Bell never caught on that the dinner thing was a 'date' until she was standing there in front of her closet fussing over what to wear. Any other time she hadn't given much thought to he attire but this time her subconscious had told her that maybe this time she should, and then it was sudden epiphany. And then she wanted to face palm at her self. And then the real fretting began.

Fretting that really didn't have much to do with clothes.

Like...

Okay so it was a logical thing - people asked if they were together all the time when they were doing Beauty and the Beast. And yeah, she had classed him under 'hot as hell' since the day - night - she'd met him. She'd kindly omit the fact that she always wondered how the hell Tallulah had snagged that.... They kinda did spend a lot of time together, didn't they? And even as crappy about life as Bell felt, she did enjoy said time.

Were either of them really ready for this kind of thing? A lot of people would say 'you have to be able to stand on your own before you can stand beside someone,' but quite frankly...Bell doubted those people had half the weight on their shoulders that the two of them had. 'It's not fair to use someone for your own [emotional] benefit!' another little thing she'd seen people post on 'the Facebook.' And yeah, she kind agreed with that but...

So why did she keep coming up with exceptions for everything that said this was a no go?

Okay, so there was an answer - 'cause she wanted to give it a shot.

But could it work?

That wasn't exactly something anyone could say for sure on.

Jamie was nothing like Xavier, which Bell could only count as a good thing. So... So yeah. Yeah, she'd give it a shot.

--

Bell left the house looking rather unintentionally similar to a certain video game character (sans the glasses) and a little while later arrived at the designated place, and took a moment after she got out of the car to use it's reflective surface to fuss at her hair, which was braid-free, straightened, and fell loosely.

"Wow, you look awesome." Jaimie called over, stepping off the curb and walking toward her. He'd arrived a little early, with plenty of time to fidgit, stress, and try not to rumple the hell out of his clothes. He was used to being the one who wore black the most, with Bell in her cute, off the beaten path fashion, but she really rocked what she was currently wearing.

He'd broken form himself a little, but really only a little, wearing a button down shirt with thin, dark lavender stripes, and a steel colored vest with pressed, but slightly faded jeans, and loafers with scuffed toes. Some of the scuffs were new. Bell wasn't the only one who'd been caught up in internal debate.

His hair was braided instead of in a pony tail, a bit frizzy, again from a slightly last minute effort, since it had started in a pony tail, until he'd gotten there early and needed something to do other than fiddle with his buttons and cuffs.

"You ready for some steak?" He asked, flashing her a grin he hoped didn't betray his nerves, praying that if this didn't work out that they could go back to just being casual. They could right? She wasn't Tallulah. There wouldn't be any hissed rumors.

Bell jumped a little before turning around, "Thanks - Not lookin' too bad yourself. Hope I didn't have you waiting too long." One could never judge the traffic in Destiny City. There was always some road closure or another, depending upon how blown up parts of the city got.

As for the steak...

"Absolutely," She smiled. Now, whether either of them was truly ready for this date.. Well, ready or not this was happening, and...yeah. Whether it worked would depend on just how bad they wanted it to.

"Maybe five minutes." Maybe more like fifteen, but he wasn't sure, anxiety threw a wrench into his sense of time. "And don't think I won't jump the table to fight you if you try and pick up the check." He challenged, offering her an arm. She didn't need it, she could probably turn it into six different joint pins, but that wasn't the point. "Get whatever you want. Then I can bug you to find out if you've been thinking about the vacation thing."

"M'kaay~" She gave a smile that spoke amusement, if not challenge. Alas, don't think she won't find other means of balancing the financial scales, male ego be damned. Luckily she was pretty thrifty and cost-conscious anyway.

She had been lending some thought to the vacation thing, but hadn't put any great amount of research in to it, but at least there was an idea.

The restaurant, as they headed inside, had more western themed paraphernalia than the actual old west ever had, though someone had decided to end the theme before the radio, and it was the sounds of modern pop, of the most socially acceptable kind, that played just at the edge of attention span.

He tilted his head sideways and shrugged, an apologetic look for the somewhat tacky decor, but on the other hand. Steak. Steak that came with a good reputation, and where neither of them had to clean up the dishes, and no one had to agree on the exact same desert because they could have whatever one they wanted.

"At least there's no peanut shells on the floor, hn?" Bell said, with a small shoulder bump. The decor really didn't surprise her that much, given the Celtic Cafe where she frequented also had similar decorating practices. Maybe she was just use to clutter.

And yes, steak. Just about anything could be forgiven with a good steak.

The dinner rush of people seemed to have either not yet begun, or ended already - Bell would reckon on 'not yet begun.' Either way, finding a place to sit was no problem. A nice corner with few others near by seemed like a nice spot. The only intrusion would have been the taxidermy hanging on the corner post of the wall, but even that wasn't too bizarre.

"True enough." Jaimie grinned, nodding toward a stuffed bull head. "Hey I think I should totally get one of those. Don't you? We can call him Phil, and hang decorations on him for the holidays."

