Are you one of those people who can't make up a name to save their life?
Sometimes you'll struggle for days just trying to find that right one.
And for some of you, the name just comes to you.
It fits the character you've created and you keep it.
But we're all tired of Jacks, Andrews, and Michaels.
And don't get me started on the Alices, Hannahs, and Rachels trend.
You want something unique but not too crazy.
Sometimes fitting but also a part of you.

HERE'S MY TIP.

Names have always come easy to me.
And I've always say the alphabet aloud when I want to remember a name.
So, I put two and two together.

If you can't find a name you like, here are five easy steps.

1) Ask a friend to pick three completely random letters.
They cannot take more than a second to think about. Ask multiple people, you'll notice the trend of 'a, b, q, z, and x'. I would say three people at most, this way you can see which letters you'd like.

2) Take the first three letters from your first friend and click on www.babynames.com

3) Go to the letter, pick the gender, and look through the names. Look at meanings too, sometimes that will help the most in deciding what to name your character.

4) Make a list of the names you like, then when you finish the first three letters from your first friend, start crossing off the ones that you really don't like, but thought were interesting.

5) Normally, you'll have about 3 names left. Sometimes the three is in one letter, sometimes spread out. Decide if you really like any of those names. If not, go to friend B with their three letters.

I hope this tip works for everyone, give me some feedback if it doesn't.

Oh I love babynames.com! It helps me out so much whenever I'm coming up with character names. I usually just look a the meaning and find something that matches my character well. Or I'll search by origin if I want them to have a specific background. And sometimes I'll search by both which is how I got the name for my main character in my current book. I guess this isn't really feedback but I thought I'd share.
