((Here we go~ Feel free to meet, greet, scare off with a youma, what have you emotion_kirakira ))

Nobody really expects to be attacked by weird magical creatures or people as they made their merry way from Point A to Point B. WELL, most people wouldn't really expect it. As Adele walked home from a class this evening, she had it in her mind that something like that would be a nice change of pace. Classes weren't exactly thrilling. Oh sure, she certainly paid attention to her studies. The young woman excelled.. and pushed herself even further than many expected of her. It was the high expectation as a member of the affluent Bauer family. And Adele was no damn slouch.

But even her distractions didn't seem to be enough lately. It had become far too easy to pilfer merchandise from suspecting shopkeeps. Wearing, eating, viewing her trophies weren't quite giving her that satisfaction she felt from her previous ventures. Were the store clerks and police just slow, or had she perfected her art?

It had to be the former. It just had to.

And so Adele walked, wishing something.. ANYTHING.. would happen. Not expecting anything. Especially not magical people. Especially not worrying about caring what she wished for.

The night was young, and Buddingtonite was on the prowl for a little excitement himself, and it wasn't just for a pretty lady, or man, to take home. Yes, that would have been a lovely way to end his evening, but his kind of 'take home' was more like... 'take their starseed' home with him. Their bodies could remain behind for all he cared... he'd just find a way to throw the blame on the Senshi for this one. Give that Tag fellow an easier job in his reports.

The victim of the wicked alien invaders tonight? A rather beautiful looking young lady that he suspected was making her way home and making the mistake of passing by his usual route. Had he not already been in uniform and on the prowl, he would have been more keen to offering her a ride, but... he did suit up and was prepared to take a starseed this evening. He gave a heartfelt sigh, taking a moment to straighten his cap, before making his descent.

When he landed, he made sure to land directly behind her, unable to resist the notion of giving the young lady a scare. If the sound of his landing didn't do it, then certainly shout would do the trick, as the moment he landed, he sucked in a breath and gave a loud shout, cupping his hands around his mouth in hopes of projecting it. "BOOM!"

Perhaps it was a little childish, but he wanted to have a little fun before he plucked out her starseed... where was the harm in wanting to have a little fun?

WELP. So much for thinking this would be an uneventful, boring evening.

Adele wheeled around as she screeched, thoughts interrupted by the sudden sound of someone landing (from a high place? what the bloody eff?) right behind her. A hand went into her purse to start to search for something as widened eyes quickly searched her soon-to-be assailant...

... only for her to raise an eyebrow. "What the hell?" She took a step backwards. "What is up with that outfit? I didn't know the steampunk military convention was this weekend." Still, she took another step backwards as she searched through the purse. Where the hell was that pepper spray when she needed it? This guy seemed dangerous and she wasn't about to be a willing victim.

The Knight of Earth was out on his normal patrols. He tried to keep his patrol areas different, though he always started from the same place, and his efforts failed more often than not because it was already in his head to keep one specific area safe. But things were changing and he kept shifting his ideas of what was the most useful method.

Tonight, anyway, he had wandered a bit farther from the library than normal, and had so far not encountered much of note. He liked quiet nights. They sometimes made him feel like the White Moon were doing their jobs, and making a difference.

Then he felt the chaotic energy and heard a scream.

Moving on instinct, mostly, he hurried toward the sources, though he was a short distance off. He had his shield on his arm already, and was more than eager to defend any innocent that needed such defense. That was his job, as a Knight, after all: it was kind of the only thing he really knew how to do any more.

There were times where he knew that he should have acted his age and that at times, the accusation of him being one big man-child was fitting. Today just so happened to be one of those days, and the sight of her jumping certainly put him in the mood for a playful chuckle. Even if it was short-lived, he had managed to take her off guard, and he admired just how quickly she was able to recover. Her retort and the insult that came with it did great in stop his laughter, and while his smile remained, his voice got a little more serious than it had previously been. "Steampunk military convention? Well, that's imaginative. At least you didn't go for the term 'Nazi'... seems to be a common comparison these days."

That would have likely made him mad, but steampunk was interesting and different, so he would take his compliments, or insults, when he could. She was likely digging into her purse for a weapon or cellphone, and that was Buddingtonite's first clue that this girl might have been more useful than just someone to siphon energy from. "Quick recovery time, surprising wit, and now, if we assume you're looking for a weapon in that oversized purse of yours, the desire and means to defend yourself. Hm... you could be more useful."

He brought a hand to his chin, giving the matter thought, even as he considered how best to resolve this growing dilemma. Perhaps spooking her wasn't the best mood in winning her over? He had little time to consider his options when he felt the spike of an Order aura nearby, and his first instinct was to break the gap between the two and grab her. Whoever it was, they felt strong, much stronger than him, and he reached for Adele's hand, his only warning to her was a quick spat, determined to either use her as a shield or get a little energy from her. "Get over here, missy!"

