The Goddess appeared before Zauus, high and mighty. She bowed her head and knelt on one knee in the presence of the being. This is one of the few times that Zauus was face to face with a Goddess. It was the first she had been given a physical item, that is if her little yellow heart did not count as an item. The bag was plain, simple and empty. She looked back at the Goddess and nodded her head slowly after receiving her first job. "I will not let you down" She stepped inside without hesitation. --- Inside there were three doors. The first, calming. The second, unnerving. The last however, was another level of horror, sending cold chills through her grey body. The third was out of the question. Zauus was too scared to even approach the door let alone go through it. Cautiously, she headed towards the second door. It still scared her, but for the Goddess, she would do anything. She passed through the second door.

The door slams shut behind her. Maybe she should have gone with the first door after all... She stepped carefully through the dark. Might as well go to the end now that she was trapped here, right? The hallway seemed to guide her every footstep. Soon she arrived at her destination. She nearly walked right into it. It was a wooden box; a crate of some sort. The top was already opened for her. She slips her hand in to grab whatever that was inside, 'How odd...' She thought to herself. She could only feel the silky folds of fabric as she slithered both hands in. A soft yellow glow is seen through the fabric. Immediately, sh begins to cut around the heart, removing layers of fabric. She carefully places them outside of the crate as to not obstruct her view and accidentally pierce the heart. A voice whispers. ... Keiko It whispers in a raspy breath. Zauus ignores it and continues to snip away at the strings that bind the organ to it's resting place. As the last string is cut and the heart comes free. She holds it in her hand victoriously. It let out one final thump and stops beating abruptly. As she places it in her bag, a memory plays like an old film. It is cut and short. "You are to be the mistress' friend and keep her company." A voice says. It had to figure or face, just a voice.
A young girl in an old dress nods obediently.
"This is miss Keiko. Say hello." The girl does as she is instructed and greets the other girl dressed cleanly in black.

Feeling successful, Zauus starts to walk faster with a little cheer in her step. The floor feels weak and kind of slippery. She walks straight into a wall and is stopped in her tracks. She feels around for some kind of hidden door. Breathing. Zauus heard breathing coming from behind her. "Please give it back..." A small, frail voice calls out but there was nobody there. She continues on her way. The water gets deeper and deeper as she treads further from the dead end. It's cold, but she gets used to it. The water rose to her collarbone and she decides to head back. Zauus turns around, her head tilted back to keep her mouth above the water. "Please give me BACK MY-"The sweet, innocent voice returns but changes to a raspy desperate one mid-sentence. Two hands push her into the water. Everything is in slow motion. "Keikoooo. Where are you?" A young girl calls. She is clad in a blue yukata that goes down to her ankles. She wears no shoes outdoors.
"Up here." Another girl calls. She is slightly different. Older and dressed up like a boy. She is sitting on a branch in a bare tree. Apparently, she is Keiko.
"How did you get up there?" The first girl calls. She attempts to climb up the trunk but fails.
"Not telling." Keiko teases. The young girl must not see the difference between her body and the older girl's features. Keiko had wings where the young girl only had two hands and two feet.
In her futile attempt to climb the tree, the bark scraped the bottom of her feet. She fell back and sat on the ground, inspecting the wound as Keiko watched from above and chuckled at the younger girl's misfortune.
Zauus snaps out of the memory, not realizing how deep she is being pushed. She can't breathe. Her yellow heart grows fainter.

Zauus flails in the water. It is denser than air and obstructs her movements. The stranger seems much more skilled in the art of moving around. Or because they had the upper hand and weren't drowning like she was.
The scissors!
Zauus worked her hand towards her bag, careful to keep the heart inside of it. If the stranger saw it, they might forget about killing her and just snatch the heart up. What she feared the most is not dying, but failing her mission. She feared dropping the scissors. She feared ruining the delicate tissues of the heart. And most of all, she feared that she may cause grief towards the Goddess. She didn't want to lose now. She had always lost to Keiko as a child.
To Keiko...
She grabbed the scissors in a tight fist and stabbed it towards her assailant. It let out a high pitched scream before dissipating into nothingness.
The water drains and she is no longer drowning. Water comes out from her mouth as she coughs violently. She checks the bag in a panic. 'Is the heart still there? Please, oh please be there.' She worried. With shaking fingers, she pulled apart the drawstrings and there it was in it's yellow glowy glory. Perfect.
A light appeared in front of her. Zauus pulled the strings taut and headed towards it. A door appears. Zauus quickly heads towards it in excitement. She made it through this nightmare. With a hand on the doorknob, she could've sworn she saw the stranger behind her, watching her, scissor blades in their hand...

