would wish so. He could command that monster and she didn't doubt a second there was a risk of him sending said monster after her should she make him upset. No, an escape attempt would be too risky, too ungrateful gesture. She was certain he would not like it. And she was certain she did not like to feel those spiky tentacles around her again. No, she would have to treat him well and be careful of not ruffling his feathers.... at least until the right moment for the escape attempt would come. Until then, she would have to play nice!

She turned her focus to finding her handbag (which was rather easy to find, apparently she had had it hanging on her elbow the entire time) and picking a tissue from there. Every woman should carry tissues in their handbags, just in case of make-up disaster, spilling nose or minor accident. In this case however, the accident was a little bit more serious. But before she managed to clean any blood from her skin, her attention was drawn back to Richard who knelt next to her. She listened his apology, raising her eyebrow a little to the word 'dear' and contemplated how sincere his words actually were. It was somewhat hard to trust him after all what had happened but for now, she had to. She simply had to, in order to survive from this night.

Her eyes turned to glance at his hand that was offered to her, then at his eyes, then his offered hand again. Her lips pursed when she pondered how to respond to his gesture. Part of her didn't want to accept said offer of peace, she wanted to let him know she was unsatisfied to his behavior. But that would not be very wise. She was supposed to play nice, not to make him more angry!

And honestly, she would have preferred mending her wounds a bit before standing up. But what she was supposed to do with that gesture?!

Hmm, maybe she could....?

It was a bit risky act though since she wasn't used to such actions.... Karen was much better at this...

But it might be a good way to show her gratitude to him and maybe please him enough so he would order the plant monster somewhere far... away from her.

Carefully but surely her hand reached towards the hand he was offering to her. Her fingers run on his fingertips, she studied his hand and suddenly he could feel a light pull. Gently, barely even touching his hand she led it towards her. Towards her lips. She bowed a little and placed a light, short kiss on the back of his gloved hand. After she was sure there was no lipstick stains on his glove, she let his hand free.

Then, carefully, she looked up to her blind date. Luckily for Richard, Jade had quiet voice when she said the following:

"Thank you for saving my life, Richard Moreau. I truly appreciate it."

ChibiGingi
Well, you made Jade have feels first! So there! And look at her, she made a move! eek Jade never makes moves!

If there was a senior officer present, Buddingtonite was certain that he'd be in serious trouble, and he wouldn't have disagreed with them. After all, transforming in front of a civilian, who could have easily been a page or even a Senshi in disguise, that could have easily spelled disaster for him. Or perhaps it was just as possible that she could have been a senior officer in disguise and this was merely a test of his loyalty. Yet, he had a feeling that none of these 'what-if' scenarios were true, as her reaction to all of this seemed genuine, but the problem remained that he had transformed in front of a civilian, and this could be problematic.

Or, it could be beneficial to him. What started off as a disaster could easily be worked around into something better, and any good confectioner knew that when the first batch of candy went awry and you were running out of time, you used a little creativity to transform them into something grand, something extravagant! Buddingtonite liked the opportunities that opened up when taking extreme risks, but he would have to play his cards right. After all, had he sad something wrong or made the slightest mistake, and then he'd be forced to through this batch away. Luckily for him, he at least had the power and the means to rid himself of this potential problem permanently if it came to that.

But that was merely an 'if'. For now, he worked his charm, and ignoring the obedient youma that continued to thrum behind him, he helped Jade to her feet. She appeared grateful, but Buddingtonite could not ignore the cloud of tension that settled in the air. It was thick and stifling, but that only meant that he had to work his magic all the more, to really push this deal. He didn't blame her for the hesitation he could see and her caution was admirable- after all, though he may have helped her this evening, the fact that he revealed that he had some method of control over these creatures would have been enough to make anyone weary, and he only found her all the more appealing because of this. This wasn't paranoia. This was common sense and true insight. The Negaverse needed that.. someone like Jade.

He was content to just let her up, but the slightly pull, and then the kiss to his glove, honestly surprised him, and he ad hoped that the amount of red on his uniform would help distract her from the slightest blush that might have appeared on his cheeks. He was even willing to overlook the fact that she called him by his name-- his civilian name-- but there was no one else there, and no one else to listen. It was quick to forgive her for this slight offense, and it showed when he held no anger in his voice as he addressed her. "You are more than welcomed. My name, while in this suit, is Captain Buddingtonite of the Infiltration Branch. But, you are more then welcomed to call me 'Buddy'."

He figured now was as good a time as any to introduce himself and the organization to her, and hoping to ease some of that tension, he waved at the youma that had previously attacked is blind date, giving a casual 'you're dismissed' motion and the youma simply turned and left. Whether it was going back to the Rift or simply looking for another target was none of Buddingtonite's concern, as his sole focus was on Jade. "I am so very sorry for this offense. You see, I am an officer of the Negaverse and what you've just encountered was a youma, creatures that we harbor and offer a safe haven from our enemies. As you can see, though, they're quite… unruly at times, and they survive off of energy. I'm sorry that it hurt you- it wasn't my intention that you'd be hurt this evening, or any other day, for that matter."

