He’s a pacifist, and would rather die than kill…but he is also fiercely protective, and in defense of another, his ruthlessness is a frightening change from his usual self.
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual
Family: N/A
Background:
Gengyo's life as a human is unimportant. However, when he arrived in East Rukongai, he was essentially a street urchin. He made some friends, and collectively they were as close to siblings as a group of outcasts in the East Rukongai could be. However, one day, the youngest of their group was killed by a rather slimy man who'd been owed money by the boy. In a fit of rage, Gengyo beat the man to within an inch of his life, swearing afterwards that beating the man up had made him ill...and that he'd only fight from then on in the defense of others who could not defend themselves.
Many years passed and he held to that oath every second. On a winter night a century or so after his vow, he noticed something odd. He was VERY hungry, and in his head there was a whispering and a ringing, as if he was being called to from outside of space and time. This continued for almost a week. Finally, in an effort to get some money for food, he stole a sword that looked far too precious to be in such a dingy shop. As he picked it up, though, instantly the whispering ceased and he heard a name. He spoke it softly yet clearly, "Tsukurite Yasuragi." He forgot his hunger that night and the next day entered the academy to become a Shinigami. There he discovered he was exceedingly proficient at Shunpo and bakudo, that he was barely passable with hado, and that his unarmed combat was second to none in his class, while his swordsmanship was, as his instructors put it, “a sight to behold.” He graduated, and the rest, as they say, is history.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬ ▬ ZANPAKUTO ▬
- Zanpakutō Name: Tsukurite Yasuragi
Zanpakutō Type: Kidō
Sealed Zanpakutō:

Zanpakutō Spirit: A large tortoise with a white beard and a lion’s tail
Bankai Zanpakutō Spirit: A tall middle aged man in a long green robe with a lion’s mane and tail, turtle shell on his chest and back (over the robe as if he were using it as a suit of armor), and carrying a long walking stick.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬ ▬ SHIKAI ▬
- Shikai Incantation: “Turn aside all conflict, Tsukurite Yasuragi!”
Release Appearance: In a quick flash of white light, the sword changes shape. To describe what the process looks like…it looks as if the sword, for a moment, is no longer solid and is closer to a liquid as it changes.
Description: The sword takes on the form of a Chinese Jian similar to the one used by Li Sioran in the Card Captors anime. The hilt has a dull copper color and there is a large green jewel set in the middle of it with a 3 foot long red ribbon trailing from the pommel.
Abilities: Tsukurite Yasuragi is a highly defensive zanpakuto. In its shikai form it possesses three distinctive abilities. The first is achieved when Tsukurite Yasuragi is swung at an opponent or an incoming attack. The zanpakuto slices through and disrupts the flow of spiritual pressure destroying or turning aside incoming attacks. Try to bear in mind that Gengyo must first be strong and fast enough to actually parry the attack, and must also be able to score a direct hit on his enemy for this to happen. Each time this ability is used, the effectiveness is lessened. For example, if Gengyo manages to deflect 6 Hado #4 attacks in a row (even though in reality, he's only fast enough to be able to do that with one or two), the first one will be pretty much deflected without issue. The second one will be also deflected, but Gengyo will still feel some of the attack. By the fourth and fifth, Gengyo would likely be better off just getting out of the way. Also, stronger attacks will make this ability max out faster than weaker ones. Now, obviously this is pretty much designed to be used in conjunction with the second ability. Both are pretty much passive. So…having said that, when the THIRD ability is used, the diminishing effect of this ability is reset and starts over. Also, after the reset, there is a short (roughly 10 seconds) cool down.
The second ability is passive. When Tsukurite Yasuragi parries a blow or counters an attack with its first ability the jewel in the pommel begins to glow as the zanpakuto absorbs part of the force of any attack dealt with in this fashion. The power of whatever's being parried will determine how much is absorbed, and just like the first ability (to be able to deflect kido and like abilities), this one becomes less and less effective with each use. Also, just like the first one, the stronger the attack absorbed, the quicker the absorption will diminish in effectiveness. (so it might take 20 sword blows to max it out....or it might only take 3 Getsuga Tenshou, or perhaps 10 sword blows and a few kido, each one giving less energy to Gengyo than the last.) Now, obviously this is pretty much designed to be used in conjunction with the first ability. Both are pretty much passive. So…having said that, when the THIRD ability is used, the diminishing effect of this ability is reset and starts over. Also, after the reset, there is a slightly longer (about 15 seconds) cool down.
The third ability utilizes the gathered reishi from opponents’ attacks and fires it from the tip of the blade in a concentrated burst at the target. It is called “Hantaisoku no hoho o sashidasu” (反対側 の 頬 を 差し出す, Turn the other cheek) This burst will travel roughly 250 feet or until it hits something, whichever comes first. The attack is barely visible as crackling electricity and may or may not push an opponent back on contact. However, after hit by this attack, the opponent will be dealt injuries internally more than externally, as Tsukurite Yasuragi's blast did not strike them so much as it passed through them. If an opponent was standing in front of a wall and turned they would see the impact point on the wall caved in slightly and covered with cracks as though something massive had collided with it. If deflected, the blast will ricochet much like a beam of light hitting a mirror, and whatever it hits instead will receive the force of the blast, still limited by the range. Even though it’s highly unlikely that this will be the case, this ability can only be used once every 90 seconds or so. ((Note: Can only be deflected once before it reaches max range. So if it’s deflected after 100 feet, it will travel another 150 I another direction.))