Zauus' head pounded. She opened her eyes a little bit, but shut them immediately after the lights pierced her eyes. She slowly opened them again and looked around. She was laid down on a metal bed in an empty room. Beside her, a dagger lay. She picked it up and carried it with her. There was something unnerving about the room, but she tried to ignore it. She sat up and rubbed her head. It still throbbed, but slightly less now. She slid her legs off the side of the bed and let them dangle. They were about a foot off the ground. She jumped off, wobbling as she landed.
There was a door. There was nothing better to do here, so she headed towards the door. To her surprise, it was unlocked. She placed a hand on the door and pushed it open. A lit hallway appeared in front of her. After taking a step, the door slammed shut behind her. Panicking, she pulled the door back open. In her past experience with unfamiliar things, doors locking behind her were the norm. This door was different. It remained unlocked. She opened it again and looked inside. Empty.
Zauus closes the door and begins to head down the hall. Anything to get out of this terrible light. She turns around. The door is now quite far behind her, but she could see that it had blown open. 'I swear I closed it when I walked off...' She thought to herself. She continued to walk but a distant thud pulls her attention back to the door. She looks back and a black figure is in her line of view. In it's hand a rusted pair of scissors. Her scissors.
Zauus immediately begins to run down the hall.

Frantically trying to escape, Zauus runs face first into a door. She slams her fists against it, screaming for it to open. They remain closed. On the side of the door, a keypad is there. 9 digits. But she doesn't know the password and guessing would surely be the death of her. She looks around for something to jam the keypad but notices a sheet of paper instead. A=1, B=1, C=2.'WHAT THE HECK DOES THIS MEAN!?' She internally screamed in a panicked thought. She continued to slam the doors.

Zauus desperately tries to push at the doors, the figure gets closer. Its scissors make a screeching cry as it snips them in the air. "You can't be better than Keiko." It taunts. "Let's face it, you'll never be better. You're always going tO Be SECoNd BEsT...." It's voice gets distorted near the end and it continues to laugh maniacally. It made little sense to Zauus. Who was Keiko? Why was it saying this? This was no time to be contemplating. She slammed the doors again.

Zauus' headache comes back and her vision begins to blur. She sees a young girl, winged taunting an even younger girl in blue. It all feels so familiar. She presses her hand against her head and tries to get the headache to go away. The memory continues, showing the winged demon holding a toy high in the air away from the younger girl. Zauus gets angry, but doesn't understand why. The figure throws more taunts, telling her that she is trash and doesn't deserve anything.

Zauus' memory doesn't fade. The voice of the figure gets louder and louder, now ringing in her ears. The memory continues to play. The younger girl begins to cry, but the older girl does nothing but laugh. The laugh in the memory becomes an uncomfortable, horrid laugh coming from the figure.

Desperate, Zauus pulls the paper from her pocket again. A=0, B=1, C=2 This did not help her at all if she didn't have the letters to go with it. She begins to pound at the keypad, entering random number sequences but with no luck. "How could you, I am better than you. You can't even climb a tree!" The voice got louder and louder, echoing in the empty hallway.

The memory plays again. This time, a taller man comes and plucks the toy from the older girl's hands. He hands it to the younger girl and begins to scold the older one, but Zauus could not make out any of his words. The younger girl looks satisfied but the older seems displeased and vengeful. "How could you do that to me?? I was such a good fRIEnDDD" It continued to talk as if it were about to cry. The figure wasn't sorry. It really wasn't.

The paper still stayed crumpled in Zauus' hand. Maybe it was a word that it spelled out. But no words came to her head. "Come back and PLAy WITH MeEEE." It screamed, charging towards Zauus at full speed. "WHY ARE YOu SUch A SorE LOOOOSER?"

Zauus began to punch in different numbers into the keypad, but it kept denying her access. "Why doesn't this stupid thing OPEN?!" She shouted. She froze on the spot. She could feel breathing down her neck and cold metal slid across her neck. She turned around and the figure's face was only mere inches from her own face. "Why are yoU RUNnING??" It questioned as it continued to slide the cold metal blades along Zauus' neck down to her glowing yellow heart. OOC Zero feet remain. Defeat.

Zauus opens her eyes again and her body is frozen stiff. She tries to move, but the figure standing over her leans in close and whispers 'Don't worry. It only hurts once' and then let out a blood curdling laugh. A wretched smile grows on the figure's face as Zauus feels a heavy thud. It was a familiar thud, yet it was slightly different.
'That's my heart!' She tried to scream as the figure began to tear her heart out. But her mouth couldn't move. It was frozen with fear and pain.
snip
A sharp pain runs through Zauu's entire body. She is abandoned to rot away. The figure walks away, one hand with a heart, one with a rusted pair of scissors.
'Give... give it back to me...
