Buddingtonite simply could not believe his luck, though it was certainly a refreshing change of pace given how things were just a few weeks ago, or how worse they could have been. Not only did the recent meeting put him, and many others in good spirits, but pretty much being told to gather more energy, gather more starseeds and not just from the civilians but to target the enemy specifically was music to his ears. And many others' as well. Of course, it'd mean a heavier work load for him, and the added danger that came with throwing himself at the enemy, but it also meant that if a plan to lure someone over went sour, he could be sure to rectify that problem with a simple flick of the wrist, and having a dead enemy was better than a reluctant living, right?

While he wasn't among those bloodthristy enough to simply run out and cause damage in his wake, he was quick to take to his patrols, and no sooner had he powered up, he felt the tingling of a nearby Order energy signature. It wasn't all that strong, but it was there, and Captain Buddingtonite, ever the opportunistic and eager to please, was on his way.

He found himself outside of an old, abandoned factory, and while he knew the term well and lived by it, he couldn't help but want to look the gift horse in the mouth with this one. And he did so, loudly, lacking any subtly or desire to approach this coming encounter with any notion of stealth. "Really? An abandoned factory? That's just begging for a good, old fashion throw down."

His orders were clear, and who was he to disobey them? He entered the abandoned factory slowly but with purpose, back and shoulders straight and all but sauntering in, as though he owned the place. And why not? Destiny City belonged to the Negaverse, didn't it? He'd be quick to remind this little Senshi of this the moment he spotted him or her, and he kept his senses on alert, as he announced himself, "Come out, come out, little Senshi! I have a rather tight schedule to keep- you know, keeping the city and it's citizens safe from the cruel tyranny of... well, you."

"Hmm?" Medea rose from below the assembly line and faced the entrance to find a gray-suited man, but what were those spiky metal plates on his shoulders? Did he plan on being hurt? She stood in the center of the assembly floor--seconds ago examining the wheels of the lines and comparing them to her duty. Like the wheels, she worked to fulfill their role, but she didn't understand its greater implications. What exactly did she fight for? She couldn't tell, but fate threw her into hand-to-hand combat, and she felt she had little choice but to accept it.

At the expense of my studies, nonetheless, she thought, but now to address the stranger.

"A throwdown?" she asked. "Are you here to hurt me?"

Why would this stranger want to hurt her? She sensed something...dark about him, but she patrolled for about an hour now, so she blamed it on weariness. The stress of searching for chaos and finishing her essay on the Colonial American novel left her wishing to crawl into bed with her stuffed kittens as reality TV lulled her to sleep.

"That tone seems awfully playful for a battle cry," she added.

He knew that what he was doing was pretty much inviting trouble and any experienced Senshi would have taken advantage of his playful nature and strike him from behind. And he was partially prepared for that, summoning his boomerang and preparing to give it a throw and hope that his aim was true. But the voice didn't come from behind him, but instead the assembly line, and just barely stopped himself from raising his weapon. She was quite easy on the eyes, albeit a little young, but he certainly admired the cosmic tailor these Senshi went to as they were certainly some of the most imaginative designs he's seen.

He lowered his weapon, giving to give the appearance that he meant no harm, and if that wasn't enough, he rose his gloved hands in the classic 'I surrender' expression, hoping to ease any tension that might have existed between the two. She didn't seem like the type to immediately start fighting, and ever the opportunist to not want his face to be punched in, he was willing to keep the peace between them, despite his new orders. "Why, no, of course not! Not unless you're lurking around here to cause trouble, that is. Then I may have to fight you, but I have a feeling that the two of us can find a way to keep it civil."

He lowered his hands and placed them behind his back, tightening his shoulders and appearing nothing but professional and courteous in her presence, despite his earlier threat. "Don't mind my banter- you see, most of your kind seek to do harm and so I've picked up on this as a defense mechanism. Much like a bird or cat will try to make themselves look big, in hopes of scaring away a potential threat. So, forgive me if I seemed harsh or combative."

As for his battlecry, he gave a warm and sincere chuckle, before openly admitting, "My battlecry is usually nothing more than backless howls. I don't do much fighting, despite what my attire my indicate. How about you? Get out often?"

Oh, he didn't want to fight? Hooray! She jumped over the assembly lines to meet the stranger at the entry. Redheaded (the most fiery of hair colors), quite nice-looking in the face...Medea thought this could end quite well. And those eyes. She never saw eyes in such bright red. "Your eyes are so vivid," she said. "Civil works!"

But if I catch you hurting someone, she thought, then I might have to hurt you.

Except he seemed to think her kind--the Senshi--sought harm? What?! Nooo. Senshi were good and kind and full of ribbons and smiles. She understood the news portrayed them as terrorists, but Senshi had saved her and given her magic, so they couldn't be bad, right?