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬ ▬ BANKAI ▬
- Bankai Name: Tsukurite Yasuragi Zettai Seion
Bankai Incantation: “Bankai!” ((I would assume, since in the series that's all that was ever said..….))
Release Appearance: Tsukurite Yasuragi Zettai Seion looks no different from its shikai form. The bankai is actually a resulting area of effect.
Description: Tsukurite Yasuragi Zettai Seion looks no different from its shikai form. The bankai is actually a resulting area of effect.
Abilities: The wielder points Tukurite Yasurgai straight up, turns it 180 degrees so it's facing down, then drives it into the ground creating an anchoring point. On impact eight beams of light shoot out from the blade racing along the ground for 100 feet in each direction. When each beam has run its course, each splits into two beams and travels left and right until it connects with the other beams in a ring of light. Next, a faintly glowing opaque wall rises from this ring of light and forms a dome. When the dome completes itself all light in the space is inverted creating a surreal battleground. The dome also extends underground creating, in truth, a perfect sphere. It should be noted that the Zettai Seion only lasts for a certain time...obviously able to be increased with practice. Generally speaking, though, it can only last a few minutes. It should also be noted that simply using Bankai would require a large output of energy, making the user vulnerable for a short time after activating. This, too, can be improved with practice.
Once erected any attacks against the perimeter of the Zettai Seion will be absorbed and distributed throughout its perimeter dispersing the energy used against it evenly. Additionally, a portion of the attacks energy is reflected as the power absorbed bounces back once it spreads throughout the the Zettai Seion's perimeter repelling any who would seek to escape or enter.
While inside the Zettai Seion all ability to sense the outside world and any spiritual pressure is completely cut off. Likewise, nobody outside it can sense anyone inside. Kidou is rendered ineffective. This is achieved not by suppressing or absorbing the power of those inside the Zettai Seion, but by reflecting the spiritual pressure exuded by the occupants creating a state of forced equilibrium; a basic way to visualize this would be pushing against an elastic surface, no matter how hard you push, the force you exude will always be gathered and reflected back at you.
Shunpo (aka Flash Step) and essential physical characteristics remain unaltered. If a bankai or shikai is already active, it will not be affected. Activating Shikai will be perfectly doable still, but activating Bankai might not be so easy ((again, gonna let the player use the honor system)).
The effect can be dispelled simply by removing Tsukurite Tasuragi from the ground. When drawn from the ground, the light regains its normal quality, zanpakuto will be able to cut again, bankai and skikai will become responsive and abilities relying on spiritual pressure and reishi can be used once again, the barrier also dissipating. However, should anyone other than its owner take hold of Tsukurite Yasuragi, the ribbon attached to its pommel will quickly bind itself around their forearm. Once wrapped around the victims arm, Tsukurite Yasuragi will immediately release a painful electrical shock ((NOTE: DOES NOT CAUSE INJURY, ONLY PAIN)) until the sword is let go of, even after it’s removed. While this certainly makes it difficult for someone other than Gengyo to end the Zettai Seion, doing so is most assuredly still very doable…especially if the person has a bit of tolerance for pain.
Tsukurite Yasuragi Zettai Seion possesses one other ability, called “Saigo no bōei-sen” (最後の防衛線, Last Line of Defense). The wielder can reverse the flow of reishi through the zanpakuto and lose all defense creating a highly destructive force. When this technique is activated, the blade of Tsukurite Yasuragi glows a brilliant white and takes on a flaming appearance as the reishi that composes the blade grows increasingly unstable. When swung it releases a massive blast of spiritual energy destroying anything in a conical area directly in front of the wielder. This blast can also be released by hitting anyone or anything. If released as a ranged attack, however, the rage itself is roughly a hundred feet, with the cone widening to a maximum of 35 feet if the blast reaches it's maximum range. Such power comes at a price, as releasing the zanpakuto's power in this method will leave the wielder with almost no reiatsu left in their being. In the case of an extended battle, this will almost certainly result in the wielder's death, making this technique one of last resort.
One on final note, let it be known that simply removing the sword does NOT negate the bankai. Until it either times out or Gengyo himself halts it, the bankai remains active, and therefore remains capable of using the Saigo Bōei-sen.

Other: Gengyo has not yet achieved bankai. That section will only ever apply AFTER he does (if he does…he may not). Also, with regards to his Shikai's second ability, he CANNOT EVER absorb 100% of any attack. The last thing is this: his catchphrase, "No matter how the wind howls, the mountain cannot bow to it."