Ryndilee
You can totally just move aside or let him grab you, or hit him with pepper spray. I'm game for anything.

Adele would have more than welcomed the compliments he was throwing her way. Quick recovery time. Surprising wit. The sense to pummel him in the face with a weapon. ... except that the more he spoke, the creepier this man got. When he mentioned the possibility that she could be useful she let out a short little laugh as and smirked. "Useful?" Just who WAS this guy anyway?

She didn't have much time to think about it. For whatever reason, Mister Steampunk Nazi went from thoughtful to sudden grabby touch. This was.. not good. Worse yet was she couldn't find the damn pepper spray AUGH.

Large, heavy purses make good alternatives to missing pepper spray weapons. All you need to do is make sure you have enough momentum as you swing that sucker, and aim for the head. She stepped back and swung that thing as hard as she could. "Not on our first date, pal!"

... dammit, that line was cheesy as hell. Oh well.

Cheesy as the line may have been, it was certainly effective, as well as her choice of weapon. Buddingtonite may have had the advantage in strength thanks to the chaos that flowed through him, but he was still human in the end. One that had gotten a little too cocky, and didn't have the reflexes to show for it. The purse struck him dead on in the face and sent him tumbling backwards, not entirely sending him flying or off his feet, but it certainly put some distance between them.

He brought a gloved hand to his bottom lip, where one of the buckles hit, and he wasn't too surprised to see a bit of blood there. He wasn't sure if it came from his lip or the gums, but either way, it was enough to wipe that smile off his face. Suddenly, the approaching Order aura meant nothing to him, and any mirth his voice once held was gone, as he cast angered, crimson eyes at Adele.

"Do you realize what you've done? I have an image to keep up!" He stormed towards her, fist curled and his intentions completely clear, as any attempt to reign in his emotions or keeping up a pleasant facade was gone. "I'll have your starseed for that!"

Camelot arrived to see the Negaverse soldier stalking toward a civilian who seemed to be fighting back as best she could. From the looks of it, that had only made things worse, as the Nega looked furious and that never spelled anything good. The only thing Camelot was in time to hear was the threat to the civilian's starseed.

He reacted as if that were more than a threat: it was the only thing he could do. He had to take everything he heard and saw seriously, and if a civilian was in danger of losing their life than he was obligated to stop that from happening.

"Terra Viridis Crystal Power!" He called, holding his shield in front of him with both hands, aiming it at the Nega. The emblem of the dragon on the face of the shield began to glow, and a beam of green light burst from it, racing toward Buddy. It washed over him without impact, in a physical sense. It did not have the power to slam into anything, or send him flying by sheer force. Instead, it penetrated without causing injury, lighting nerves into reaction and causing a sharp and terrible sensation of sudden pain where it touched. It would fade with the light, and left no permanent damage, but for those brief few moments it was certainly difficult to ignore.

There were few things that had sent Buddingtonite into that dark mood to where he'd ignore the basic instincts of fleeing at the presence of a stronger opponent. Oh, he felt the impending arrival of the knight (given the sheer strength of his aura, how could he not?), but he was simply too caught in his own desire for revenge that by the time the aura and its bearer upon him, it was too late to flee. He was within arm's reach of Adele when he heard the knight's shout, and if that wasn't enough of a warning that he was in for a world of hurt, then it was the bright green light that flashed from his shield.

"What the hell is a Terra Viridis Crys-s**t!" The word caught in his throat when he spotted the green light racing towards him, and despite how useless it was, he tried to dodge. He failed, miserable of course, and he managed to get an arm over his face, trying to brace himself for whatever hell was to come. Why did this always seem to happen? Why was he always the first to suffer at their hands?

And suffer he did! The pain he felt was more than enough to distract him from his original target, and prideful as he may be, he had absolutely no tolerence of pain, as his strangled cry held nothing back. He had tried to overcome it to summon his boomerang, maybe try to get a blow in, but there was no use. The light hit him in the chest and torso, leaving the captain virtually defenseless as he dropped to his knees. He had no idea what his victim would do and truthfully, he didn't care... not so much as this pain resonated through his body. He looked to the one that attacked him, not bothering to hide the fear that shone in his crimson eyes as he practically begged, "Y-you... you don't plan on killing me... do you!?"

Maybe once the pain stopped, he'd form a plan... assuming the pain ever ended.

What... what was even happening anymore? Starseeds? More people in costume coming out of the woodwork to flash shiny shields at their foes? ... actually, that was pretty cool. This probably was some act going on by some errant Ren Faire or acting troupe. And that guy on the ground writhing in pain was a pretty good and convincing actor. If Adele didn't know any better, she would say that he really WAS in pain.

She rested one of her boots on his chest and leaned down to smirk in his face. "I have to say, you had me fooled. It was a good show. Bravo. Encore.

Her head turned to regard Camelot. "But you two should not be acting in the dark like that. You might actually target the wrong people. But, you know, encore, bravo, nevertheless."