If you think that, you're being naive, thought Medea. What about every book in which the wise elder or best friend betrays the protagonist? Et tu, Brute?

"Mm~" she circled the stranger. "What kind of harm?"

She stopped at his right and said, "I don't really fight that often. Mostly I'm figuring out my purpose in all of this. You seem pretty experienced though--striding into this factory so confidently. Wouldn't someone fresh to battle be a touch more cautious? For all you know, I could be the Senshi of Nuclear Explosions." She winked and nudged his arm.

"I am honored by your compliment, my dear," Buddingtonite said, hoping that his smile enhanced the brightness of his crimson eyes, and he sought to return the favor, in kind. "Though I must admit, I'm rather envious of your golden. Such luster, why it goes perfect with your lovely locks."

And just like that, any notion of fighting or anything remotely close to that concept was gone from his mind, and it reflected in just how vibrant his smile became. He watched as she stepped beyond the assembly belt, and while any cruel Negaverse agent would have taken advantage of the sweet girl and attacked her, Buddingtonite remained true to his word. No need to dirty himself when there was no need to, right? Dirt and blood was hard to get off of his uniform sometimes.

He allowed her to circle him, keeping his hands to himself but visible for her to see that he was now unarmed. His boomerang returned to its holster in the Negaspace or whatever, and he held one hand to his hip as he followed her movements. Not overly suspicious of her movements but wanting to keep an eye on her- after all, while their intentions were clear to one another, he couldn't be too careful. He answered her question in kind, keeping his voice light and civil, despite the heaviness of his words and the accusations be brought. "Oh, you know, the usual for the space invaders. Collateral damage, abducting children and young teens into their army, the various assort of chaos and mayhem that you'd expect. Oh, and the desire to carry on some maybe missing, maybe dead Moon Queen to take over and enslave mankind."

He chuckled at the notion, before adding, "Nothing major."

When she stopped at his right and explained herself, he fell into a more relaxed stance, and he may have regretted some of his words. They did come off as passive-aggressive and might have hurt her feelings, and he sought to ease the fallout of that immediately. "Forgive me, that's a bit of my peers and their prejudices coming out through me. They're rather strong in their beliefs that I can't help but project it, even when I have seen exceptions to this every time."

Her wink and nudge didn't go unnoticed, and if anything, it brought the purr in his voice again. "Nuclear Explosions? Perhaps I should watch my step around you. I may be able to diffuse a situation, but a bomb might be out of my league."

Then, he asked, a bit more seriously. "You have a name at least, Miss Nuclear? Mine is Buddingtonite. Captain Buddingtonite."

With a smirk to show her jest, she stepped back with an exaggerated eye roll. "We don't need formalities, oh-Captain-my-Captain." How fun he seemed--not at all like Cybele described. She made the Negaverse seem dangerous, and said they liked to touch people's...chests? Buddingtonite made no such move, keeping his hands distant and visible, smiling, dematerializing his weapon (How romantic)...She couldn't deny the brief fantasy of getting to know the other side, wondering if they grabbed sugary noms or attended carnivals...

...Or hunted Senshi like her mentor, but Buddingtonite wouldn't do that, right? He seemed kind and rational. Perhaps he could even be one of her mentors (albeit a secret one--No doubt Cybele and Acubens would scold her for it). After all, he only wanted to guide her.

"You're right about the children," she sighed. "Unfortunately, I've heard nothing about this scheme to enslave." She smiled at him from over her shoulder. "Besides, wouldn't the Negaverse aim to fill he minds of young, naive Senshi with such thoughts? Not that I'm unappreciative. It's just something to note."

"Hmm." She drew near, considering the Senshi who would come after him if word of their meeting slipped out. "It would be wise if you watched your step--not because of me, of course, but because I suspect there are angry Senshi everywhere, and I doubt they'd hold back from hurting a pretty face." She paused. "Your face is very pretty." She brushed her fingers through her hair. A faint pink rose in her cheeks. "I'm Medea, Sailor Senshi of Enchantment."

She covered her face with her hands and spun away from him. "Oh nooo, your fearsome enemy's a *sparkling*, magical enchantress. What ever will you do?"

Medea pulled away her hands and grinned from over her shoulder.

"Oh, don't be fooled, my dear. I simply enjoy being called such. Captain has a nice ring to it, though, not quite as much as General, but I'm getting ahead of myself!" Buddingtonite said in response to her playful banter, and he found it disheartening to see her awakened on the other side. If only he had found her first, she would have been a fun playmate to have in the Negaverse. Perhaps there was still a way to salvage that, and if anything, it only made him all the more eager to indulge in a little fun.