It seemed to be working. He wasn't angry to her anymore. And was he... blushing?! Hmm, maybe she wasn't that bad at this flirting thing after all....

Sending the plant monster, no, the youma away definately helped to ease the tension. She couldn't stop a relieved sigh from coming out and a smile forming on her lips. She quickly hid her smile though by covering her mouth with her both hands but even still, her joy was visible from her eyes that were glimmering lightly. There was no need to fear that nasty creature anymore!

However, there was still a reason for her to be cautious and that reason was the man before her, her blind date. Even though the plant youma had left, he was still dangerous! That thought alone was enough to quickly crash her back to Earth and wipe any signs of excitement from her expression.

He was a man with the great power, with the power that surpassed her own, with the power that he had revealed to her in front of her eyes. That man had introduced himself as Captain Buddingtonite, which Jade suspected of being some kind of codename. While he had not said it aloud and his voice was not threatening, Jade understood it as note it wasn't acceptable for her to call him Richard Moreau while he was in this uniform. Why? Was it a secret? A big secret? If so, why he had done this whole clothing changing trick in front of her eyes and gave her this valuable information? Why had he trusted her that much? There was something going on and Jade wasn't sure did she really want to know, even though she felt she had to.

"I hope you don't mind I look a little this new attire of yours," she finally said and began slowly to circle him, examining his uniform from every ankle. She didn't do this just for curiosity's sake. She needed something to do, something that could help her relax, something that would take his attention away from her feelings. She didn't want him to see how much she feared, him and this situation. "Such fine tailoring. Nice seams and the material looks high-class. This must have been expensive," she said thoughtfully when she back in front of him again. Her finger touched lightly the fabric covering his chest, idly moving up and down "I must say, it suits you.. You look very handsome."

Wait. What she just said?!

She didn't mean to say that! She didn't mean to encourage him. She wanted to be at home already, mending these cuts (even though they didn't seem to be very bad after all) and making oh so desired dinner for herself and only for herself. She just wanted to relax.... But she had a feeling she could not relax for a loooong while.

Her hands rose again, this time her fingers went over the bridge of her nose, covering her mouth and partly her cheeks that got a little red tint on them by now. She closed her eyes and let out a long sigh.

Buddy," she said, eyes closed, after she had managed to calm herself down a little. "I have a feeling I have gotten myself into a big mess. Tell me about it. Tell me everything. And..." Her eyes opened and locked into his own. Even though she had tried to keep her calm, there was still a hint of fear visible.

"... please, be honest."

Buddingtonite was never the type to turn away such a request, and he could not fight the swelling of his ego as he gave a permissive nod. "Of course. I can imagine how surprised you must feel to have witnessed a transformation for the first time."

He placed his hands behind his back and allowed her to continue her observation, all the while hiding his crystal in the palm of his hands and debating to himself which of the General-Kings or Queens to request join them. As much as part of him wanted to just power down and pretend this event never happened, he simply knew better. While she seemed entertained at his attire, he could not ignore the fact that he had transformed in front of him, had seen who he was, and now, was fully aware of the Negaverse. A greater man would have done better in convincing her to join their ranks, but considering she had just been attacked by a youma, one that he could barely control... no, he knew that he could not do justice for this situation.

The alternative was more simple. Kill her. Pluck out her starseed and make absolutely sure that she kept his identity a secret. After all, no one could talk when they were dead, right? It was certainly within the realm of possibilities, and taking advantage of the situation would have been so easy it would be criminal. But, Buddingtonite steadied his hands and resisted the impulse. She had a certain charm, a spunk, to not only try and fight a youma but to shame him while he just stood back and watched. She'd be much more useful alive.

Besides, if he killed her, then who would he go to when he needed to be flattered? If anything, she was doing an excellent job in boosting his already inflated ego, and he gave a mock-nervous chuckle when she had called him handsome, pretending to be a little shy and managing to bring the crystal closer to his face to mask how he tried initiating contact. "Please, you are... too kind. The cosmic tailor would be flattered to hear such a thing, I'm sure."

Truthfully he could have gone on a little longer with the compliments, but the moment she calmed down, she bombarded him with questions that he wasn't quite ready to answer, but he knew he could not escape this. The moment he decided to suit up and protect her from the youma, he knew he'd have to face this, and he was willing to answer her questions. But... not alone.

"Alright, I'll tell you all that I am allowed to, and the rest, should you be willing to hear it, will have to come later. In a more secure location. I'm sure you'll understand." He cleared his throat, preparing a rather long-winded explanation, considering exactly what was safe to tell her, and what should wait for the senior officer's arrival. "I am Captain Buddingtonite of the Infiltration Branch of the Negaverse, which is an organization that exists for one purpose: protecting this planet from the inevitable hostile takeover from the White Moon Senshi and their Knights. We've been fighting a war throughout this city for quite awhile now, gathering energy and starseeds so that we may have the power and means to stand against their Moon Queen, should she ever rise again, to prevent the people of Earth from being her slaves once more. We have officers and even our own Senshi, as well as youma, in our employment, and it is my duty as an Infiltration officer to maintain a good PR and recruit loyal officers and soldiers into our ranks."

