It had taken Stew a very long time to return to the ruins. After his grim defeat at the hands and feet of a murderous spire processor, he had made it his first priority to return home. Maybe it had been a fluke, but Stew knew when he was outmatched. He didn't want to lose again, so he vowed to come back to a place where he wouldn't.
He sighed with relief when he spotted the familiar yellow lights of the city ahead, but even in the midst of his relief, he could feel something creeping up behind him.
Stew spun on his heel, raising his gun and shooting... in almost the entirely wrong direction.
At least he had clipped the thing. He ran.