He knew nothing of her recent encounters or who she had made contact with on the other side, and that only served to give him a blank slate to work with. She seemed aware of the Chibi Senshi, though wasn't enlightened on the whole slavery part. Typical, for a White Moon senshi, but he didn't think ill of her for it. After all, if that was their true intentions, the ingenuity of it would be that they themselves wouldn't know. Secret orders from the Moon Queen, even to themselves. Sleeper agents, in a way. It was certainly a bone to gnaw on later.

"Perhaps so, but it's always best to error on the side of caution. The most I hear from your Court is that those aren't their orders, but then, they admit to not being sure what their orders are." Buddingtonite admitted, willing to back down from the whole 'slavery of mankind' matter. It was foolish to think any of them would openly admit this, not unless they took some kind of joy out of playing a one-note villain, and clueless they may be, they were anything but one-note. Especially this one. She was a treat. She gave him a friendly warning and even called his face pretty, and he took that compliment like a prom queen accepted her crown. All smiles and fueling his ego all the more. "Thank you, I do my best to keep up appearances, as often time it's my saving grace in a fight. Give them a little smolder and hope it's enough to keep those angry Senshi at bay."

Long enough for him to escape, anyway. Not that it worked, but he didn't want to bother her with such details. Not when he was simply having too much fun causing the poor girl to blush. It wasn't often that he saw anyone get this way over harmless flirting, and maybe it brought out the kid in him, as he got lost in his harmless little game. "Well, I'd say that I'm simply doomed! I could beg for mercy, or, maybe, appeal to your better nature? I'm rather good at that..."

"Hmm, Buddingtonite." She frowned. "What are your orders?"

She knew better, right? Anyone else would have listened to their mentors or at least know the supposed enemy longer than a day before olive-branching them. Still, she wanted to trust and believe in him as much as she did Senshi. Why did they have to fight? In an ideal world, Senshi and Negaverse agents could hold hands and skip down a sparkling golden path, but alas!

Of course, now was not the time for unhappy thoughts or dreams of pacifism because she had to entertain the captain, whom she sought to impress with her sparkling eyes and charming smile, only to find herself impressed with his instead. What a practiced flirt, she thought, laughing at his jokes. Obviously he knows what he's doing.

She liked him. She liked his charm and grace and eloquence, and that was enough for her to play along. At least, until the war forced them to battle, and then she would destroy him.

Right?

...But he seemed so kind!

RIGHT?!

...But he wanted to help her!

She would consider this more during diary-time, when she sat at her desk with a cup of milk, played some Verdi and thought about the consequences of her actions. By the end of the hour, she felt empty and calm and could easily pass out, but this was not diary time, and she wanted to keep up his mood. She smiled. "Well yes..." She drew near. "...But I only spare exceptional agents or my colleagues will think I'm weak."

Thus far, the Negaverse seemed quite nice, but time would tell. Buddingtonite was, after all, the only agent Medea had met.

"Are you exceptional, Captain?"

"My orders? Hm... that might be a tad bit confidential and I really shouldn't tell you," Buddingtonite said, mock disappointment in his voice, even as he made a point to glance around the abandoned factory. He sensed no other energy signatures in the area, either Order or Chaos, and while he knew that she could have been trying to weasel out information from him, to aide her own cause, he figured he'd give her a partial truth. Besides, he was certain that some of them already knew their 'orders' anyway, so where was the harm in giving her a little hint? "But if we are to be friends, there should be few secrets between us."

He gave one last sweep of the place, before addressing the matter. "My duty as an Infiltration officer is to seek out new recruits and spread the good word of the Negaverse. Think of me as a... hiring agent of sorts, with a bit of PR work thrown in."

It made a lot of sense in his head, but that was because he was already an established business man. Granted it was a small business, but he took pride in his work, both in uniform and out, and maybe a little too much of it show as he turned to her again with an inquisitive smile. "Is that answer acceptable, Medea?"

He wasn't sure what was going on in that pretty head of hers, but he was content to see that, though they were on opposite sides, that the two could get along. Of course, it could all be an elaborate trap, but perhaps it was naive of him to think that the White Moon Court as a whole was too disorganized to act upon any advantage given to them. Naive, but he'd dabble in it if it meant he could walk away from an encounter with either no bruises or cuts, or even better, a new recruit.

He watched intently as she drew close, pretending to keep his cool even when he couldn't ignore the throbbing of his heart. This was the kind of excitement the captain always welcomed, and in response to her question, he gave a soft purr, bringing a gloved hand up to bat at the lovely locks that dangled off her shoulder. "I could be. In more ways then one. Which would you fancy?"

elza magica
PostPosted: Thu Aug 15, 2013 8:23 pm

"I suppose." She returned the smile, acknowledging that he possibly abstained from battle only to recruit her, and she couldn't turn her back on the Senshi who saved her. Medea not only liked them, but she needed and trusted them. Why throw away such a valuable asset? She couldn't justify leaving for something so unknown, even if Buddingtonite delighted her with grins and touch and purr. "Is this how you normally do business?"