Camelot felt guilty, watching Buddy react to the effects of the Terra Viridis crystal, but he hadn't felt he had a choice. He moved closer, blinking when he realized that the girl had apparently not thought she was in any danger, which only made his guilt a bit more acute. Yes, he knew that the negaverse officer was there for trouble, but he wouldn't be able to explain that to her.

He cleared his throat.

"You should back away from there," he said, trying to sound like he wasn't acting, like it was important and natural, but his voice betrayed him because he was thinking about it too much. He sounded exactly like he didn't want to, like he was delivering some line he was too focused on getting right, and he rolled his eyes at himself inwardly.

"I-I mean, it's not safe. He's not safe. You should go and find some cover, before he recovers himself!"

There, that was a little more urgent and real, but he doubted it would work after that. She thought he was an actor, and now he couldn't get it out of his brain and he kept acting like one. One day he would not be as awkward as he had always been cursed to be, but that day was not today.

The pain was intense, but if there was one thing that Buddingtonite knew, it was that these spells didn't last forever. Or at least, he hadn't come across one that did, thankfully, and he was certain that this one wouldn't have been the first. The pain would have to end, eventually!

It was hard to follow the conversation between the knight and the young woman, given the effects of the spell, but whatever they were talking about was just the distraction he needed. Though this knight was stronger than him in many ways, he would not have allowed this assault to go unavenged, and he made absolutely certain that the first thing he did when the effects of the spell wore off was to summon his boomerang and strike.

It was only a question of who he would strike, and the moment he thought the pain was ebbing to an end, he took aim at the knight, reeling his arm back and giving an angered shout as he let his weapon fly. "You... interrupted... my game!"

It meant giving up his original target, but maybe, just maybe if he lucked out, he could have both. One had drawn blood and the other assaulted him with magic... neither offenses he would forget so easily! First he'd deal with the actual threat, and his attention was fully set on Camelot.

Poor knight guy. He seemed to be having issues with his lines. Now if SHE was the one in the role, she was sure she'd do it absolutely perfectly despite the fact that she had never acted a day in her life. Maybe later she could give him some acting tips... or at least some self-confidence tips. But not right now.

Right now the guy in pain had thrown something. "Whoa!" Adele staggered backward, losing her balance for a brief second before getting back to her senses. "Watch it!"

He had summoned it. He had... SUMMONED it. That was either magic or some neat special effects they had going there. For a few seconds, she wondered if it was actually possible. That this was all real and magic was actually a real, honest to goodness thing.

She found herself staring at the knight, almost a bit slack-jawed, waiting to see what would happen next. It was then that the sparkling of... something... caught in the corner of her eye. In the alley beside them, just behind a garbage can, something glowed. She turned her back to the ensuing fight as if in a daze, vulnerable to any and all who would hurt her. Entranced.

Camelot's attention was drawn from the girl who thought he was a performer of some kind as the Negaverse soldier was getting his senses back. The Crystal's power was only temporary, and it was not something that most people took kindly to after it had faded and they had the chance to be angry about it.

Usually, Camelot used it only when he had to, and at the end of the fight or as a method of escape. He did not generally stick around to see the kind of bad mood it put people in.

So this was going to be interesting.

He lifted his shield and braced himself, feeling the boomerang slamming into the metal shield with a heavy clang. It was enough to make his ears ring, and he was focused on the fight now. He hoped that the civilian had run off to find a safe place to hide, as he could not see her at the moment and knew, at least, that the Nega had not gotten her.

"Just get out of here," he called to Buddy, "I don't want to hurt you, and I won't let you continue whatever it is you were planning here. This isn't a game to me."

Buddingtonite was extremely disappointed to see how easily the knight managed to deflect his weapon, but ultimately, what was he expecting? A knight with a shield, and of course he would aim for the shield! At least he was able to catch his weapon, jumping into the air and grabbing it before it could fly off into the bowels of Destiny City and forcing him to summon it again. It was a small victory, if one could even call it that, but it was something.

He openly scoffed at the knight's demand, gripping his boomerang and actually looking to strike again. Despite the difference in their power levels and the knight's obvious advantage in experience, Buddingtonite wasn't quite willing to depart, not just yet. "Life's a game, shining knight. She's the one that drew blood first- am I not entitled to revenge?"

Buddingtonite knew he was on the wrong end of this argument- it was like suing the home owner when the burglar was injured in the middle of a heist, but he was willing to play that card. By this time, the pain from the crystal's attack had completely let up, leaving only remnants of pain, and his attention was completely on the knight, not at all noticing the woman's absence. As far as Buddingtonite was concerned, his prey had escaped, and he actually braved a step towards his foe, weapon still at hand but otherwise not lashing out, though it seemed inevitable. "What I was planning was a simple siph-n-go, nothing more. Why do you always assume the worst from us, o Valiant knight?"