He joked, picking up a menu for a look.

"Hmn," Bell feigned thinking for a momentt, "a moose would work better as a coat rack, but it might clash with all the other decor."

The menu was given a casual glance - there were only a few things Bell would think of pairing with a steak, but it didn't hurt to make sure said things were available. Some would say you could tell a lot about someone why what they have with their steak.

Afterwards, she sat the menu back down, folded her hands on top of the table and cut right to things...perhaps a bit more abruptly than intended.

"So, this is a thing." There seemed to be an inability to say 'date,' but she figured he'd catch her meaning. "I guess I wasn't paying too much attention when you asked, cause I didn't catch on until, well, maybe an hour ago," she bit her lip, embarrassed at her self a little bit. "But I'm willing to give the couple thing a shot."

Bell knew it could be difficult dating an actress, especially one who pushed for large, demanding roles, and she knew that they were both still probably somewhat 'damaged goods' when it came to more tender emotion, but... Well, she realized now that she kinda really wanted this to work. And surely he'd already considered those things..

Jaimie didn't blush outright, or maybe a little, his ears certainly turned slightly more pink and he studied the menu like he was planing to stare holes into it.

"I...ah... wasn't totally planning to ask it just kinda happened. ... I mean I'm not sorry it happened but I wasn't... y'know... planning this. ... WOw ok this sounds like I'm trying to make a train wreck. I'm not. I just... I like you a lot. I love hanging out with you, I think you're friggin' brilliant and talented and tougher than a boxing glove full of nails, and I'm really, really glad you let me be any part of your life at all, let alone go on an actual date with me."

Holy Wordbarf Batman.

"Especially the part where I sound like an idiot right now..." he added, resting his chin on his hand, fingers splayed to half cover his face.

Word barf was amusing, and Bell just sat there and listened, a calm smile on her face.

Then she gave a laugh, which more qualified more as blowing more air out one's nose than usual, rather than a laugh, and replied in an attempt at humor, "You blew up a giant goop youma and got it all in my hair - that sticks with someone."

It at least certainly left an impression, but it also served to show how far they'd come from being the rookie sailor scouts to the people they were now, even if the war wasn't as large a part in their lives anymore.

"And I mean that in a good way. You've put up with more of my ranting and raving than any sane person should have to, and keep coming back for more. You're not an idiot. You're insane. But I like that."

"Well since we're both still living in this insane city and both of us are actually trying to make a living here... I would assume that both of our mental health is a bit in question. I at least can claim that since my predecessors lived on a planet with two suns that the inevitable heat stroke was so intense it became genetic, what about you?" He joked, grinning.

"Also I think a certain degree of insanity allows me to find the humor in being in a situation that caused me to blow up a giant goo monster to begin with." he chuckled, a little more softly. "Holy crap that was one hell of a day. I do not miss the sailor-shorts either"

"Can't say~ I've never been to my little star. From what I hear they're mostly nothing but rubble and ruins anyway. A few scattered memories here and there. But the past is the past. I'd rather not get any notions about star-crossed destinies if I can help it."

And it was perhaps all for the better - anything that awaited Bell there would have only caused her more trouble than it was worth.

"Those shorts were a fashion faux paux, and I can not imagine they were all that fun in winter. I for one, am thankful my skirt has a train now. For what little good it does."

At least their waitor or waitress had not yet made their way over at the time though, or that would have certainly been an odd conversation to walk in on.

"I didn't see anything but plants and ruins." He admitted. And memories, brief ones, but they weren't worth dwelling on. There was a reason he hadn't been back. Who he was had no bearing on who he needed to be now, and some of the memories would just dig up old heartache.

"It is a pretty awesome skirt. I should write it into the play." He noted, only half joking. "It's badass and dramatic."

The part he didn't know how to deal with was the resolution, he wasn't sure if telling a story based on, no matter how much he changed it, the senshi struggle and looking for their queen would go over. Especially since he really didn't want to just deux ex a mock queen into the picture. Maybe he could write it to make it clear that the focus was on the personal growth of the individual warriors... but he didn't know how people would feel about the open ended hunt.

He wasn't sure how he felt about it, but he was pretty sure at this point that White Moon Queen was at least as indifferent as the Black Moon Queen. She just watched the board. She didn't care about the pawns.

"Hmn, I think it just complicates an already complicated situation. Although if it could be used as some plot device to bring a suitable closing to the play...."

Even if it wasn't true to life - for if it was, surely this war would be over by now - it would make for decent story telling. Even if it was a little cliche.

At least they were on the same page with the whole 'past life/worlds' thing. Although part of Bell's dislike for it may have had something to do with how upset and inconsolable Xavier would be when he'd return from his homeworld. Like, seriously, why go if it's going to upset you? There was enough in the here and now to be upset about, so there's no point in LOOKING for something to upset you. That was how she saw it anyway.

Bell cast another quick glance at the laminated menu, "So~..." Bell looked over her shoulder, "You'd think someone would have been here already to get our drink order at least."