If Medea studied him more, perhaps she would have seen his excitement, but so preoccupied with her confusion and bashfulness and elation, she could only grin. Her heart fluttered. If he left, would she see him again, and on friendly terms? She hoped so. She'd hate to battle him--not only because of her own safety, but because 1) She preferred not betray his trust and 2) She preferred not to ruin the fantasy that he refrained from harm.

She softened at his touch. The beginning of her Senshi path seemed like the best time to take risks. She could claim naivete or inexperience or manipulation, even if Senshi would later expect responsibility of her. Ugh. Would they really control who she liked? Certainly they would scold her.

His colleagues, though...

She couldn't imagine how they would react.

This may get me in trouble one day...

Pulling his hand from her shoulder, she brought it to her lips and smiled. Should she reveal her thoughts straight away? It seemed so easy. She answered: "You're right. There should be a few secrets between us."

She squeezed his hand before releasing.

"Not necessarily. Most of the time by business methods are cut short by the more... let's call them 'Battle Hardened' of your allies, but I do make it a point to offer up a chance to an extraordinary few, such as yourself." Buddingtonite told her, only exaggerating the truth slightly but not letting her in on that. He had a soft spot for a pretty face, even if one of them had turned his attack on him (in retrospect, though, Buddingtonite accepted that he had deserved his fury, though he would not readily admit this to the mysterious Eternal of ruffles and gorgeous blond hair). "Make love, not war... not sure who said it first, but I full heartedly agree to such a notion."

Because he'd be lying if he didn't admit that those on the other side weren't downright tempting. He never wanted to admit it to the Negaverse or even the Dark Mirror Court, but he found those on the other side to be rather tantalizing with their outfits, and most of them certainly had the body and face to pull it off. Perhaps it was their power and their exoticness that made them more desirable, but for now, there was no harm in looking, right?

Though Medea seemed interested in more than just looking, it seemed, and the turn of events was certainly surprising and new for Buddingtonite. Most of the time it was he that initiated such a contact, but now, the roles were reversed, and he rather... liked that. It made her request easy to follow, despite whatever punishment he might receive on his end by simply letting her walk away. "If they ask, they being my senior officers... I'll simply say you cast a spell on me. You are the Senshi of Enchantment, after all..."

He accepted her squeeze, and he tipped his cap to show his respect, as well as to hide the tiniest of blushes that appeared on his cheeks. "I'm sure we'll meet again, Medea. Perhaps next time I'll even have a surprise waiting for you."

You made Buddy blush. This is no easy feat. WHAT SORCERY IS THIS?
PostPosted: Fri Aug 16, 2013 1:21 pm

"How unfortunate. My allies are missing quite a treat."

Medea didn't want to be that girl who asked when they would meet again, if he really meant everything he said, how much she actually interested him, but she feared the circumstances of their next meeting--especially as she grew closer to her fellow Senshi. There stood a chance one of her mentors would patrol with her, and they would run into him, and then what? Hopefully he wasn't too notorious, and Medea could excuse him as an ally on the inside, but the Senshi seemed so ingrained in their duty that she worried if they'd believe her.

"As long as it's not an ambush, surprises are welcome!" She laughed. "Just make sure your superiors believe you..."

She loved the sound of "next time". Score.

"Well, no enemies here." She brushed past him. I'll be seeing you, Captain."

With a leap off the stairs trailing to the factory entrance and a quickly beating heart, she started her journey home.

"Who knows... maybe someday they'll come around?" Buddingtonite fancied the thought, but he held little hope for it himself. If what Ilmenite said was true, there were still danger that lurked among them. But Medea? She was not one of them, not unless all of this was a clever ruse and he took the bait. Maybe that's what this was? Still, being trapped by this enchantress, it didn't seem like such a bad thing...

Quite pleasant, actually. It was just a pity that he didn't have the strength to take her in now, but perhaps in due time? It was always something to thrive for.

"Do not worry for me, my lady. I'm sure I can do a great job in convincing them, if need be. Many of them feel you and your kind hold an advantage and wouldn't think twice if I was forced to retreat for my own safety." Buddingtonite remembered their orders well, to flee when he felt threatened, and he was quick to exploit that clause, since there was no one else there to impress. He gave her a polite bow of his head when she gave her farewells, giving her a playful wave before turning his back and walking away. "Please, call me Buddy. And seek me anytime you wish."

The next time he'd see her, he was determined to win her over. He simply had to step up his game...