It was certainly a mouthful, and it was very truthful. Never the less, he knew he could not tell her much more out here in the open, and who better to give this woman the information she desired than the General-King of the Intelligence branch himself? Finally, he allowed the crystal to be seen, activating his crystal and calling to the man that had awakened him many months ago. "General-King Zinkenite, I hate to bother you as I'm certain you're busy, but could you spare a moment. I have a small situation and I'm sure the lovely lady would like to make an acquaintance with you."

*and from the Eldrich depths of the dark kingdom....

LittleLilyKat

There was nothing for a long moment, a long pause that might make a man afraid that there would be no answer from the ‘lofty’ personage that they had just messaged in hope of a reply, and then, a gust of wind as the world made room for a new person in the vicinity.

General-King Zinkenite stood there, lofting an eyebrow at you both, his gaze especially poignant for the young woman, whom was most certainly not an officer.

“She had better be a rather amazing young woman to ‘catch my eye’ I rather think.” He said lifting his chin. Clearly he didn’t recognize her, not right away at least.

“Did you need my help with her?” He said softly, his implications were not, however, answers granted. He thought of course that she must be ‘someone’ that the captain was unable to corrupt on his own.

Perhaps after recent events, officers were being far more cautious about corrupting on their own, that would be wise of them in a way, yet ultimately tiresome.

"I understand. Thank you, this is very generous," she said, giving him a little nervous smile. Her fingers partly covered her pursing lips as she listened him and tried to mull over the information he was giving to her. At first she mostly kept her gaze steadily in his eyes but as soon he mentioned the word 'senshi', her gaze instictively turned away and her finger started to move a little on her chin. She hoped to appear thoughtful rather than nervous or afraid but even though she tried hard to keep her mask on, it was impossible to hide her true feelings completely.

He was the enemy of Senshi! That information was enough to make her more worried of the situation she was in, of her own safety. She remembered senshi from the Surrounding. She remembered their genuine concern of the safety of them, 51 civilians that were adjucted into the Surrounding without their will, and even though she hated to be told to hide or to get out of the way of the danger when she could still fight and/or help she had considered them to be on her side. And now she was standing in front of the man who claimed to be their enemy. All the other information he gave to her was irrelevant right now. What was this talk about the Moon Queen, or starseeds or energy? She didn't understand.

Honestly, she didn't even care. Right now, the only thing she cared about was he was the enemy of senshi and perhaps her enemy too... Was he part of the dark army that attacked in the Surrounding back then? Had he been there, killing many civilians, senshi or knights, maybe even her? She didn't remember seeing him in the battlefield but her memories of those events were fuzzy, after all it had been two years... Two years was a long time.

Her emotional side was telling her to run, run as fast you can! It was hard to ignore that voice inside her head but at the same time she knew running would be bad choice of action right now. He could outrun her easily or worse, call that plant youma back and let it do the dirty work. Jade had always been a rational girl, pushing her emotions aside and relying to logic and she knew she would have to think something else, some kind of distraction in order to win this game.

Captain Buddingtonite certainly had an advantage. He knew how things worked in his organization, she did not. He knew what to do next, she did not. He was the Captain of the Negaverse and she was just a civilian, just one unfortunate civilian who knew way too much. She had a feeling he wouldn't let to just walk away with that information, it would have been foolish of him to do that. She had a feeling that he wouldn't be that foolish, that he wouldn't be that nice.

No, she would have to pay some kind of prize. What the prize would be was unclear to her but she really didn't wanted to stay to find out. No, she knew she needed to try to escape as soon as possible. But how she would get enough lead to make sure she had better changes to get away from this alive?

But then she saw the crystal in his hand. What was that, a new trick? ... Oh, it was a communication device.... Wait. A communication device! Her eyes widened and she couldn't hide the fear she felt anymore. He's calling back up... She started to shake her head slowly, her lips forming silent words as the same. No. Don't.. Please, Buddy... Don't.

But her silent plea was not heard. She blinked once and a single tear escaped on her cheek.

She was in trap, in the dead end. Was there any hope left for her anymore?

"Buddy," she said, her voice disappointed. "To disturb the busy man like that. It was unnecessary." Slowly, she took a step backwards. "I'm not that important." Her voice was once again calm and soft, like it normally was. Another step was taken backwards, and then another, and another. Little by little she sped up. "I know enough already. Thank you, it was enlightening...... Don't worry, your secret is safe. I won't tell anyone, I promise... Now, if you excuse me I have a dinner waiting for me at home."

But before she managed to turn around and start running, she felt a gust of wind that took her focus from Buddingtonite for a second. Curious, she turned to look at the direction of said wind. Maybe she shouldn't have done that because once she saw the General-King, her futile escape attempt was doomed. Suddenly, her feet didn't obey her will, they didn't move at all! Petrified, she just stared at him, frightened, barely even getting breath.

That man.... That man was a bad omen!

She didn't know how, she didn't know why she felt like it, she just felt it.

Even without sensing his energy signature, even without remembering memories of the Surrounding, she felt that this man was no good.

ChibiGingi
Feel free to puppet her a little if you want. I have a feeling Buddy would not like her little escape attempt...
