A wizard is never late...I have an idea for a campaign I'd like to start, preferably in Pathfinder 3.5. It's sort-of a Steampunky, mystic, extraplanar adventure... So if that doesn't sound like your cup of tea, turn away. razz I also strongly request that you use a new character for this campaign, but if you absolutely must use an old one, I guess I can make an exception.
If you're still here, that's a good sign. xDThe campaign takes place on a (Thus Far unnamed) alien plane, consisting of mainly water, with many small to large islands scattered across the world. This plane is relatively unique in the sense that it is one universe-sized planet, with endless explorability. where steam-power, science, and alchemy reign supreme, and magic, while still existing, is relatively alien. It is all but unpracticed, and spellcasters are a rare sight. In their place, we have engineers, who work with copper, steel, and brass to make contraptions so strange and powerful that they may as well BE magic, as well as Psionics, armoured with powerful psychic abilities which challenge that of magic users. Both of these have numbers equal if not surpassing the approximate spellcasting population of the Material Plane. It is now commonplace to see airships, hot-air balloons, steam-powered weapons, clockwork prosthetics, psionically-enhanced armours, and powerful alchemical formulas; the likes of which are all but unheard of on the Material Plane. Magical and enchanted gear, however, is rare.
The world is in chaos, however. Each island has its own unique governing body, its own kingdom. You live on a large and prosperous island called Caelum. Your king has requested that you, and a group of other adventurers, journey to as many of these other islands as you can, and unite them under Caelum's banner... By force, if necessary. In return, he has agreed to pay you all equal, copious amounts of gold. You could retire and live as royalty with half the amount he's giving you for this job.
He has given every party-member 300 Gold(Replaces starting gold on new characters) to gear-up in the local shops, and provided a Frigate-class Airship. She is seaworthy, if the need arises. In air and sea, she tops out at 80 Knots. She has accommodations for all party-members, as well as a few spare rooms, and can carry around 1 ton of total weight(This includes cargo and passengers) before she begins to lose altitude. It is unwise to dip too far above this limit in the water, lest the vessel begin to sink. The ship is also equipped with special signal flares, which, when sent up, will alert the King's army to come to your aid... You will not get anything for the kills they make, however.
The choice is in your hands. Do you obey His Highness? Or do you warn the other islands of Caelum's coming invasions? Of course, there's always the option of simply going AWOL, and watching the ensuing chaos. You wouldn't even have to take the job in the first place. So, what do you think?... Nor is he early.
